00:00:00 Hi there, so Mark Dunford here from the Crawley Observer, Sussex World. I'm here at the Broadfield
00:00:08 Stadium and it's filled up, ready for the trophy presentation. It was an epic day yesterday,
00:00:19 I'm just going to turn you around for a second, an epic day yesterday at Wembley, 17,000 Crawley
00:00:25 fans, not going to be quite as many here tonight, but this is Preston Johnson's here,
00:00:31 talking to James Dunne from the BBC at the moment, ITV are here, BBC are here.
00:00:35 Yeah, I got a great interview with Ken, Ken Blackmore, you're live on Facebook,
00:00:46 how you feeling Ken? Give us a hug. You filming? Yeah I'm filming, yeah.
00:00:53 How you feeling? That was good yesterday wasn't it? Unbelievable, I mean you know,
00:00:56 I'm not going to break down again, I did it once and it went viral.
00:01:01 Yeah, fantastic day out wasn't it? Yeah. All my dreams come true Mark. So played at Wembley 1,
00:01:09 now we're in League 1 again, you've got to just solidate yourself for next year
00:01:13 and hopefully we'll be going to the League 1 playoff final to get in the Champions.
00:01:16 And you'll wear red that time hopefully. Excellent, thanks Ken, enjoy tonight.
00:01:22 Excellent.
00:01:24 Hi Ken, Karl how you doing? I'm just live on Facebook at the moment. How are you? Yeah,
00:01:35 how you feeling? Good. Yeah, good, thanks for talking to us yesterday, it was a good interview.
00:01:39 Yeah, I haven't shown Scott yet or anything, so I'll send it to him what I did. So you can see
00:01:44 somebody's praising him, he wanted it to be all about the players, but it's got to be a bit about
00:01:47 him as well. Send it to me Mark. Yeah, I will do. I haven't got your number I don't think.
00:01:51 Yeah, don't say it live on Facebook.
00:01:57 There you go, if you type it in there.
00:02:08 Brilliant, yeah no, it's great, thank you. Yeah, it did, yeah I tweeted it last night,
00:02:32 got a few retweets and had people liking it and that. So yeah, I will do, yeah I will do.
00:02:37 No, no problem at all. That's Karl Arriman, Scott Lindsay's mentor and been integral in
00:02:49 Danilo Orsi getting 20 whatever goals he got this year. So, there's all the players,
00:03:00 family Peter Lamb up there, Tom Cameron up there, Chris Mullins, Nick Hilton, counsellors.
00:03:07 Tom Cameron giving us a wave, works at Crystal Palace now, he's big time.
00:03:14 Sorry Preston, Preston Johnson there.
00:03:16 Give us a wave, Oliver how you doing? You all right? Yeah, good.
00:03:29 How you doing?
00:03:29 I'm gonna fall over in a minute.
00:03:37 Go and give us a wave.
00:03:42 Great stuff.
00:03:47 So how far have I got to go?
00:03:51 There he is, Brian Quinn now.
00:03:57 Excellent stuff, it's such a good atmosphere today, lovely, love those flags.
00:04:02 Come on, hello mate, how you doing? You all right?
00:04:08 Sam Morton, our intrepid reporter, his dad's here. How are you chaps, how you doing?
00:04:12 Don't forget to buy the Crawley Observer this week, 16 pages, pictures of you lot at Wembley.
00:04:21 Hello mate, how you doing? Enjoy yesterday?
00:04:33 Put it away mate, put it away.
00:04:43 How you doing?
00:04:50 How you doing? Great stuff.
00:04:53 Crawley Observer, 16 pages this week's paper, make sure you buy it.
00:05:16 All those chips look nice.
00:05:17 Those are on there, lovely stuff.
00:05:22 Oh here we go.
00:05:34 We're going to get underway in about five minutes time, we're just going to let the last few people
00:05:37 outside the turnstiles come in, so at about five past one we'll quickly start.
00:05:41 Let me get some pictures while I'm walking around, give us a smile.
00:05:48 Hiya, you want a picture?
00:05:53 Love it, absolutely love it.
00:05:58 Do you guys want a photo together?
00:06:10 Great stuff, give us a smile. How good, were you at Wembley yesterday? How good was it?
00:06:17 Yeah, enjoyed it, yeah, good team isn't it?
00:06:20 How you doing? You all right for a photo, you all together?
00:06:25 Yeah, you too.
00:06:26 Just call me Bob. Okay, it's not my name, but do you want a picture? That's fine, you five?
00:06:35 Great stuff.
00:06:40 George, if you're stopping to get loads of pictures,
00:06:43 sorry for the lack of commentary of what's happening.
00:06:45 Yes,
00:07:01 you're probably going to be in the Crawley Observer this week, so make sure you buy a copy.
00:07:12 How you doing? You all right? You want a photo?
00:07:14 Excellent, yeah, you three? Excellent, great stuff.
00:07:23 Oh, this is going to make a good photo. How many of you are there?
00:07:27 Brilliant.
00:07:32 Lovely stuff, how you doing? I can't sign it, sorry.
00:07:40 How you doing? Photo? Yeah, brilliant. Do you want a photo together?
00:07:47 Oh, are they? Okay, cool. Excellent.
00:07:54 Excellent, taking lots of photos here, these Crawley fans,
00:07:59 they want to be in the Crawley Observer this week, that's the thing.
00:08:01 How you doing?
00:08:02 Excellent, I don't think many people have, yeah. Excellent stuff.
00:08:09 Oh, look at that, that's great. Oh, you've got lots of signatures as well, fantastic.
00:08:13 Brilliant stuff, we've currently got 80 people watching us on Facebook, so yeah.
00:08:19 So, look at that, you've got loads of signatures on there, look at that,
00:08:22 great stuff, and on the back of his shirt, brilliant.
00:08:25 How we doing?
00:08:29 Little devils, love it.
00:08:34 Right, I've got to go back across, I'm going to run down quickly.
00:08:45 I've got to go back across, how you doing? Look at that, brilliant.
00:08:50 Cool, great stuff, enjoy this evening guys.
00:08:53 Oh, that was good fun, wasn't it? Walking around there, I'm absolutely knackered now.
00:09:02 So, we're just about to go ready for the players, I think, to come out.
00:09:06 I'm running on the pitch, I reckon I could bang one home from 40 yards here,
00:09:12 wheel right style, that's Crawley Observer, player of the year, wheel right.
00:09:25 I think Sam is just about to go and kick things off.
00:09:41 So, I think the order of play is Sam's going to say a few words,
00:09:48 get the backroom staff out, all the people behind the scenes that have helped keep this run
00:09:55 club running, people like general manager Tom Allman.
00:10:00 See Jeremy Kelly in the background there.
00:10:24 How you doing? Good.
00:10:25 Let's see, Freak up there, one of the main sponsors.
00:10:27 Amazing.
00:10:35 Mark French up there, he is tour manager for the Boontown Rats, and yeah,
00:10:44 we once watched the Boontown Rats at the wharf together, it was a fun night.
00:10:51 Right, I think we're just about to get this show on the road.
00:11:03 Sam Gadson in the middle of the pitch.
00:11:06 Good evening everyone, thank you all for coming. I know it was a pretty short notice,
00:11:10 but we wanted to make sure that we got everybody here before all the players
00:11:13 shot up on holiday because there's obviously a reason we wanted everyone here today to
00:11:18 celebrate what was a really fantastic day at the home of English football.
00:11:22 I'm sure some of you are probably battling some sore heads, that unfortunately does include myself,
00:11:27 so thank you all for coming, we really do appreciate it.
00:11:30 And a thank you to the 17,000 over there at Wembley yesterday, it was a truly magical sight.
00:11:36 I don't need to do anything, I can just start the clock.
00:11:52 Yeah, you can see that the memory is still very strong in people's heads,
00:11:55 and I'm sure that that will stay with a lot of people, including myself for the rest of their
00:11:59 lives. The lads have been brilliant all season, they were completely written off,
00:12:02 but they proved all their doubts wrong by gaining promotion, and what I think we can all agree is
00:12:06 the best way possible at Wembley Stadium. We will be getting them up, and you can show them
00:12:10 your appreciation, as well as the staff, but first if you take a look at the scoreboard,
00:12:14 we're going to take a little look at the highlights from yesterday's game.
00:12:17 This has got to be fun, highlights from yesterday's game.
00:12:22 I think we're going to get a couple of big cheers.
00:12:24 Oh, Liam.
00:12:34 Oh,
00:12:46 Liam.
00:12:56 Oh,
00:13:00 Liam.
00:13:12 Oh,
00:13:27 Liam.
00:13:43 Oh,
00:13:56 Liam.
00:14:10 Oh,
00:14:30 Liam.
00:14:39 Oh, a bit of feedback there.
00:14:53 Oh,
00:15:14 Liam.
00:15:23 Oh,
00:15:34 standing ovation for all the backroom staff.
00:15:51 As a trustee of the Crawley Town Foundation, Darren Ford, my fearless leader, is out there.
00:15:56 I can assure you as part of the backroom staff that these guys work incredibly hard. This last
00:16:06 week has been absolutely mental. We've had to deal with so many things from the EFL, we've had a
00:16:12 range of merchandise, which is great to see so many of you wearing, that we've had to dish out,
00:16:16 some late nights as well, so these guys deserve every bit of that round of applause, and we can't
00:16:20 thank them enough for all of their hard work. I'm going to call the general manager, Tom Ornette,
00:16:33 over here to have a quick chat. Tom, we've worked some long hours this week in the office.
00:16:37 You know better than anyone how much these guys work to sort of help this club run,
00:16:43 but how was the last week for you? I think the word to use is relentless. It's been
00:16:50 a manic couple of weeks, I think since the Grimsby game, it's just been massively full on,
00:16:54 but what an occasion to be full on with. The playoff games were obviously magical,
00:17:00 and then to go to Wembley, take 17,000 Crawley fans, and then get the win and get the promotion
00:17:07 is unbelievable. I think that's the word that probably quite a few people are using, is
00:17:11 unbelievable, because it really is. But equally, it's not really that much of a surprise, because
00:17:16 I know how hard these guys here work, I know how hard the players who you'll see shortly work,
00:17:21 and equally all of the coaching staff. So, no, it's a testament to everyone's hard work,
00:17:25 and it's just fantastic to be able to enjoy it with everyone here today.
00:17:28 Lovely, thank you Tom.
00:17:31 Yes, Tom Hitchen, very well done. Obviously, lots of hard work goes on behind the scenes,
00:17:41 off of the field, but also on the pitch as well. So, for our next round of applause,
00:17:45 could you please welcome the on-field staff of Crawley Town Football Club.
00:17:49 You are welcome into the pitch, Jamie Day, Karl Arraman, Steve Hale, Jack Oliver, Steve Hafner,
00:18:00 Jake Fernie, Kai Tugud, Tom Doodley, Ricky McFarlane,
00:18:05 G-Arm, Daniel Khan, Ben Harwood, Pete Reynolds, George Carney and Simon Liddell.
00:18:15 Well done guys.
00:18:15 Well done Karl.
00:18:17 I'll have a picture opportunity for you guys, I know you've had plenty yesterday, but
00:18:31 I know I have to do one more. Now, these guys support Scott in the best way possible, you know,
00:18:37 it goes from the kit man all the way through to the medical department, to the analysts,
00:18:40 and all of these guys have worked so tirelessly, like the off-field staff, all season long. So,
00:18:45 you know, this award is for them as well, but I suppose there is one man that you are waiting
00:18:50 to hear from the most. So, would you please welcome to the pitch, Crawley Town Football
00:18:53 Club's manager, Scott Lindsay.
00:18:55 [Applause]
00:19:22 Scott, thank you for joining us. I'm sure it's been a whirlwind 24 hours for yourself.
00:19:27 Is it really sunk in yet?
00:19:28 No, it hasn't. It will do eventually, but I just want to say, unbelievable support all year,
00:19:37 brilliant, outstanding from the supporters, the fans. I just want to say thanks to everybody,
00:19:44 you know, the backroom staff, my staff, my family for putting up with me.
00:19:51 That's important because I said in my press yesterday that I failed as a dad, as a partner,
00:19:58 because I worked so hard and, you know, I spend a lot of time working and, trust me, I will be
00:20:04 a good dad this summer because I'm going to take them away and have a really good holiday.
00:20:07 So, I want to thank them.
00:20:09 [Applause]
00:20:22 But the reason we're here today is because of the players. They've been unbelievable. Like,
00:20:28 I've been really hard on them, you know, I've given them a lot of information,
00:20:32 but they've taken it on and executed it perfectly most weeks, you know. We've not always got it
00:20:39 right, but they've tried so hard and, by the way, they're half pissed now.
00:20:46 [Laughter]
00:20:52 They certainly are and I think you will be seeing that very shortly, but Scott, just a couple more.
00:20:57 You touched on the players there. How much does this mean to them? Because we spoke a lot in
00:21:04 press conferences recently about the age of the squad. A lot of them would have been playing at
00:21:07 Wembley for the first time, been involved in player campaigns for the first time, but
00:21:11 they seem to have handled it really well.
00:21:13 They've been unbelievable. You know, listen, there's some young lads in there who've never
00:21:18 played at this level of football before. I think there was nine players in the squad yesterday
00:21:22 that were playing non-league football last year and credit to them. They're just fantastic. You
00:21:28 know, listen, it probably helps us actually, the fact that they turned up yesterday and
00:21:32 nothing fazed them. You know, the big stage, the big crowd, the stadium, everything, it didn't
00:21:38 faze them. They just went out and played our way. I'm really proud of them. Honestly, I've
00:21:42 said it in many interviews, I would run through a brick wall for them.
00:21:46 Yeah, and finally, the fans, as you said already, they've been terrific all season. The support
00:21:52 for yourself and the players has been absolutely amazing. So, to see that sea of red, 17,000
00:21:57 people there at Wembley yesterday, that must be sort of up there in career high moments for
00:22:00 yourself.
00:22:01 Yeah, for sure. The fans have been brilliant. I've built a real bond with them and I love
00:22:06 them. I love every one of them. I'm really grateful for how they've been with me and my squad
00:22:15 of players and my staff and my family. We feel really, really at home here and I love every
00:22:23 one of them. Let's enjoy what we've done because we've done so much and this is a real, real
00:22:30 achievement. I'm proud of everybody and I'm proud of everybody connected to the club.
00:22:36 It's been amazing.
00:22:37 Ladies and gentlemen, Scott Lindsay.
00:22:56 This is where things could get interesting. We're going to have one fist bump, aren't we?
00:23:02 We won't interrupt that.
00:23:04 Yeah, this is where things are going to get interesting because we're going to start
00:23:15 introducing the players onto the pitch. As Scott mentioned, they have been in the pub
00:23:19 all day. I did pop down earlier. This could be scary, to be honest, but we might as well
00:23:26 just crack on and we'll have some fun with it along the way. To start things off, would
00:23:30 you please welcome Crawleys number one, Corey Adai.
00:23:33 The second player that we will be welcoming out is Crawleys number two, Kellen Gordon.
00:23:55 Now, this is where things are really going to get interesting because while I was at
00:24:08 the pub earlier, I had a little chat with Liam Kelly and he's decided that he wants
00:24:12 to do a little bit of emceeing. While we welcome him onto the pitch, I am then going to hand
00:24:17 him the microphone. Apologies in advance for anything that he might say. Please welcome
00:24:22 Crawleys number four, Liam Kelly.
00:24:24 [Cheering]
00:24:44 Liam, it's very easy. You've got a list of players here. Just read them out and say
00:24:47 a little bit about them.
00:24:48 But first, there's a bit of breaking news. I heard that the Reds are going up. The Reds are going up. The Reds are going up. The Reds are going up. The Reds are going up. Ole, ole.
00:25:08 Next up is number five, Harry Ranturn.
00:25:16 [Cheering]
00:25:32 Right, everyone, I need you to join in with this song. It goes like this. He drinks the
00:25:40 vodka, he drinks the Jager, his head is massive. Lawrence Maguire, Lawrence Maguire, he drinks
00:25:52 the vodka, he drinks the Jager, his head is massive.
00:25:59 [Cheering]
00:26:06 Next up is our Young Player of the Year, superstar Clydee Lollas.
00:26:13 [Cheering]
00:26:25 Yeah, Young Player of the Year.
00:26:27 [Cheering]
00:26:36 Next up, I think he scored a few goals this year, but I'm not sure. I think it goes by the name of Danilo Ossi.
00:26:46 [Cheering]
00:27:12 Next up, number 10, and he goes by the name of Ronan Darcy. Yes, Ronan Darcy.
00:27:25 [Cheering]
00:27:43 Next up, Ronan Darcy, Ronan Darcy, Ronan Darcy, Ronan Darcy.
00:27:52 [Cheering]
00:27:56 Next up, next up, next up, next up. I heard he is the best man in the world, and I heard
00:28:05 he scores goals because his name is Jack Rose. Yeah!
00:28:12 [Cheering]
00:28:16 Yeah, Jack Rose!
00:28:18 [Cheering]
00:28:30 Next up, we have a number 12, but unfortunately he's not here, thanks to the gaffer. Yeah, number 12 is not here, he goes by the name of Moose.
00:28:40 But unfortunately he didn't turn up. He did not turn up. I don't know why, but he's not been here.
00:28:48 Next up is number 30, Ryan Sanford. Yes, yes!
00:28:54 [Cheering]
00:29:10 Next up, number 14, Harry Forster. Yes, yes!
00:29:20 [Cheering]
00:29:44 Next up, he is one of the best people I've ever met, so Sunny Fish, you deserve this. Yes, Sunny Fish.
00:29:54 [Cheering]
00:30:12 Next up, number 17, Jed Brown. Yes!
00:30:18 [Cheering]
00:30:32 Everyone, give the biggest round of applause to this guy, because he is one of the best footballers I've ever met. Jeremy Kelly. Yeah!
00:30:42 Yeah, he's from across the pond. Yes, so welcome him. Yes, Jeremy Kelly.
00:30:50 Jeremy, if he don't come, I'll tickle his bum with a lump of celery. Jeremy, Jeremy.
00:31:06 Next up, number 20, Joy Mckenna.
00:31:12 [Cheering]
00:31:32 Next up, number 22, Adi, who has the best feet I've ever seen in football. So Adi, you are the best.
00:31:44 Adi the body, yeah! Adi the body!
00:31:54 [Cheering]
00:32:04 Next up is a crawly legend, so the crowd has to start singing with me. Ready?
00:32:10 [Singing]
00:32:38 Next up, he is the angriest man in football, and he's been my partner all season, the players player, Jay Williams. Yeah!
00:32:52 [Cheering]
00:33:07 Next up, number 27, Rafiq. Enjoy mate, enjoy. Yes, yes, yeah.
00:33:19 [Cheering]
00:33:31 Next up, I've had the privilege of not getting called the smallest footballer in the squad, thanks to this man. Yes, it's number 28, Adam Campbell. Yeah!
00:33:43 [Cheering]
00:34:00 Number 29, next up is Flo. Yes, yeah!
00:34:08 [Cheering]
00:34:22 Next up is probably the guy that carries the changing room. He's number 30, and his name is William Wright. Yes, yeah!
00:34:32 He carries it, he carries the changing room, William Wright. Yes!
00:34:41 [Cheering]
00:34:53 Next up are the two biggest part of our team, the captain and the vice captain. Number three, Dion Conroy, and number seven, Ben Gladwin. Yeah!
00:35:09 [Cheering]
00:35:35 Right everyone, listen, listen, listen. Gano told me there's about 2,000 people in here, so we're going to start the song of the Reds are going up for Leone.
00:35:48 Reds are going up for Leone. Reds are going up, reds are going up, reds are going up, reds are going up for Leone! Reds are going up for Leone! Reds are going up, reds are going up, reds are going up for Leone!
00:36:12 Reds are going up, reds are going up, reds are going up, reds are going up, reds are going up for Leone!
00:36:18 Thank you everyone, yes, I am the laugh of the party.
00:36:32 I told you they was pissed.
00:36:38 Guys, a round of applause for these boys, unbelievable.
00:36:42 [Cheering]
00:36:55 I don't really know what to say, I don't really know how to follow that up, so what we can do is lift the trophy for one more time.
00:37:05 [Cheering]
00:37:17 Here we go again.
00:37:19 One more time, because there's a bit of breaking news and I heard the Reds are going up, so we've got to sing it.
00:37:28 Reds are going up for Leone!
