00:00 Yay.
00:01 [GUNSHOTS]
00:03 [SCREAMS]
00:06 Hi, I'm Kerry Washington, and I am playing
00:09 Pop Quiz with Mary Claire.
00:11 Ready?
00:13 [LAUGHS]
00:15 Oh, god.
00:16 OK.
00:17 Last song you got stuck in your head.
00:20 It would be "Cuff It."
00:21 "Foe," "Show."
00:23 It's the song of the year.
00:24 There's no escaping it.
00:25 And why would you want to?
00:27 [GUNSHOT]
00:29 [LAUGHS]
00:32 Word your friends would use to describe you.
00:35 Oh, my gosh.
00:36 I hate this question always, because I feel like you
00:38 should just ask my friends.
00:39 I have friends here.
00:45 Friends, what word would you use to describe me?
00:49 Bossy.
00:50 I'm so glad I asked my friends.
00:52 Bossy.
00:54 I'm a boss, who is sometimes bossy, apparently.
00:58 [GUNSHOT]
00:59 [SCREAMS]
01:00 [BLOWS RASPBERRY]
01:02 Do better, Gary.
01:03 OK, here we go.
01:04 Last book you read.
01:06 Well, right now, I'm reading "Spare" by Prince Harry.
01:10 So I think that counts.
01:10 [GASPS]
01:13 [GUNSHOT]
01:14 [HUMMING]
01:17 Favorite dance move.
01:18 I like a lot of dance moves.
01:21 I like a lot-- let's see.
01:23 Do I have a favorite dance move?
01:24 Some microphones here.
01:25 The classic wop.
01:26 That's the one that makes me feel silliest, like the wop.
01:30 It went-- does that count?
01:34 OK.
01:36 Oh.
01:37 Oh, I have to do another one of these.
01:38 [GUNSHOT]
01:41 How did you make your first dollar?
01:44 I made my first dollar working for my mother,
01:46 because she was the president of the Bronx Reading Council.
01:50 And they used to always have these mailers.
01:52 And so she would gather my cousins and I around the table,
01:55 and we would fold up these flyers and stuff envelopes
01:58 and close them.
01:59 And she paid us, which is really kind,
02:02 now that I think about it, because she's my mother.
02:04 She didn't have to pay me.
02:05 So that's nice.
02:07 [GUNSHOT]
02:08 [YELLING]
02:10 What should every woman try at least once in her life?
02:17 So many things.
02:20 Every woman should try many, many, many different things
02:23 in her life.
02:24 But I think what every woman should try at least once
02:27 in her life is to withstand the feelings of disappointing
02:33 other people to do what feels right to you.
02:36 Feels really good.
02:37 [GUNSHOT]
02:41 Guilty pleasure watch on TV or streamer?
02:43 I don't believe in this whole guilty pleasure watch thing.
02:47 I feel like if it gives you pleasure, no guilt.
02:49 Things that give you pleasure should be happy things.
02:51 No guilt. So the things that give me pleasure
02:53 when I watch them?
02:54 I used to really, really, really love
02:59 Ayanla Fix My Life on OWN.
03:02 I was really sad when Ayanla ended that show.
03:05 She's amazing.
03:08 [GUNSHOT]
03:10 Do you have any secret talents?
03:13 I'm learning that I have really good capacity to love lizards,
03:18 because my son has a lizard named Spiral.
03:21 And I love Spiral more than I ever thought
03:23 that I could love an amphibian.
03:26 Reptile?
03:27 Not sure, but I love him.
03:29 [SCREAMS]
03:32 Do I have them on my face right now?
03:34 Oh, go-to late night snack.
03:38 Oh.
03:39 I am a dark chocolate lover, like above 70%, above 80%
03:46 if possible.
03:47 Like a good dark chocolate.
03:49 It is my happy place.
03:50 And you can never have too much of it.
03:53 There's not enough of it in the world for me.
03:55 You're welcome.
03:57 [GUNSHOT]
04:00 All right, this one says, what makes you feel
04:03 most powerful or confident?
04:06 I think the thing that makes me feel most powerful
04:09 and confident is when I am really in a faithful place.
04:15 Like when I feel close to God, to my spiritual practices,
04:19 when I feel like I'm trusting in kind of my higher power,
04:24 then it allows me to feel more confident and powerful.
04:27 [SCREAMS]
04:30 What advice would you give your younger self?
04:33 Oh, dear.
04:35 I mean, I would want to tell my younger self to just relax.
04:40 I would want to tell my younger self that it's going to be OK
04:44 and to just try to enjoy the journey.
04:47 But I know that some of that desire and drive
04:52 is part of how I have the life I have today.
04:54 But I would just want her to trust more and be
04:58 excited and ambitious, but without as much fear and worry.
05:02 The number one thing on your bucket list.
05:08 Well, I've recently learned that you're not
05:10 supposed to call it a bucket list.
05:11 You're supposed to call it a live it list.
05:14 So I have a few.
05:15 I'll say two.
05:16 One is to visit County Kerry in Ireland,
05:18 because I've never been there.
05:19 And I'm named after County Kerry,
05:21 so I feel like that's a big one.
05:22 And then I really want to see the Northern Lights.
05:25 Two more.
05:26 [GUNSHOT]
05:27 [GASPS]
05:29 The penultimate question is, most star-struck moment.
05:34 I've done two movies with Sir Anthony Hopkins.
05:37 And the first time that I worked with him,
05:40 I was super nervous about meeting him,
05:42 because he's one of my favorite actors of all time.
05:44 And I ran into him at craft service.
05:46 And he, of course, was very calm.
05:49 But I was, like, shaking and nervous
05:51 and didn't know what to say to him.
05:53 And he was so kind and so sweet.
05:55 And I'm really grateful that he was so kind and so sweet,
05:58 because it was crazy embarrassing.
05:59 I don't get star-struck a lot, but that was one for me.
06:02 The last silver balloon is apparently a bonus question.
06:07 Lord, help me.
06:08 OK, here we go.
06:10 [GUNSHOT]
06:11 [EXHALES]
06:12 Tell us your story in six words.
06:16 What?
06:17 Oh, god.
06:18 OK, my story in six words.
06:20 This is so hard.
06:24 Everything's seven words.
06:26 OK, wait, let me try.
06:26 [LAUGHS]
06:28 Bronx girl finds meaning in the journey.
06:32 That's seven, but you'll have to accept it.
06:34 [LAUGHS]
06:37 All right, everybody, that's a wrap.
