00:06 into how Amy saw the world.

00:08 We're using her album, "Back to Black,"

00:10 to get a real insight into how she saw the people in her life

00:14 and how she loved very deeply and very hard.

00:18 We could sense from the script that it

00:20 was incredibly important that we kind of dived headfirst

00:24 into this love story.

00:28 I'm just very lucky that Jack is an incredibly

00:30 playful, fun, charismatic actor and person.

00:34 So we were just able to play off each other in a way that

00:38 felt really natural.

00:39 It was a fun experience for me as an actor

00:42 to let Jack take control in those scenes.

00:45 Her music shows us how she was feeling

00:49 and how she was feeling about the other people in her life,

00:52 about herself, about the world at any given time.

00:55 I always felt that it was very important to almost go

01:00 in as hard as I can straight away,

01:01 because once you step out on stage

01:04 and sing in front of 400 extras in the room sometimes,

01:08 it's just a completely raw, new experience.

01:11 These people often are Amy fans.

01:14 I definitely felt a desire to show them

01:18 what they were going to be getting straight away,

01:21 so that they would then feed back as an audience.

01:24 I think that was a part of playing a performer that you

01:28 can't really get in training.

01:31 After the first go, and they call cut,

01:35 the 400 extras really did cheer.

01:39 And that was such a gratifying feeling to me,

01:42 because it's one thing having your singing teachers be like,

01:45 you're doing great.

01:46 But to have a room full of strangers

01:47 essentially give me that feedback was--

01:51 I was just like, OK, we're on the right track here.
