Celebrities turn up at the Pride of Scotland Awards at Glasgow’s Hilton and share why the event is so important

Pride of Scotland happened last night, with Scottish celebrities celebrating achievements.

00:00 Well, this is the third time we've been coming and Jules is presenting an award tonight.

00:04 And I just think the people that you meet are so extraordinary.

00:08 And we've always, the first couple of years we were like, we were inspired

00:12 and we just want to keep coming back year after year.

00:16 It's the feeling of this one, it's like the stories and the way they put

00:20 together all the stories, there's something about it and it's a really emotional night

00:24 and there's just always a lovely, lovely feeling in the room. Honestly, it's fantastic.

00:28 So, it is really important, it's a really important one.

00:31 Pride of Scotland is so important to me because why not celebrate all the amazing

00:36 people we have in our country and just shout from the rooftops and have a big

00:40 a big knees up celebrating them and hopefully making them feel special.

00:44 This event is very important because as I was previously saying, I've been to a lot of

00:50 as an actor you go to lots of shows and award ceremonies and people get,

00:58 it's a sort of self-congratulatory thing, but this is very different.

01:02 This award is for people who are unsung, who did it not expecting to be recognised

01:12 for what they did, but just doing things for their community.

01:16 And that is incredibly important, you know, that sense of cohesion within the community,

01:22 doing great stuff for people and I'm very happy to be here and to award people

01:30 who have made a real difference to our society. Not actors that, you know, do their

01:36 thing and that's fine, but people that have really spent their lives making a difference

01:42 to our society and I feel privileged to be part of that.

01:47 Tonight is all about everybody else and it just sheds light and brings a whole exposure

01:55 to the whole event so that's incredible.

01:58 An incredible celebration of, you know, some people who've made some incredibly

02:02 remarkable achievements in Scotland and what a wonderful day to celebrate them all.
