When a long-term inmate at a mental clinic in Scandinavia confesses to a series of brutal murders on the eve of his release, his therapist, a police officer, and the inmate himself set out to reconstruct the details of the case and comprehend the murky reality that emerges. Each of these characters hope to find a concealed truth: troubled criminal Mads looks to understand his past, his trusted confidante Anna seeks validation of her psychoanalytic theories, whilst investigator Soren sees both as his key to solving a number of cold cases.
As the trio struggle to discern fact from fiction, all are dragged deeper into a deadly game of psychological dependency that threatens to destroy them all.
Inspired by the incredible story of Scandinavia’s most infamous serial killer, this chilling Nordic noir crime-thriller stars Golden Globe® Winner Stellan Skarsgård (Chernobyl, Dune), Academy Award nominee Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie, Birdman, Oblivion), and Gustaf Skarsgård (Vikings, Westworld, Oppenheimer).
What Remains premieres exclusively on the Icon Film Channel from 3 June. In select UK cinemas 5 July.

00:00I'm Anna Rudbeck, your new therapist.
00:05The truth always stems from childhood.
00:08Dr. Rudbeck.
00:09I don't care about his treatment or his well-being.
00:13He's a criminal.
00:14This is my job.
00:15Before I knew it, I was already on his back, strangling him.
00:18That gurgling sound that came out of his throat was his animal.
00:19I saw him.
00:21And the other boy too.
00:22Matz, what are you saying?
00:23He just confessed another murder.
00:24You don't understand.
00:25Precisely.
00:26That's why I'm here.
00:27Try to feel for him.
00:28He needs to be heard and understood.
00:29He killed a 13-year-old boy.
00:30Did this really happen?
00:31I mean, I'm not even sure how it happened.
00:32It's too late.
00:33It's too late.
00:34It's too late.
00:35No.
00:36It's too late.
00:37It's too late.
00:38It's too late.
00:39It's too late.
00:40I'm sorry.
00:41I'm sorry.
00:42I'm sorry.
00:43It's too late.
00:44It's too late.
00:45It's too late.
00:46It's too late.
00:47It's too late.
00:48I'm sorry.
00:49I mean, I'm not even certain what I remember.
00:51Maybe it's all just my imagination.
00:53But he's a victim, too.
00:56Get off!
00:57Murderer!
01:03How old were you when it first happened?
01:06Three.
01:08I was so ashamed.
01:11It's not a matter of choice, it's about your survival.
01:13He must have had something I was desperate for.
01:16Murderer!
01:19No!
01:24I don't think I ever had such a relationship with anyone before.
