00:00 RNLI lifeguards returned to Lincolnshire's beaches over the weekend. We caught up with them in training.
00:07 Hello, so my name is Mark Sutton, I'm a lifeguard supervisor for the eastern area.
00:12 Today we've got some of the lifeguards just doing their time swim, so it's a required fitness test that we have to do from the beach lifeguard.
00:18 So they're currently doing a 400m swim, they have to do it within the 7.5 minutes, then from there we've got some other bits and bobs that we're doing there, so we'll hopefully be able to share that with you in the future.
00:29 The training goes on all this week, doesn't it, ahead of you all getting back on the beaches at the weekend.
00:36 Are you glad to be back? Because you've been coming for a few years now, haven't you?
00:40 Yeah, so this is my sixth year and it keeps on bringing me back each year. There's nothing beach, just being on the beach every day, nice warm weather and also just meeting all new people and helping them out, that's the main point, I come back.
00:51 And you're at university aren't you?
00:53 Yeah, currently at Leeds doing my Masters in Strength and Conditioning, so hopefully trying to progress further. I'm currently working with Leeds Rhino, another school, Queen Etelberg School up there, so when this week of training is done I'm back up there working again.
01:06 And then obviously here for the summer, so will he get you for a few more summers?
01:14 Yeah, hopefully, we'll see what happens in the future. End of the day Skigness is always going to be my home and I'd love to come back for the family and also love to come back for this job as well. Loving being on the beach for the summer.
