00:00The April inflation report came out this morning, and inflation pooled, but red gas and car
00:07insurance are still the key drivers of inflation.
00:11I know you all speak about the health care provisions and the inflation reduction at
00:15the chips and at the American Rescue Plan, but what's your message to Americans who are
00:19looking for relief around housing in red and gas is creeping up as we head into the summer
00:26season and car insurance is becoming a huge expense for people.
00:30What's your message to Americans outside of use your voice in November to vote Republican
00:35ballot?
00:36Our voice is look at our track record and what we've done to reduce the costs that everyday
00:41Americans face, but our work isn't done.
00:44And none of us are up here saying that our work is complete.
00:48Our work is incomplete because we haven't done enough in order to lower those costs,
00:53but we will advocate for priorities that continue to do that.
00:57When I think about housing and look, all of us come from areas that feel this concern
01:03every day.
01:05Efforts that Maxine Waters has taken policies that we have tried to get over the finish
01:11line to make investments in affordable housing to drive down those costs to allow increased
01:18homeownership opportunities.
01:21Those are things that our communities are talking about and those are the investments
01:24that we feel are worth making.
01:26So time and time again, we will continue to do this.
01:29We've we've tried to check oil and oil companies from from their efforts as well
01:36in the past.
01:37Those are the things that the public can expect us to continue to champion, but we understand
01:42the cost that they're facing.
01:43We understand that it's that it's difficult.
01:45We hear it.
01:47We acknowledge it.
01:48We know that we can do two things at once.
01:51We can both acknowledge that the president has created 15 million, you know, good paying
01:55jobs around this country while realizing that costs continue to rise for Americans and that
02:01there is more work to be done.
02:03Is the vice chair said this is something, you know, lowering cost is something that
02:08the caucus is very focused on at policies that we can introduce and implement within
02:14the next Congress when when we're in charge is very much top of mind.
