00:00 "I hear such different accounts of you as puzzlingly exceedingly."
00:02 "I hope to afford you more clarity in the future."
00:07 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for movie couples who started
00:12 off on the wrong foot, only to eventually fall head over heels in love. For this list,
00:17 we're not including animated movies.
00:19 "Well, you shouldn't have been in the West Wing!"
00:22 "Well, you should learn to control your temper!"
00:26 Number 30 - Melanie Carmichael and Jake Perry - Sweet Home Alabama
00:31 Reese Witherspoon plays Melanie, a country girl who broke away from her humble,
00:36 small-town beginnings and made it to the big city. When she gets a marriage proposal from
00:41 a wealthy man, she returns home to secure a divorce from Jake, the husband she left behind
00:46 as she tried to reinvent herself in the big time. The two clash immediately, as they didn't exactly
00:52 get closure on their marriage.
00:54 "You dumb, stubborn, redneck hick! The only reason you won't sign these papers is because
00:58 I want you to!"
00:59 "Wrong! The only reason I ain't signing is because you've turned into some toity-toity yankee!"
01:04 Melanie's shame about her roots and Jake's fear of the big city drive a lot of their conflict,
01:09 but they eventually realize they're not so different after all. But the road to get there
01:14 is rocky.
01:14 "Why do you make me be mean to you? Is that what you want? To be humiliated in front of
01:19 all of your friends?"
01:20 Number 29. Jan Morrow and Brad Allen. Pillow Talk.
01:25 They don't make them like this anymore. No, literally, this one is based on phone
01:29 technology that doesn't even exist anymore.
01:31 "Hello, hello, hello! Is anybody on this line?"
01:34 "Yes, I am on the line. Would you please get off it?"
01:36 "All right, but you're on my half hour."
01:38 "Ooh, Rex? Rex, are you there?"
01:41 "Yes, ma'am. Who was that?"
01:44 Doris Day and Rock Hudson play Jan Morrow and Brad Allen, two singletons who have the
01:49 misfortune of sharing a party line through the telephone company. Between his womanizing and
01:54 her need to conduct her business from home, the two develop a feud without ever having
01:59 seen each other. So when Brad develops a plot to meet her and court her in character as a
02:03 southern gentleman, it's like love at first sight. The ensuing antics are pure 50s squeaky
02:09 clean rom-com delight.
02:11 "Uh, ma'am?"
02:12 "What?"
02:12 "I might have to call the automobile club. Help get me out of this thing."
02:21 Number 28. B and Ben - Anyone But You
02:25 This Sidney Sweeney and Glenn Powell-led romantic comedy feels like a return to a long-neglected
02:31 genre. Young professionals B and Ben had a great first date a few months ago, but by the time
02:37 they're in the same wedding party, they've had a falling out.
02:40 "Have you guys made up?"
02:41 "All good."
02:42 "If he just stays away from me."
02:44 "Don't need an invitation for that."
02:45 "I think you do if you're like, 'You can't leave me alone.'"
02:47 "Same reason I slowed down at a car crash."
02:49 Though the rest of the characters spend most of the movie plotting to get them together
02:53 for the sake of not ruining the wedding, their relationship has off-the-charts levels of
02:57 tension. But it's also off-the-charts charming. Each new miscommunication and accident multiplies
03:04 their connection, even as the two insist they can't stand each other.
03:07 "Today is where your book begins, the rest is all unwritten."
03:14 Number 27. Andy Anderson and Benjamin Barry - How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
03:19 Most haters-turned-lovers stories involve two people with different intentions.
03:25 Andy and Ben turn this dynamic up about 10 notches.
03:29 "Oh, you are already falling in love with me."
03:32 "I'm gonna make you wish you were dead."
03:35 Unbeknownst to each other, they enter the relationship to prove two different hypotheses
03:40 about dating. Andy begins doing everything she can to prove she can drive any man away
03:44 with the most obnoxious and needy behavior. Unfortunately for her, Ben is trying to prove
03:50 he can use his charm to romance anyone. The two put each other through the wringer. They have to
03:55 endure every ridiculous thing the other throws at them, or they'd ruin their own experiment.
04:00 "Now I'm a pathological flirt?"
04:02 "I sweat when I get nervous."
04:03 "Which one is it, Andy? Hell, besides, why would I need to hit on another woman?
04:07 You've got more than enough personalities to keep me completely occupied."
04:11 Number 26. Alex Claremont Diaz and Prince Henry - Red, White, and Royal Blue
04:17 The intricacies of international politics can make any movie more complicated,
04:21 but it's not just patriotism that makes sparks fly between the first son of the United States
04:27 and a British prince in Red, White, and Royal Blue.
04:30 "Did your parents send you to snobbery school,
04:31 or does looking down on people just come naturally to you?"
04:34 "Well, in your case, I would say it's rather inevitable."
04:36 "We are the same height!"
04:38 "If you say so, Alex. Great to see you."
04:39 "You too, your majesty."
04:41 A public snubbing several years ago drove a serious wedge between Prince Henry and Alex
04:46 Claremont Diaz, and their public spat at a royal wedding lands them both in hot water.
04:51 Coming together in the midst of a PR nightmare, they must pretend they're closer than they are.
04:56 It doesn't take long for them to realize that it's not actually so difficult.
05:00 "Look, I know I owe you an explanation. My behavior was appalling."
05:06 "Shut up. Stop talking."
05:07 "Wait a minute."
05:11 Number 25.
05:12 Tiffany Maxwell and Patrizio "Pat" Solitano Jr. - Silver Linings Playbook
05:18 These two have a lot in common. They've both recently experienced some mental health setbacks,
05:24 and both have recently lost their partners. But their early relationship is marked by
05:28 miscommunications, and Pat's strange inability to see how similar they are.
05:33 "You are afraid to be alive. You are afraid to live. You're a hypocrite. You're a conformist.
05:39 You're a liar. I opened up to you, and you judged me."
05:43 Sure, Pat still hung up on his ex-wife, but he insists it's Tiffany who's got real problems.
05:48 Their attempts to understand each other and help heal their emotional wounds make Tiffany and Pat
05:54 a bit more psychologically complex than your average haters to lovers. Still, there's no
05:59 denying you're rooting for them by the end. "You let me lie to you for a week?"
06:02 "I was trying to be romantic."
06:04 "You love me."
06:08 "Yeah, I do."
06:10 Number 24.
06:11 Maria and Captain Georg von Trapp - The Sound of Music
06:15 When the novice nun is shipped off to be governess to the captain's seven children,
06:20 the adults don't exactly see eye to eye. Maria is a good-natured, somewhat naive person,
06:25 who is immediately perturbed by the lack of warmth in the von Trapp household.
06:30 The captain's regimented and emotionally detached relationship with his children
06:34 doesn't exactly impress her.
06:36 "Do you or do you not have difficulty remembering such simple instructions?"
06:39 "Only during thunderstorms, sir."
06:43 He tries to fire her, but even surly Captain von Trapp isn't strong enough to withstand the power
06:48 of Austrian folk music. As the two grow closer, formality melts away, and he begins to show a
06:54 significantly softer side toward her and his family. This one's an all-time classic.
07:00 "Do you know when I first started loving you?
07:04 At night at the dinner table when you sat on that ridiculous pine cone."
07:08 "What?"
07:10 "I knew the first time you blew that silly whistle."
07:14 Number 23.
07:16 Walter Burns and Hildegard "Hildy" Johnson. His Girl Friday.
07:20 With how fast these two are constantly talking, it's a wonder they're able to hear each other's
07:25 insults, let alone respond to them. But that's the charm and fun of watching these two exes
07:31 and newspaper colleagues spar so viciously.
07:34 "Oh, Walter, you're wonderful in a loathsome sort of way. Now will you please be quiet just
07:38 long enough for me to tell you what I came up here to say? I have a lunch date already."
07:42 "Well, break it."
07:43 "I cannot break it. Will you take your hands off me? What are you, playing osteopath?"
07:46 "Temper, temper."
07:47 Hildy Burns is a reporter looking to remarry to a mild-mannered insurance salesman.
07:52 Walter Burns is her ex-husband, a brash and underhanded newspaper editor. Instead of telling
07:58 her he wants her back, he entraps her with the promise of one last news story. And she's too
08:03 good a journalist to walk away easily. Watching them try to outwit each other just proves how
08:08 perfect a couple they are. No one else would survive it.
08:11 "Ouch."
08:12 "Nice going."
08:14 "I, uh, so sorry. Guess my foot must have slipped."
08:16 Number 22. Cher Horowitz and Josh Lucas. Clueless.
08:21 This is what happened when Jane Austen met the 90s. As her ex-stepbrother Josh constantly reminds
08:27 her, Cher Horowitz may have a faultless eye for fashion, but when it comes to being a citizen of
08:32 the world, she's, well, clueless.
08:34 "In some parts of the universe, maybe not in contempo casual, but in some parts,
08:38 it's considered cool to know what's going on in the world."
08:41 "Thank you, Josh. I so need lessons from you on how to be cool.
08:44 Tell me that part about Kenny G again."
08:46 Her concern with aesthetics and popularity above all else is at constant odds with his sense of
08:52 social responsibility. If they hate each other so much, why are they so concerned with what
08:56 the other one thinks? Well, that's the point. And the moment Cher realizes she's in love with Josh
09:01 is equal parts sweet and hilarious. Just forget about the whole ex-stepbrother part.
09:06 "What are the chances of you shutting up till you get your way?"
09:10 "Slim to none. Come on!"
09:12 Number 21. Peter Warren and Ellen Ellie Andrews.
09:16 "It Happened One Night."
09:18 In this screwball comedy, a stuck-up heiress defies her father and runs away on a bus to
09:23 hide out. She crosses paths with the wily but unscrupulous newspaper reporter Peter Warren.
09:29 "Isn't that just too cute? There's a brain behind that face of yours, isn't there?
09:36 You've got everything nicely figured out for yourself, including this."
09:41 Who essentially holds her hostage for the scoop on her story. The two can't stand each other.
09:46 He's uncouth and she's spoiled. So naturally they fall in love. Their adventures across America have
09:52 them arguing about pretty much everything, including the proper way to hitchhike.
09:56 "I'll stop a car and I won't use my thumb."
09:59 "What are you going to do?"
10:01 "It's a system on my own."
10:03 [Car driving]
10:10 Even for a classic, this one's pretty steamy. A scene where star Clark Gable appears shirtless
10:15 was once even claimed to lead to a drop in undershirt sales. But that's not the only
10:20 thing "It Happened One Night" may have popularized. It became the blueprint for
10:24 enemies-to-lovers rom-coms.
10:26 "Do you love her?"
10:27 "A normal human being couldn't live under the same roof with her without going nutty.
10:30 She's my idea of nutty."
10:32 "I asked you a simple question. Do you love her?"
10:34 "Yes! But don't hold that against me. I'm a little screwy myself."
10:38 Number 20. Tristan Thorne and Yvaine. Stardust.
10:42 Some romances are written in the stars, while others involve one. In the magical world of
10:47 Stardust, Tristan sets out to retrieve a fallen star to impress his crush, and that remains the
10:53 same even after the protagonist learns that the star has taken the form of a young woman called
10:58 Yvaine.
10:59 "You're the star? You're the star? Really? Oh wow, I'm sorry. I had no idea you'd be a..."
11:07 Surprisingly, Yvaine is not too enthusiastic by the thought of being used as a gift,
11:13 and Tristan chaining the star up does not help matters. These two could not have gotten their
11:18 relationship off to a worse start, but a near-death experience and a helpful pirate send Yvaine and
11:24 Tristan down a different and far more magical road.
11:27 "You want to know what the captain really whispered to me that day?
11:29 He told me that my true love was right in front of my eyes.
11:37 And he was right."
11:40 Number 19. Woody Dean and Nell Bedworth. It's a boy-girl thing.
11:45 There's no relationship so strained that a good old-fashioned body swap cannot fix.
11:50 It's a boy-girl thing centers around two neighbors, Woody and Nell, who are complete opposites and
11:56 cannot help but argue about everything. "You're such a moron. You really think that the world
12:00 revolves around rap music, football, and hanging out with the right crowd?" "You know what? You
12:03 make me sick. You think you're so different to everyone else." "You're different from..."
12:07 Their toxic dynamic is annoying enough to prompt an Aztec god statue to take matters into his own
12:13 hands and force them to swap bodies. While Woody and Nell initially react to the situation by
12:19 trying to sabotage each other's lives, the teenagers eventually grow to appreciate and
12:23 even love one another. It goes beyond the cliche that opposites attract, as Woody and Nell learn
12:29 to look beyond their respective outer shells. "And that's why I know that this means nothing.
12:34 And you mean everything." Number 18. Johnny Castle and Francis "Baby" Houseman.
12:44 Dirty dancing. The power of montages and 80s pop tunes should not be underestimated.
12:50 Baby and Johnny come from different backgrounds, and at the Catskills Resort,
12:54 they are not meant to mix. Although their first meeting is relatively cordial,
12:58 Johnny is far less willing to accept Baby when she replaces his usual dance partner for an
13:03 important show. "Johnny, you're a strong partner. You can lead anybody." "But you heard her. She
13:08 can't even do the merengue." "She can't do it. She cannot do it." After some intense training,
13:13 a classic song, and an iconic lift, Johnny begins to think differently of Baby. Before long,
13:19 the two have developed a strange love that transcends class and leads to one of the best
13:23 moments of their lives. "It's a truth, and I'll hold it up to you." Number 17. Mike Chadway and
13:32 Abigail "Abby" Richter. The ugly truth. Whether arguing on live TV or kissing in a hot air balloon,
13:38 Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler are never anything short of electric. Abby is a romantic
13:44 who is desperate for love. Meanwhile, Mike takes a more sardonic and calculated approach to
13:49 relationships. "Okay, let me help you out here. You might as well face the fact that you're going
13:54 to be alone and stop pining away for some fantasy guy you're never going to get." "How can you
13:59 possibly..." "Hey, lassie, the show's called The Ugly Truth. If you can't face it, don't call."
14:05 When the pair end up working together, Abby and Mike's strong natures and contrasting perspectives
14:10 spark a predictable contempt for each other. The Ugly Truth plays up to gender stereotypes quite a
14:15 bit, but Abby and Mike are such aggressive personalities that they shine as enemies and
14:20 also as lovers. "Yet again, I just told you I'm in love with you, and you're standing here giving
14:25 me a vocabulary lesson." Number 16. Eric Messer and Holly Berenson. Life as we know it. "What the
14:32 hell am I doing here? I don't belong here." Sometimes all it takes for a couple to realize
14:41 they're meant for each other is a fatal car crash, an unexpected baby, and a sprint to an airport.
14:46 Connected through their close friends, Holly and Eric would have gone on hating each other from
14:51 a distance if they had never found themselves suddenly acting as guardians for the same baby.
14:55 After disliking each other while under the same roof, Eric and Holly begin to form something akin
15:00 to friendship that would eventually give birth to a new family. Number 15. Ronnie Camareri and
15:07 Loretta Castorini. Moonstruck. Share Nicolas Cage with a wooden hand and New York City. Moonstruck
15:13 is rom-com royalty. Believing herself to be unlucky in love, Loretta decides to settle for Johnny,
15:19 but things take a turn when she meets her future husband's angry brother and experiences passion
15:24 once again. "Where are you taking me?" "To the bed." In any given scene, Loretta and Ronnie are
15:31 equally as likely to argue, kiss, slap each other, or head to bed. Sometimes they will hate and love
15:37 each other in the span of a minute, and it is all convincing. "I'm in love with you."
15:41 "Snap out of it!" Moonstruck manages to be eccentric and heartfelt,
15:50 two traits reflected in Loretta and Ronnie. Number 14. Kylo Ren, Ben Solo, and Rey Skywalker.
15:57 The Star Wars franchise. "You still want to kill me?" "That happens when you're being hunted by
16:03 a creature in a mask." Over the course of three movies, Rey and Kylo Ren go from violent duels
16:09 and forced mind reads to close partners who are willing to die for each other. Despite being on
16:15 opposite sides of a galactic conflict, Rey and Ren form a deep connection not only because of their
16:20 force bond, but because of their shared loneliness, as they both seek to better understand their
16:25 places in the universe. "Rey, I want you to join me. We can rule together and bring a new order to
16:35 the galaxy." "Don't do this, Ben. Please don't go this way." Even as enemies, Rey and Ren have a way
16:42 of inspiring each other to reach new heights. As a couple, they are simply the best. Number 13.
16:48 Donald, Don Lockwood, and Kathy Seldon. Singing in the rain. There's nothing quite like a classic
16:54 Hollywood musical. A famous silent movie actor with charm and wit to spare, Don Lockwood finds
17:00 his match in Kathy Seldon, a chorus girl with aspirations of superstardom. "Kathy Seldon as
17:05 Juliet, as Lady Macbeth, as King Lear. You'll have to wear a beard for that one, of course."
17:10 "Oh, you can laugh if you want to, but at least the stage is a dignified profession. And what have
17:14 you got to be so conceited about?" Although the two have instant chemistry, Don and Kathy's meet
17:19 cute is fueled by sarcastic retorts and put downs rather than googly eyes and romance. While their
17:25 second encounter involves a cake being thrown, Don becomes infatuated by Kathy's independence
17:30 and strength. It's not long before Don and Kathy are singing to each other and making hearts flutter.
17:36 "I was desperate."
17:42 Number 12. Phil Connors and Rita Hansen, Groundhog Day. "Okay, we'll try it again
17:48 without the sarcasm." "We got it." A sarcastic weatherman, Phil Connors is not easy to get
17:53 along with, as his producer Rita Hansen knows all too well. However, when the pair of them are stuck
17:59 in Punxsutawney on Groundhog Day, their animosity is destined for change, although it takes a while.
18:05 "Do you ever have Deja Vu?" "Didn't you just ask me that?" Phil becomes stuck in a time loop,
18:10 repeating the same day over and over. During his time spent in Groundhog Day,
18:15 Phil falls for Rita, and during several loops he romances her. But it isn't until he finds
18:20 true happiness and love for her, and she for him, that he's able to escape and start a life with her.
18:25 "You're here." "I'm here."
18:32 Number 11. Sebastian Wilder and Mia Dolan, La La Land. "Alright, I remember you, and I'll admit I
18:39 was a little curt that night." "Curt?" These two struggling artists definitely don't get off on
18:44 the right foot. Their first meetings occur during very stressful moments for each of them, causing
18:49 them to feel negatively towards one another. However, Mia and Sebastian's continued run-ins
18:53 cause them to discuss their passions, acting and jazz respectively, and their passion for each
18:58 other blossoms in turn. In the end, what brought them together serves to break them apart, though,
19:03 as their pursuit of their dreams leads to their breakup, even if their love endures.
19:08 "I guess we're just gonna have to wait and see."
19:10 Number 10. Declan O'Callaghan and Anna Brady, Leap Year. What happens when an idealistic
19:18 stager from Boston must travel across Ireland with a gruff innkeeper who needs some cash?
19:23 Forced together out of necessity and nothing else, Anna and Declan have to tolerate each other until
19:28 they get to Dublin, which proves hard to do when their trip meets one disaster after another.
19:33 "No one touches the music!" As they survive all of the mishaps and inch closer to their destination,
19:42 Anna and Declan grow more comfortable with each other. However, any budding feelings of romance
19:47 are pushed aside in favor of what's safe and familiar. Ultimately, Anna realizes that maybe
19:52 Declan is who she needs in her life. "I don't want to not make plans with you. I want to make
20:00 plans with you." Number 9. Nicholas Devereaux and Mia Thermopolis, The Princess Diaries 2,
20:07 Royal Engagement. "I loathe you." "I loathe you." Political intrigue, a royal wedding,
20:14 and Julie Andrews. The Princess Diaries 2 has it all. Genovia's princess, Mia, is required to pick
20:20 a husband to stop Nicholas Devereaux from seizing the throne, although the young lord's actions are
20:25 primarily driven by his uncle. Charismatic and funny, Nicholas does catch Mia's eye, but the
20:31 princess understandably finds it difficult to trust someone who is vying for her crown.
20:36 Removed from his uncle's influence, Nicholas proves himself to be distinguished and kind,
20:40 and it does not take long for the guy to become enamored by Mia's compassionate nature.
20:45 "Listen to her. She'll lead us into the 21st century. And besides,
20:50 just think how lovely she'll look on our postage stamp."
20:54 Number 8. Andrew Paxton and Margaret Tate, The Proposal. Occasionally on film, blackmail is just
21:03 a step on the road to love. A powerful editor-in-chief who does not care much for her
21:08 subordinates, Margaret treats Andrew, her assistant, without even the slightest hint
21:12 of common courtesy. "I do think you order the same coffee as I do just in case you spill,
21:16 which is in fact pathetic." "I'm impressed." "You'll be impressed if you didn't spill it in
21:20 the first place, and remember you're just a prop in here." "Don't say a word." In response, Andrew
21:24 hates his boss, something that does not change after the two get engaged so that Margaret would
21:29 not be deported. Andrew and Margaret spend the first half of The Proposal stuck in a power
21:34 struggle, but a trip to Alaska and a near-drowning experience opens their eyes to the fact that they
21:39 are more than just tools to be used and discarded. "Turns out it's not easy to ruin someone's life
21:44 once you find out how wonderful you are." Number 7. John Bender and Claire Standish,
21:49 The Breakfast Club. "You richies are so smart, that's exactly why I'm not heavy in activities."
21:54 "You're a big coward." In fairness to these two, you don't really expect to meet someone
21:58 in detention. Each of them is guilty of judging each other, as well as their fellow students,
22:03 by stereotypes. Claire is the spoiled, rich, popular girl, and Bender is the delinquent.
22:08 The latter lives up to the label by generally being a jerk to everyone around him,
22:12 particularly Claire, whom he drives to tears several times. "So you just strip to the things
22:17 that you know. Shopping, nail polish, your father's BMW, and your poor, rich, drunk mother
22:22 in the Caribbean." "Shut up!" However, as the detention wears on, they get to know each other
22:26 better and come to understand why they are how they are, ultimately finding common ground and
22:31 a budding attraction. Number 6. Benedict and Beatrice, Much Ado About Nothing. "I love you
22:44 with so much of my heart, that none is left to protest." No matter the adaptation of this
22:50 Shakespearean comedy, Benedict and Beatrice have plenty of animosity for each other. A lord and a
22:55 governor's daughter, the pair of them have a long history of engaging one another in insults,
22:59 pranks, and other amusing embarrassments. "Scratching could not make it worse,
23:04 and for such a face as yours were." "Well, you are a rare parrot teacher." When their friends
23:09 conspire to get them together by causing them to overhear of their supposed feelings for each other,
23:14 their witty barbs take on a greater undercurrent of affection and they eventually marry,
23:18 though there are plenty of witticisms before they get there. "Peace, I will stop your mouth."
23:28 Number 5. Joe Fox and Kathleen Kelly, You've Got Mail. "Oh, you poor sad multimillionaire,
23:34 I feel so sorry for you." Kathleen Kelly owns a small family bookstore, while Joe Fox owns a
23:40 larger chain of stores, one of which opens up close to Kathleen's. Although they hit it off
23:45 well before she knows who he is, upon discovering his identity, they quickly become enemies,
23:50 disagreeing with each other and trying to outdo the other through their businesses,
23:54 with Kathleen eventually forced out of business. "How can you forgive this guy for standing you up,
23:59 and not forgive me for this tiny little thing,
24:03 putting you out of business?" Yet they're also falling for each other while chatting online
24:09 through anonymous emails, which Joe eventually discovers. After trying to improve her opinion
24:14 of him, Joe reveals who he is, leading them to start a relationship. "Where troubles melt like
24:20 lemon drops, way above the chimney tops." Number 4. Patrick Verona and Katarina "Kat" Stratford,
24:30 10 Things I Hate About You. "Are you following me?" Kat Stratford is an anti-social loner,
24:35 whose father bars Kat's sister Bianca from dating unless Kat dates someone too.
24:40 This leads some guys to pay bad boy Patrick Verona to pursue Kat. "Pick up on Friday then."
24:45 "Oh right, Friday, uh-huh." "Well, tonight I'll take you places you've never been before."
24:51 "Like where, the 7-Eleven on Broadway?" They're initially quite hostile to each other,
24:56 verbally sparring with one another. Despite Patrick's efforts to win her over, Kat starts
25:00 to warm to Patrick, and he begins to genuinely like her, beyond the financial motivation. Although
25:06 Kat breaks it off when she learns why Patrick started dating her, her feelings remain,
25:10 and they ultimately reconcile. "You can't just buy me a guitar every time you screw up, you know."
25:15 "Yeah, I know. But then you know there's always drums and bass and maybe even one day a tambourine."
25:22 3. Harry Burns and Sally Albright "When Harry Met Sally"
25:27 "Is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way."
25:30 When Harry met Sally, they didn't get along at first. Harry's bluntness and sarcasm clashed
25:35 immediately with Sally's proper and high-maintenance nature. "You're the worst kind.
25:39 You're high-maintenance, but you think you're low-maintenance." "I don't see that."
25:43 The duo argues nearly every time they encounter each other over a decade or so,
25:47 though it becomes increasingly good-natured, to the point where they become friends. However,
25:52 Harry holds that it's impossible for men and women to have true friendships. Despite dancing around
25:57 one another, setting each other up with their friends, and even sleeping together, they take a
26:01 long time to realize their love for each other. But Harry and Sally manage it, making for one of
26:06 the better romantic comedy pairings ever. 2. Han Solo and Princess Leia
26:17 The Star Wars Franchise "I don't know who you are or where you came from.
26:21 From now on, you do as I tell you, okay?" She's a princess and a leader of a rebellion
26:26 against a tyrannical regime. He's a smuggler, a rogue, and an all-around nerf herder.
26:31 From the moment these two meet, they can't help but bicker with each other,
26:34 no matter how dangerous the situation they're in. Yet, their attraction is equally as irresistible.
26:45 The tension between them gradually leads to a kiss, as well as several memorable declarations
26:55 of love. Despite separating sometime after having their son, it's clear these two
27:04 love each other quite a lot, and their belligerent romance is among the most beloved in cinema.

27:32 Number 1. Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet - Pride and Prejudice
27:37 Any list of the greatest haters-turned-lovers needs these two on it. Other entries on our
27:50 list reference them, and they've even directly inspired characters like Bridget Jones and her
27:54 own Mark Darcy. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy both dislike each other when they meet,
27:58 and harbor misapprehensions about the other's character. Despite their growing attraction
28:03 throughout the story, their pride prevents them from admitting it to anyone, especially themselves.
28:08 Ultimately, Darcy's selfless help in Elizabeth's family crisis leads them to finally admitting how
28:13 they feel, turning their hate into love and into one of fiction's greatest romances.
