00:05 Thank you.
00:07 Tonight the Prime Minister has finally announced the next general election.
00:12 A moment the country needs and has been waiting for.
00:17 And where, by the force of our democracy, power returns to you.
00:24 A chance to change for the better your future, your community, your country.
00:32 Now it will feel like a long campaign, I'm sure of that.
00:37 But no matter what else is said and done, that opportunity for change is what this election is about.
00:46 Over the course of the last four years we've changed the Labour Party.
00:53 Returned it once more to the service of working people.
00:59 All we ask now, humbly, is to do exactly the same for our country
01:06 and return Britain to the service of working people.
01:12 To that purpose we offer three reasons why you should change Britain with Labour.
01:20 One, because we will stop the chaos.
01:24 Look around our country, the sewage in our rivers, people waiting on trolleys in A&E,
01:31 crime virtually unpunished, mortgages and food prices through the roof.
01:38 It's all, every bit of it, a direct result of the Tory chaos in Westminster.
01:46 Time and again they pursue their own interests rather than tackling the issues that affect your family.
01:53 And if they get another five years, they will feel entitled to carry on exactly as they are.
02:01 Nothing will change.
02:04 A vote for Labour is a vote for stability, economic and political.
02:10 A politics that treads more lightly on all our lives.
02:14 A vote to stop the chaos.
02:18 Two, because it's time for change.
02:22 Our offer is to reset both our economy and our politics
02:26 so that they once again serve the interests of working people.
02:31 We totally reject the Tory view that economic strength is somehow gifted from those at the top.
02:38 Over the past 14 years, through all the crises we've had to face,
02:43 sticking with that idea has left our country exposed, insecure
02:49 and unable to unlock the potential of every community.
02:54 But a vote for Labour is a vote to turn the page on all that.
02:59 A vote for change.
03:03 And finally three, because we have a long-term plan to rebuild Britain.
03:09 A plan that is ready to go, fully costed and fully funded.
03:16 We can deliver economic stability, cut the NHS waiting times,
03:20 secure our borders with a new border security command,
03:24 harness great British energy to cut your bills for good,
03:29 tackle anti-social behaviour and get the teachers we need in your children's classroom.
03:36 But most importantly of all, we do all this with a new spirit of service.
03:43 Country first, party second.
03:47 A rejection of the gesture politics you will see in this campaign, I have no doubt,
03:52 from the Tories and the SNP.
03:55 I'm well aware of the cynicism people hold towards politicians at the moment.
04:01 But I came into politics late.
04:03 Having served our country as leader of the Crown Prosecution Service
04:08 and I helped the police service in Northern Ireland to gain the consent of all communities.
04:14 Service of our country is the reason and the only reason
04:21 why I am standing here now asking for your vote.
04:27 And I believe with patience, determination and that commitment to service,
04:34 there is so much pride and potential we can unlock across our country.
04:40 So here it is, the future of the country in your hands.
04:46 On the 4th of July you have the choice and together we can stop the chaos,
04:52 we can turn the page, we can start to rebuild Britain and change our country.
04:59 Thank you.
