00:03 The Department of Health is alarmed by the increasing number of cases of human immunodeficiency virus or HIV infection in the Philippines.

00:10 According to Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, 55 new cases are reported daily in the Philippines.

00:17 That's the highest in the world.

00:20 Most of them are young people.

00:22 In total, there are 59,000 Filipinos with HIV.

00:27 The DOH is now studying how to provide anti-retroviral or ARV treatment to minors even without parental consent.

00:37 For now, only the government can get ARV.

00:41 The DOH is also talking to DepEd to provide the youth with the right information about HIV.

00:51 The scariest part is really the increase with the very young.

00:56 I think it's education.

00:59 Because they're all young, exposure on the internet,

01:02 freer gender choices, and at that age, they're 15, they're adolescent.

01:07 They can't even understand what gender they'll be.

01:10 It's called gender dysphoria.

01:12 That's why they're getting HIV.
