00:09 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the greatest and most unforgettable lip syncs featured on RuPaul's Drag Race.
00:17 For this list, we're looking at the American seasons only.
00:20 [Music]
00:26 Number 30, Jessica Wilde vs. Raja O'Hara.
00:30 If there was ever a lip sync that was decided in the first five seconds, it would be this one.
00:35 [Music]
00:41 Everyone knew once Jessica Wilde threw off her cloak and unsheathed her very large assets,
00:47 she had already fully embodied Kim Petras' coconuts.
00:51 Regardless, Jessica continued to show that she is indeed a showstopper.
00:56 [Music]
01:02 She milked this lip sync for all it was worth, and the judges were living the entire time.
01:07 Jessica matched every move and beat of the song, ensuring that you couldn't take your eyes off of her.
01:13 Raja, on the other hand, was the most graceful lip sync loser in herstory.
01:17 She tried with all her might to make her coconuts bounce, but alas, could not.
01:22 [Music]
01:32 Number 29, Jocelyn Fox vs. LaGanja Estranja.
01:36 Part of the suspense here was due to LaGanja clearly having a rough time after the stand-up comedy challenge.
01:42 "I feel very attacked!"
01:43 This was her moment to split or get off the pot.
01:46 Unfortunately, Jocelyn also hit the split, and what's more, she turned in a great performance.
01:52 [Music]
01:58 Jocelyn Fox played Meek for most of the season.
02:01 She considered herself the black horse of the competition,
02:04 but when Rue pushed play on "Stupid Girls" by Pink, she turned into a stallion.
02:08 [Music]
02:17 This was a diva on a mission to destroy.
02:20 LaGanja did well, but she just became the collateral damage to Jocelyn's slayage.
02:25 Number 28, Gigi Goode vs. Widow Von Deux.
02:29 It may have been the COVID season, but season 12 opened with a big bang.
02:33 [Music]
02:44 Gigi Goode, the super young fashion queen whose mom made her costumes,
02:49 was not initially seen as a threat.
02:51 That is, until she won the first challenge alongside veteran queen Widow Von Deux.
02:57 Lip-syncing in front of Nicki Minaj herself,
02:59 the two took very different approaches to starships.
03:02 [Music]
03:10 While Gigi played up the manic beat and quirkiness of the song,
03:13 Widow immediately threw off her jacket and got to work.
03:17 She whipped out every trick,
03:18 including some contortionist craziness we'd never seen on the main stage.
03:23 [Music]
03:25 "I can tell that Miss Nicki is getting her mother f***ing life."
03:29 A queen who can do three splits in one lip-sync without boring the audience
03:34 is a performer with a capital P.
03:36 Number 27, Shea Coulee vs. Alyssa Edwards.
03:40 When the person who actually starts climbing the set doesn't win,
03:43 you know it was a great lip-sync.
03:45 Alyssa Edwards gave Shea Coulee a run for her money in the second episode of All Stars 5.
03:50 [Music]
04:03 She tossed off her neon fringe and threw herself into a frenzy
04:06 to the Pointer Sisters' "Neutron Dance."
04:09 She even went as far as climbing the wall at one point.
04:12 However, Alyssa met her match in Shea,
04:14 who twirled and whipped it up like a KitchenAid mixer across the main stage.
04:19 "Girl! Oh my gosh, this lip-sync.
04:21 [Music]
04:23 Whoa, I'm excited."
04:25 Jujubee said exactly what we were all thinking.
04:28 This was a very exciting performance.
04:30 Number 26, Shea Coulee vs. Monet X Change.
04:35 Two of the best lip-syncers among the All Winners cast
04:38 faced off to this Kylie Minogue song.
04:40 [Music]
04:51 We don't think there could have been a more appropriate title than "Supernova."
04:55 The amount of talent, creativity, and sheer flexibility on that stage was actually overwhelming.
05:01 Rather than try to bury each other, the two almost seemed like they were performing a duet.
05:06 If Shea stormed the stage, Monet was right beside her.
05:10 If Monet was doing a split, Shea was doing a high kick.
05:13 [Music]
05:22 And when they seductively hit the floor at the same time,
05:24 the entire studio went wild.
05:27 And so did everyone lucky enough to watch it from home.
05:30 Number 25, Denali vs. Kimora Hall.
05:34 There are moments when a queen lets everyone know they're here to dominate the competition.
05:38 [Music]
05:50 For Denali, this was that moment.
05:52 The Chicago queen had bombed in the week's acting challenge.
05:56 But watching her work her arms to Crystal Waters' 100% pure love
06:00 was all the redemption she needed.
06:02 [Music]
06:14 How many queens have pretended to be a clock on stage?
06:17 She may have looked like a parrot, but Denali was giving 100% pure peacock
06:21 as she strutted across the stage and wiped the floor with the doomed Kimora Hall.
06:26 Granted, Kimora looked gorgeous, but her cumbersome train hindered any attempt
06:30 to give a decent lip sync.
06:32 Number 24, Ginger Minj vs. Mayhem Miller.
06:36 Lizzo's phone is a perfect showcase for the drag queen who can sell sexy and funny.
06:41 [Music]
06:54 That's exactly what Ginger Minj and Mayhem Miller served here.
06:58 At least, their version of those things.
07:00 If you didn't tell us who the lip sync assassin was, we wouldn't be able to tell.
07:04 [Music]
07:14 Ginger Minj and Mayhem Miller both performed like they had everything to lose,
07:18 which made their battle far more interesting than it should have been.
07:22 The two have very different styles.
07:24 Clearly though, they weren't bothered in the slightest.
07:26 [Music]
07:31 This was another lip sync where the two worked in tandem to give everybody a show.
07:35 Number 23, Laganja Estranja vs. Trinity K. Bonet.
07:41 Did she just jump from there?
07:42 Yes, she just jumped from there.
07:44 - Oh, y'all wanted a twist, eh?
07:46 - Uh-oh.
07:47 [Music]
07:53 When her season six sister leapt from a platform onto the main stage,
07:57 Trinity had to make sure to let everyone know that the first stunt didn't count.
08:02 By the time they got to the actual lip sync to Dua Lipa's physical,
08:06 Laganja was owning every bit of the stage.
08:08 [Music]
08:20 Trinity served attitude before whipping out her own bag of tricks, flips, and twirls,
08:26 but Laganja had already pulled up in her U-Haul and stole the win right from under her.
08:31 In just three short minutes, Laganja became the highlight of the entire season.
08:35 [Music]
08:45 And to think she was only a lip sync assassin.
08:48 Number 22, Anitra vs. Marsha Marsha Marsha.
08:52 While the season aired, Judge Michelle Visage was so bold as to say this was her favorite lip sync ever.
08:59 And it wasn't just PR.
09:01 Anitra and Marsha Marsha Marsha left everything but blood on the main stage.
09:06 So many queens try to pull stunts that don't quite go with the song they're performing.
09:10 In this lip sync, the tricks were the whole show.
09:13 [Music]
09:17 - Free Willy!
09:18 [Music]
09:25 Yes, we all remember the iconic Free Willy moment, but don't let that fool you.
09:29 This was a true battle.
09:30 Marsha put up a real fight, and against anyone else, she would have had a chance.
09:35 [Music]
09:44 She probably didn't think Anitra would upstage her big moment with an even bigger one.
09:49 Number 21, Chi-Chi Devane vs. Thorgy Thor
09:54 By the end of this season 8 episode, the writing was pretty much on the wall for Thorgy Thor.
09:58 [Music]
10:05 Nevertheless, that didn't stop Chi-Chi Devane, the Bayou Queen,
10:09 from delivering a lip sync smackdown that shook the entire studio.
10:13 It brought the drama, the suspense, and all the emotions.
10:16 Chi-Chi's season-long underdog story was nearing its peak.
10:20 When her beads broke at the climax of the song,
10:22 it was a stunning make-or-break moment of theater.
10:25 [Music]
10:32 Even RuPaul was visibly shook by it.
10:34 It's also kind of hilarious and touching to watch Thorgy accept defeat,
10:38 and even lift Chi-Chi's hand in victory as the song ends.
10:42 She rose to the challenge and crushed it.
10:45 [Music]
11:02 Number 20, Kenya Michaels vs. Latrice Royale
11:06 Every time the season's Miss Congeniality lip-synced, it was bittersweet.
11:10 [Music]
11:22 No one wanted to see Latrice Royale go,
11:25 but we always knew we'd get a show when she was in the bottom two.
11:28 Not only was her rendition of Aretha Franklin's 'A Natural Woman'
11:31 an undisputed masterclass in drag performance,
11:34 it was one of the most decisive victories in drag race herstory.
11:38 Latrice is a top-tier entertainer, even when her competition puts up a fight.
11:43 Her lip-sync against Dita Ritz is a prime example.
11:46 [Music]
11:58 But here, she was peerless.
12:00 Latrice completely embodied the song,
12:02 filling every lyric with pure emotion.
12:05 [Music]
12:18 Her decision to simply plant her feet and deliver
12:21 rendered opponent Kenya Michaels' showy ballet dance ridiculous in comparison.
12:26 Number 19, Jujubee vs. Sahara Davenport
12:30 With such different styles, Jujubee and Sahara Davenport's lip-sync
12:34 to Alana Miles' 'Black Velvet' could have gone either way.
12:37 Jujubee is one of drag race's tightest lip-syncers,
12:40 while Sahara Davenport's ballet background
12:42 made her one of the show's most unique performers.
12:45 Thanks to the copious supply of cocktails served during 'Untucked,'
12:48 Jujubee was just a little bit tipsy during this performance,
12:52 which comes out in the loose and sultry way she works the stage.
12:55 "This is my moment. This is my last chance to show Rue and the other judges
13:00 that I deserve to be here."
13:02 Sahara's delicate spins, on the other hand,
13:05 make for an interesting counterbalance.
13:08 But while they were enough to beat Morgan McMichaels earlier in the season,
13:11 they weren't interesting enough to save her from elimination this time.
13:15 "Jujubee, Shante, you stay."
13:20 Number 18, Trinity Kebonae vs. Adore Delano
13:25 It looked like Adore Delano's time on season six was about to be over
13:28 when she landed in the bottom two with lip-sync assassin Trinity Kebonae.
13:32 "I know that ain't nobody perfect, I give props to those who deserve it,
13:36 and believe me, y'all, he's worth it."
13:38 Trinity had already sent home April Caron and Milk,
13:45 but Adore wasn't going to be her third victim without a fight.
13:48 The pair had to perform to Paula Abdul's 'Viabology,'
13:54 and there was some extra pressure from Paula herself being there to judge them.
13:58 Nobody felt this more than Adore,
14:00 who'd already been judged by the pop icon previously on 'American Idol.'
14:04 "I'm hearing you converse, I'm going, 'I know this person.'"
14:07 "Season seven of 'American Idol.'"
14:09 "Yes, 'American Idol.'"
14:10 Though it was a close call, Adore proved her star power in this performance,
14:14 and went on to become recognized as an assassin herself.
14:18 "Adore Delano, Shante, you stay."
14:23 Number 17. Monet X Change vs. Dusty Ray Bottoms.
14:27 Death drops have almost been done to, well, death on 'Drag Race.'
14:36 So much so that doing one now usually needs a little something extra added on in order to impress.
14:41 Case in point, Monet X Change and Dusty Ray Bottoms lip-synced to Nicki Minaj's 'Pound the Alarm.'
14:47 The club banger demanded two very high-energy performances,
14:50 and Dusty, despite being more at home with musical theater, really gave it her all here.
14:55 However, she couldn't compete with Monet,
14:57 whose fake-out and pre-jump cross sign had RuPaul and Michelle Visage howling with laughter.
15:03 Death drops just haven't been the same since.
15:05 Number 16. Naomi Smalls vs. Gia Gunn.
15:14 "And to the ones I love, know that you're the reason why.
15:17 I dare to live my life, I dare to liberate my mind."
15:21 In a shocking twist on the All Stars formula, the remaining All Stars four contestants had
15:25 to battle against each eliminated queen in the Lollaparooza Challenge.
15:30 This is how Naomi Smalls and Gia Gunn locked horns, performing RuPaul's club tune, 'Adrenaline.'
15:35 "Naomi is goofing me, honey. She's a rock, ha, ha, ha, legs. She's just going down. It's static."
15:42 Out of all the queens competing in the challenge,
15:44 Naomi and Gia were probably the most underrated as far as lip-syncing.
15:48 This battle dispelled all of that. From Gia's boging to Naomi's floor crawl,
15:52 it was electrifying to watch. Should it have been a double shantay?
15:56 Well, we wouldn't have complained.
15:58 Number 15. Aquaria vs. Cameron Michaels vs. Eureka O'Hara.
16:08 "This is your last chance to impress me and prove to the world that you are America's next drag superstar."
16:18 While it's usually only the top two that lip-sync for the crown, there are some rare exceptions.
16:23 Season 10 was one such occasion, with Aquaria, Cameron Michaels, and Eureka O'Hara all progressing
16:29 to the final showdown of the live finale after poor Asia O'Hara's butterfly fail knocked her
16:34 out of the running. And wouldn't you know it, the selected song "Bang Bang" was also a three-hander.
16:39 Expectations were high given that Cameron and Eureka scored a double save already in the season,
16:54 but though Cameron was a lip-sync assassin and Eureka had plenty of tricks,
16:58 Aquaria's energy stole the spotlight.
17:01 "Bang bang, what you looking at? Bang bang, what the hell you looking at?"
17:08 Number 14. Bendelecrem vs. Aja.
17:11 "Don't want none unless you got buns, hun."
17:14 "Boy, Tway named Troy used to live in Detroit. Big, big, big money."
17:20 As performers, these two couldn't be more different. Bendelecrem is a campy,
17:24 old-school queen, whereas Aja is a fashion-forward dancing queen.
17:28 "Now that's real, real, real. One in my purse 'cause I can't just kill."
17:34 Nowhere could this be more apparent than in their lip-sync to Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda"
17:38 in the first episode of All Stars 3. The song was perfect for Aja's style,
17:43 playing to all her strengths as a lip-syncer and to her aesthetic as a rapper herself.
17:48 "My anaconda don't, my anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun."
17:54 But Bendele used her contrasting style to her advantage, playing up just how funny it was for
17:59 her to be performing to a Nicki Minaj track of all things. The judges were sent into hysterics.
18:05 "Aja's giving y'all Nicki Minaj blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
18:09 and Bendele's giving you more comedy version of the anaconda."
18:13 Number 13. Jackie Cox vs. Widow Von'Du.
18:18 "I want Mama Ru to see why she brought me here and that even though I let her down in this
18:24 challenge, I'm a fighter and I'm not gonna let her down in this lip-sync."
18:28 Sometimes the right song, the right performers, and the right outfit can make a lip-sync that much
18:33 more magical. This was very much the case with Jackie Cox's battle in the bottom two against
18:38 Widow Von'Du in season 12. The pair's brilliant twists on the Stars and Stripes runway theme,
18:44 combined with the Katy Perry anthem "Firework," made for both a powerful statement and a powerful
18:49 performance. Jackie Cox's hijab and caftan combination was especially effective in this
18:55 regard, and you can see from the emotion on her face how much it meant to her to be on the runway
19:00 wearing it. "I'm exploding out on that stage because I'm feeling the weight of everyone who's
19:05 ever been told they need to go back home where they come from and I'm here to let them know that
19:10 baby you're a firework when you have a place right here in America." In fact, celebrity guest judge
19:16 Jeff Goldblum was moved to tears by her passion.
19:19 Number 12. Kennedy Davenport vs. Katya. Speaking of Katy Perry anthems, they don't come much
19:41 bigger than "Roar." In season 7, Kennedy Davenport and Katya squared off for a place in the top
19:46 four to the track, and the fight was a fierce one.
19:49 The two are very different performers. While both always bring heart and soul to their lip syncs,
20:08 Kennedy is known for her slick choreography and Katya, her flexibility. Both proved this
20:13 when the lip sync kicked into high gear. Kennedy leaping into the splits from the stage floor,
20:18 while Katya, not to be outdone, cartwheeled into the splits seconds later. Can we get an amen?
20:23 Number 11. Jinx Monsoon vs. Detox.
20:34 "It's more than I can even process right now. My body, it's all numb."
20:42 "I'm pissed off that I'm here. It's devastating." As far as lip syncing goes,
20:48 it's hard to find a song trickier to perform than "Malambo No. 1" by Ima Sumac.
20:52 The vocal range and the constantly changing tempo make the mambo classic a real tongue twister.
21:05 We already knew that Detox was worthy of rising to the challenge with her infamously flexible jaw,
21:10 which made it seem like a one-horse race from the start. However,
21:13 we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Jinx was hiding a similar talent.
21:17 "Jinx is kicking and dancing and she's bumping her hips. I hate to say it, but Detox might be
21:28 getting out-danced by Jinx." What ensued was a lip syncing tour de force, and Jinx knocking a
21:33 powerhouse like Detox out of the competition set her on a course for the overall season win.
21:38 Number 10. Raja vs. Carmen Carrera. Every once in a while, a pair of lip syncers realized that
21:44 together, they're stronger than the sum of their parts. "Raja's getting naked. I'm like,
21:48 'This is gonna be hot because Carmen is nudity and we're gonna throw down right now.'"
21:53 As Raja and Carmen stalked each other up and down the stage to Paula Abdul straight up,
21:58 the sexual tension was palpable. "This is just soft porn. It's kind of hot."
22:03 But this is drag, and interference is not the name of the game. Right, Mimi on first? Cue stripping,
22:10 mounting, nibbling, and what turned out to be the kiss of death from Raja. Nothing says diva
22:15 like sending your competitor packing and leaving your lipstick calling card on her shoulder to
22:20 prove you were the one to take her out. Number 9. Peppermint vs. Trinity the Tuck.
22:25 Though Peppermint might have seemed like the underdog heading into season 9's grand finale,
22:30 this performance proved that assumption to be patently untrue.
22:33 Trinity the Tuck's sharp dance moves and well-timed reveal
22:41 reminded us of the perfectionist she is.
22:44 Peppermint had her own clever reveal, but it's really her tight lip syncing that snatched her
22:53 the win in this case. She went on to bring her body-popping A-game in the final battle
22:58 against Sasha Velour. There's a reason why she was known as THE assassin of season 9.
23:03 Number 8. Dita Ritz vs. The Princess.
23:10 As if the pressure of just being on RuPaul's Drag Race wasn't enough,
23:17 imagine having to lip sync for your life in front of the song's recording artist.
23:22 That's what happened to Dita Ritz and The Princess in season 4.
23:25 Soul legend Natalie Cole had a front row seat to the duo's performance to This Will Be An Everlasting
23:30 Love. While the princess did her best to stay in the game, there was just no competing with Dita
23:43 Ritz. There was hair flipping, sequins flying around, Dita took us to church, and we, along
23:49 with Ms. Cole, happily went with her. Number 7. Jujubee vs. Raven. You knew it was coming.
24:00 The most emotional lip sync in Drag Race herstory.
24:03 Raven and Jujubee made for a dream team in the first season of All Stars.
24:13 Their slip-ups in the main challenges were always compensated for in their lip syncs.
24:17 I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh.
24:23 Raven even took down Alexis Mateo and Yara Sofia single-handedly this way.
24:29 But the All Stars showed a softer side to her Ice Queen persona when she had to go up against her
24:34 teammate. Lip syncing to Robyn's emotional disco song "Dancing On My Own," the pair were visibly
24:39 overcome by the whole thing, and the battle ended up being a heartfelt duet.
24:43 But I'm not the guy you're taking home, oh. I keep dancing on my own.
24:54 I keep dancing on my own. There wasn't a dry eye in the studio by the end.
25:00 Number 6. Roxy Andrews vs. Alyssa Edwards.
25:11 There's no holding back, there's no tiptoeing around. I have to bring everything.
25:16 There's an old saying that goes, "If you're gonna snatch your own wig,
25:19 you better make sure you've got another hidden underneath."
25:22 Okay, that's not a real saying, but Roxy's iconic reveal, in all its camp glory,
25:27 has certainly raised the standard of acceptable reveals.
25:29 It pretty much set the bar to which all subsequent wig reveals are judged.
25:38 If it were up to us, Roxy would have won this lip sync on wig alone. But Mother Ru,
25:43 in her infinite wisdom and mercifulness, gave both queens a second chance at the
25:47 end of this electrifying, whiplash-inducing lip sync.
25:51 Shante, you both stay.
25:53 Number 5. Manila Luzon vs. Delta Work.
25:58 The joy of this lip sync is how silly these two queens look together.
26:07 Looking like the world's weirdest amateur dramatics production of chess,
26:11 Manila and Delta serve high camp, joining forces at the end to deliver a hilarious finale.
26:16 Manila's crossed eyes from fake exertion is one of her trademark tricks,
26:26 and something we've come to expect from her in seasons since.
26:30 [Cheering]
26:32 Theatrical, high energy, and heaps of fun, it's everything a lip sync needs to be.
26:42 Number 4. Coco Montrese vs. Alyssa Edwards.
26:46 Nothing brings out the big guns like an old rivalry. And these pageant queens with a
26:59 messy history let rip in a bid to outperform each other.
27:02 After all the drama with our last pageant experience, we both want this crown. This
27:08 will be the tiebreaker. The rivalry between them results in an incredible display of
27:12 one-upmanship in this season five smackdown. When Coco lip syncs the spoken word segment flawlessly,
27:18 Alyssa leaps into the splits. That spinning jump into the split, I mean, come on.
27:24 And when Alyssa splits, Coco delivers what can only be described as rhythmic gymnastics
27:29 via the medium of sleeves. While the latter wins the battle, what makes this performance
27:33 so memorable is the fact that it's a true meeting of equals. Cold-hearted rivals in
27:38 a red-hot battle to the end. Number 3. Alyssa Edwards vs. Tatiana.
27:43 Alyssa is already a one-woman show when it comes to lip syncing,
27:53 but Tatiana made sure this wasn't one-sided.

29:39 Number 1. Yves Yardley vs. Brooklyn Heights.
29:44 Seeing the two frontrunners of Season 11 in the bottom two was a shock,
29:48 and their battle was one of the most intense we've ever seen.
29:50 This was a contest between two queens at the very top of their game,
30:01 one with a ballet background and the other with a body like a rubber band.
30:05 They match each other's moves like for like in the performance,
30:13 never letting the other get the upper hand. Brooklyn had an amazing reveal earlier on in
30:18 the runway, while Yves matched that in the lip sync with one of the smoothest wig reveals ever.
30:23 Sorry, Roxy. Naturally, the next time these two competed head-to-head, it was for the crown.
30:28 "Chante, you both stay."
30:32 Which drag race lip sync lives rent-free in your head? Sound off in the comments below.
30:40 "Cover girl, put the bass in your walk. Head to toe, let your whole body talk."
