00:00 Bubba's a really sad story.
00:01 He has not ever been treated like a dog.
00:03 What?
00:04 I am Norma, and this is Bubba's story for GOVs.
00:07 He was found as a stray.
00:09 Apparently, what happened was a gal that had dogs,
00:12 he was like at her front door.
00:13 And she said he was actually friendly, but she had dogs,
00:16 and she couldn't take care of another dog.
00:18 So she brought him to the shelter.
00:19 He was spotted black, but still the black dog stigma
00:22 was obviously playing against him
00:25 because he had no interest.
00:26 So he was four days from getting euthanized.
00:29 I really wanted to help a dog that's really in need.
00:32 We got him from California to Seattle through the rescue.
00:35 When we got him, he didn't look skinny.
00:37 He was emaciated.
00:38 He was just-- it was derby.
00:39 It was all very new to him.
00:41 Doesn't know what to do.
00:42 He just kind of stands there.
00:43 He must have realized, this is a good place.

00:59 So he finally got it.
01:03 What are you doing, Bubba?
01:04 [LAUGHTER]
01:08 You are so happy you're awake.
01:12 [BARK]
01:14 I love you.
01:15 He's just the sweetest baby.
01:19 My baby.
01:20 I have two other dogs, Shanti and Zoe.
01:23 We actually have video of the first time Zoe accepted.
01:27 She comes, like, creeps up to him.
01:29 He's on his belly.
01:30 And then she goes over and she gives him a little kiss.
01:32 It's the sweetest thing.
01:33 Where's the football?
01:42 Good morning, baby.
01:43 Good morning.
01:45 He's learning now to actually play with toys,
01:47 but he doesn't even know how to play with a ball.
01:49 [KISSING]
01:52 Are you so happy you're awake?
01:54 He knows I'm the one that's going to give him lots of treats.
01:56 And he knows how to get them.
01:58 He thinks every time he goes outside,
01:59 whether it's just to look outside,
02:01 he just goes to the porch and he comes right back in.
02:03 And he thinks, OK, I'm going to run the kitchen
02:05 and you're going to give me a treat, right?
02:06 He's like, no, that's not how it works.
02:08 I'm so hungry.
02:09 I'm going to eat.
02:11 You could tell he was probably in a fighting situation.
02:14 He has scars to show that he was in bad situations.
02:19 You're so sweet.
02:20 I just love you so much.
02:22 I can't stand it.
02:23 I can't stand it.
02:24 I can't stand it.
02:25 [CRYING]
02:28 He was probably kept in a crate a lot.
02:30 So he has really bad knees as well.
02:33 He kind of walks like he's older than he is.
02:36 They said he was five, but we don't know for sure.
02:39 [CRYING]
02:42 He's so sweet.
02:43 He would never know it was the same dog.
