Britain's Got Talent's live auditions concluded last night (Sunday, May 26) and saw some of the judges' children make a special appearance.
And one act got through to the live semi-finals after getting the golden buzzer despite none of the judging panel having any left. In a twist for the 2024 series, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, were issued two opportunities to hit the golden buzzer instead of one.
All golden buzzer slots had been taken as the final acts took to the stage on Sunday night. Still, the fact didn't stop the audience from begging the panel to hit the highly coveted button when Japanese skipping group Haribow finished their performance, reports WalesOnline.
The highly skilled dance group, who seamlessly incorporated a double skipping rope into their routine, impressed the judges and viewers with their somersaults, backflips, and handstands. After earning a standing ovation, audience members could be heard saying the group should get the golden buzzer, and it wasn't long before the entire venue was chanting at Simon, Amanda, Alesha, and Bruno to push the buzzer.
Two of those audience members were Simon's son Eric and Amanda's daughter Hollie. "I've done two, I've got none left," Amanda explained to her daughter, before turning to Haribow and telling them: "Oh my God, wow wow wow, I mean that's like hours and hours of practice. It was outstanding. It was like a textbook".
Alesha could just about be heard over the shouting telling the group, who had flown from Japan for the audition: "I can't hear myself think. You can see how much work has gone into this. Well done." Bruno echoed: "This is better than anything I've ever seen and you are amazing dancers as well," before turning to the audience and trying to explain to them: "Listen to me, we've got none left, we can't."
Simon then said: "That's as good as you're going to get. Sometimes you watch an audition and I'm sat here thinking I genuinely don't know what to say, when it's brilliant like this it's just... words aren't really necessary." He then paused and turned to where his son Eric was sitting and said: "Sorry, my son is going crazy right now. Is there anyone who thinks they deserve a golden buzzer?"
After screams from the crowd, Simon then said to Hollie and Eric: "You do it." The pair rushed to the panel and hit the golden buzzer, shocking Amanda, Alesha, and Bruno. Simon told Haribow: "What an amazing moment, that was my son and Amanda's daughter, egged on by the audience. We are going to see you in the finals congratulations." Turning to the audience, Simon said: "I'm going to give this one to all of you."
