New welcome hall at Canberra Hospital

The new welcome hall is set to open on June 3, 2024. Take a look inside the building before its opens.

00:00 So this is the new welcome hall for Canberra Hospital, which houses the main reception.

00:06 We'll also have a cafe, but obviously provides a great lovely place for people to come and sit as well.

00:13 So for families, for carers, for patients who are waiting maybe for an outpatient appointment,

00:19 it's a beautiful spot to just sit and relax as well as being a

00:25 great hub of the hospital in terms of navigation. So this welcome hall connects the older part of the hospital to the new

00:33 critical services building,

00:35 both on the ground floor level for the general public and also with the clinical link above us,

00:41 which is designed to ensure much greater patient privacy than is currently the case, where you see

00:46 patients being moved through the main reception area of the hospital from one part to another.

00:53 The clinical link will give them that privacy, while also enabling them as they move through to actually be able to see out

01:00 through the windows and get some connection with where they are in the wider building and in the landscape.
