Is China threatening Taiwan

China has announced the end of large-scale military exercises around Taiwan. They involved the navy, air force and missile forces. Beijing said the maneuvers were launched in response to the recent inauguration of Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te. In turn, Taipei emphasized that they continue to support the values of freedom and democracy. Meanwhile, the Pentagon said it was closely monitoring the situation. And Beijing's actions were called reckless and fraught with escalation.
