Lassie Come Home is a 1943 MGM Technicolor film about the profound bond between a Yorkshire boy named Joe Carraclough and his rough collie, Lassie. When Joe's destitute family is forced to sell Lassie to the wealthy Duke of Rudling, the loyal dog escapes and begins a long, perilous journey to rejoin her beloved owner.
The film was directed by Fred M. Wilcox and starred child actors Roddy McDowall as Joe and Elizabeth Taylor as the duke's granddaughter Priscilla. Lassie was played by a male collie named Pal, who gave a remarkable performance that was the heart of the film.
