A man has befriended a squirrel - who now visits him every day and "helps" in his jewellery shop

Todd Alan, 61, started his business in 1986 and set up his first store in 1990.

In September last year, a neighbour found an injured squirrel in the road and brought it to Todd.

After bottle feeding him every three hours for three weeks, Todd eventually nursed him back to health and named him Charlie.

Since then Charlie has been a regular in the workshop - "helping" Todd work on all his projects.

00:00 Hey, Dad. So a lot of people are asking about Charlie.
00:04 Oh, I know. Well, I didn't raise Charlie to be a pet.
00:10 I raised Charlie to save his life. He was an injured, abandoned, small squirrel.
00:17 He's got big and in January we released him back to the wild.
00:22 And he was gone for like two days. But then he came back and I've been seeing Charlie
00:29 almost every day. He comes up and still plays with me.
00:33 And he has a girlfriend, Sylvia. Charlie's really, really doing quite well
00:38 out in the wild. And that was really the goal.
00:40 So I can't see us bringing him into the store anymore.
00:44 He's too big for that. He's got a nice home in the trees.
00:48 He's doing really good now. It wasn't right to keep Charlie enclosed.
00:53 But now we have the best of both worlds. I get to see Charlie,
00:56 but he doesn't get to come into the shop and play with jewelry anymore.
00:59 He's just a little too big for that. He probably rakes all over the place.
01:03 But we'll release Charlie videos. There'll be more coming.
01:06 He'll be around. I'll miss him.
