Trump's Public Statements on Classified Documents Case Declared Unrestricted as Judge Aileen Cannon Denies Prosecutors' Request

  • last month
Judge Aileen Cannon denied a request from prosecutors to restrict Donald Trump from making public statements that could endanger law enforcement agents involved in the classified documents case. Prosecutors had asked the judge to bar Trump from making claims that could threaten or harass officers after Trump baselessly said the Biden administration wanted to kill him during the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago. The judge, who was nominated by Trump, said prosecutors did not give the defense enough time to discuss the request before filing it on a Friday evening. Trump's lawyers called the proposed speech restriction "unconstitutional" and said officers' identities are protected.
