New report paints bleak picture of the odds stacked against people who report sexual assault

The Bureau of Crime Statistics tracked the outcomes of cases that were reported to police in 2018 as they moved through the criminal justice system. It found no charges were laid in 85% of cases and fewer than 1 in 10 resulted in a guilty verdict.
