00:00 "Comfy girls? Well now that you mention it, I could use a latte. Sorry, fresh out."
00:06 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the greatest storylines in the original run of Totally Spies.
00:13 "For being glamorous international spies, we spend an awful lot of time creeping through stinking sewers."
00:19 Number 10. Spy Gladiators
00:22 When losing contestants on a show akin to Survivor goes missing, the girls are sent in undercover to find out what's up.
00:29 While Sam, Clover, and Alex are at first under the impression that the duress and danger on the show is fake,
00:34 they quickly learn that it's all very, very real.
00:38 "Is there still time to throw ourselves to the wall?"
00:40 As they progress through the arena, the girls eventually piece together that the missing contestants are being controlled by callers
00:49 and kept as prisoners to terrorize new contestants on the show.
00:53 "What the-?"
00:54 "She's there!"
00:57 In this episode, we get a certain kind of gritty action we don't often see in the high-tech spy world,
01:02 especially when Sam is collared and turned into a gladiator herself.
01:07 "You look tense. What do you say I take that collar off and give you a nice relaxing massage?"
01:12 "Hrrrraaaaaaah!"
01:16 Number 9. Alex Quits
01:18 While we certainly love the trio as is, it's hard to deny how cool Brittany is.
01:24 This is her intro episode, which would be awesome if not for how horrible Alex feels.
01:30 "You're a genius, Brittany!"
01:31 "Yeah, great thinking."
01:33 "Okay, let's not get carried away. It's not like she caught the guy or anything."
01:38 As she's the comedic relief and the spy who's overlooked the most, this episode feels like it was a long time coming.
01:45 After a series of blunders and failed missions, Alex's belief in herself takes a nosedive.
01:51 Brittany's introduction as the incredibly capable spy in training leads an already discouraged Alex to quit the team.
01:58 "Yeah, we need you, Alex. We're a team!"
02:00 "You don't need me. You have her."
02:02 Luckily, things turn out alright in the end,
02:05 but it's nice to see the relatability of characters we admire doubting themselves every once in a while.
02:10 "Training? You mean she wasn't here to replace me?"
02:13 "Aww, don't be ridiculous, Alex. No one can replace you."
02:17 Number 8. Spy vs. Spy
02:20 "Actually, I have wonderful news. You're officially retired. My original spies have taken your place."
02:25 "I don't want to be retired! I never even got a chance to have a midlife crisis!"
02:30 They really kicked up the stakes this episode.
02:33 Jerry introduces the girls' mission by telling them energy power plants are being destroyed at a global scale,
02:39 which is sure to soon leave citizens without heat or electricity.
02:43 On their mission to stop another takedown, Alex, Clover, and Sam are helped by three spies
02:49 who turn out to be Jerry's former trio, the girls who held Alex, Clover, and Sam's jobs before them.
02:55 Right from the get-go, the girls don't trust the former spies, and as it turns out, they were right to be suspicious.
03:02 "Oh yeah, nothing like a little R&R after wiping out a few power plants."
03:06 In yet another twist, though, we find out the former girls are not acting of their own volition.
03:12 Number 7. The New Jerry
03:15 "Jerry!"
03:17 With the girls often demonstrating how irreplaceable they are,
03:20 the second-ever episode cemented just how irreplaceable Jerry is.
03:25 Sam, Alex, and Clover are sent to whoop, only to discover that Jerry has decided to take his retirement
03:31 and a new guardian, Max Smit, has taken over the role.
03:34 While it's obvious from the jump that Max Smit is not what he seems, the unfolding chaos leaves us on edge.
03:41 The girls eventually chalk up the attempts on their life to a man named Tim Scamm.
03:46 As a weapons genius, it's kind of embarrassing that he's spoiled by a simple mirror.
03:50 "What are we going to do about Tim Scamm?"
03:53 "Hey, did you know that your name backwards spells Tim Scamm?"
03:58 All the same, he would become one of the show's most prominent antagonists,
04:02 which makes his Origins episode a fun watch.
04:06 "Forget about that jerk. Where are we?"
04:09 "Ahh!"
04:13 Number 6. S.P.I.
04:16 Over the course of the series, it's pretty much implied that Whoop is one of, if not the best in the business.
04:23 "Laser lipstick and a new gadget that Whoop Labs just invented. Anti-gravity propulsion rings."
04:29 "Wow!"
04:30 In this episode, their reign is threatened when a new agency, S.P.I., arrives on the playing field.
04:36 They're faster, more efficient, and certainly showy when it comes to taking down the bad guys.
04:42 At first, the girls are happy to have some help, and it doesn't hurt that the S.P.I. agents are total eye candy too.
04:49 But they soon realize that the atmosphere is more of a competitive one.
04:53 "Hi, it's me again. I just wanted to thank you guys personally for picking up some of our slack."
04:59 "Ugh. Alright, I was willing to forgive it the first time out of professional courtesy, but that was just totally rude."
05:05 In fact, S.P.I. handles missions so well, they end up putting Whoop out of business.
05:11 "Does that mean we're not spies anymore?"
05:13 "I'm afraid so. In fact, we'll probably never see each other again."
05:19 "No!"
05:22 Thankfully, Sam is characteristically suspicious of things that seem too good to be true.
05:31 Number 5. A S.P.I. is born too.
05:34 The first installment of this two-parter introduces the baddie Lumiere.
05:38 He's abducting celebrities who are hilarious parodies of actors IRL, and forcing them to make one heck of a movie.
05:45 "You'll come back and visit real soon."
05:48 "Could you please keep a lid on the one-liners?"
05:50 While this first story consists of the typical S.P.I. routine, going undercover, figuring out motive, and saving victims,
05:58 the second part really kicks things into high gear when Alex is kidnapped.
06:02 "Heeeeelp!"
06:04 "Alex?"
06:07 "Don't bother. No one can help you now."
06:11 Sam and Clover become Lumiere's puppets as they solve his riddles to save their best friend in time.
06:17 This episode is full of big action, high stakes, and nail-biting close calls.
06:22 Everything we love about the S.P.I. genre.
06:25 "Ahhhhhh!" "Alex!"
06:27 Number 4. Solo Spies
06:30 In this season six episode, the unthinkable happens.
06:34 "You mean you're breaking us up?"
06:37 "Why would you do that?"
06:39 The spies have graduated on to working solo missions.
06:43 The girls are obviously devastated.
06:46 Regardless of their ability to take on things alone, they like working together.
06:51 Even worse, Jerry splits up their living arrangements and who else but Mandy should take over the penthouse.
06:57 "Eww, Terrific! Do you smell that? There's dead to intruders in my new penthouse pad!"
07:04 Despite their grievances, the girls are each sent scout locations where fellow agents have gone missing.
07:10 We find out a deranged collector by the moniker of Fangirl is behind the abductions,
07:15 and she has pretty loose criteria about just what can be added to her collection.
07:21 "Eww."
07:22 "You can't be serious! We're people, not toys!"
07:25 Number 3. Evil Promotion Much? Parts 1, 2, and 3
07:29 The season three finale really went all out.
07:33 "Ahhhh! Sammy!"
07:35 "Okay, this is officially looking bad!"
07:39 Clover, Alex, and Sam, and a cute whoop agent named Dean, have all been chosen to undergo training in order to reach super spy status.
07:48 It isn't long before they discover the administrator Terrence is not on their side.
07:53 "You have no idea what it's like always being second!"
07:57 He orders the spies to eliminate Jerry in exchange for Dean's life.
08:01 And that's only the beginning of the action-packed ordeal.
08:05 "Now, if you want to prevent your fellow chosen one from getting crushed, I suggest you do as I say."
08:13 There are no shortage of twists in this three-parter, including a sibling reveal, Jerry robots, and a prison break.
08:20 Hell yeah, and Jerry very nearly almost kicking the bucket.
08:24 "Is that part of his plan?"
08:26 "I'm thinking. No, I'm gonna get closer."
08:32 Number 2. Totally Dunzo, Parts 1 and 2
08:35 Totally Spies always made sure to go full force with its several episode narratives, and the end of season 5 is no exception.
08:43 It was originally the initial end to the show before it was brought back a few years later, so it definitely didn't pull any punches.
08:50 "It's a payphone! Cover me!"
08:52 "Cover you? With what?"
08:54 "Uhh, positive thoughts?"
08:57 When Jerry's confidence in himself becomes vulnerable, he ends up in exactly the right position to fall for a trick.
09:04 He lets the unknown Mr. X acquire Whoop, which allows Jerry and the girls to retire.
09:09 "The world is truly a better place because of you."
09:12 "You too, Jer?"
09:14 "Yeah! You're an amazing spy, an amazing boss, and an amazing friend!"
09:19 "Totally!"
09:20 As you might expect, however, the calm doesn't last long. Between the reveal of Mr. X and a reunion with all our favorite side characters, Totally Dunzo really leaves its mark.
09:31 Still, it might be Mandy's brief redemption that seals the show.
09:35 "Your money's no good here, girls! Put this on my account and throw in some of those cute rainbow laces!"
09:41 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
09:45 Ski Trip. Mandy and the girls actually get along this episode. It only takes several near-death experiences.
09:52 "This whole thing is my fault! I'm being punished for being so horrible! If I get out of this alive, I'll never call you another name!"
10:00 "Thanks, I think."
10:02 Stuck in the Middle Ages with You. This early Season 1 episode sends the girls back in time to medieval England.
10:09 "You're never gonna get away with ruling this kingdom!"
10:11 "Hahaha! The kingdom? With these weapons, I'm gonna rule the entire world! And when I get back to the future, I'll be worth billions!"
10:20 Mommy's Dearest. Mind-controlling your enemies' parents has to be a new kind of low, even for Tim's scam.
10:27 "Stella, throw your daughter in the sauna. Then come home with me and do my laundry."
10:32 "Oh, anything for my little Timmy!"
10:35 "MOM!"
10:36 Totally Switched Again. A villain body-swaps with Jerry.
10:40 "Have you lost your mind?"
10:42 "Oh."
10:43 Malt. When Sam is brainwashed into an anti-consumerist army, it's all up to Clover and Alex to save her.
10:54 "Sam, snap out of it!"
10:56 "Remember us, we're your friends, Clover and Alex!"
11:00 "Shopping is evil."

11:17 Number 1. Like so totally not spies, parts 1 and 2.
11:22 "Hey, instead of shopping, why don't we do something exciting like skydiving or bungee jumping?"
11:27 "Are you crazy?"
11:29 These episodes certainly deserve their high rating on IMDB. Terrence is back.
11:34 And this time, he's working with evil partners he can count on.
11:38 Helge von Guggen manages to give the girls bracelets that make them forget their identities as spies.
11:44 Really, it was about time this show took a stab at a memory erasing plot.
11:48 "Suddenly, I don't feel so good."
11:51 Jerry ends up captured and all seems lost.
11:54 That is, until the baddies can't leave well enough alone and attack the girls while they're out.
11:59 Giving a lot more credence to Jerry's earlier insistence about their occupation.
12:04 "I know it may be hard for you to believe, but it's true!"
12:07 "Your secret agent's working for W.O.O.P., the World Organization of Human Protection."
12:11 "I'm your boss, Jerry, and I desperately need your help."
12:14 If you ever needed any proof about spying being in these girls' DNA, look no further.
