If you see lights above your head, it's a sign to find shelter because there's a risk that drones could fall on you. It's not that you can't enjoy drone shows; just make sure you're not standing directly underneath them. Watching from a distance is safer and often gives you a better view anyway. For example, during a show above a mall in Zhengzhou, drones started falling mid-performance, hitting buildings and vehicles below. So, to stay safe, keep some distance when enjoying these high-tech displays! Credit:

00:00 So, if you ever find yourself under lights overhead resembling the ones in the picture,
00:05 it might be best to move to safer ground.
00:07 Those lights could belong to a drone display, and the last thing you'd want is for them
00:12 to come crashing down on you.
00:13 Hey, I'm just guessing.
00:15 Just recently in China, drones unexpectedly plummeted from the sky above a mall, causing
00:20 a bit of chaos below.
00:22 The organizers blamed it on an "operation error."
00:26 Fortunately, nobody was harmed, but incidents like this occurred in the past, so it's wise
00:31 to steer clear of standing directly underneath drone shows.
00:35 There's a crazy video going around the Internet showing worms falling from the sky in China
00:41 and crawling on cars.
00:43 Some people think it's animal rain, but others aren't so sure.
00:46 Debate is still going on.
00:48 Some say the video is fake, while others argue the worms were only on cars and not on the
00:53 ground.
00:54 A few think it's just a normal thing in March.
00:56 And guess what?
00:58 The weird worm rain actually happened in the British Isles too.
01:02 In Scotland, kids playing soccer were shocked by worms raining down, possibly because of
01:07 a big weather change.
01:10 In Texarkana, a city in Texas, an unusual event occurred when fish fell from the sky
01:16 along with rain, surprising many residents.
01:19 I would guess so.
01:20 This phenomenon, known as animal rain, happens when small water creatures like frogs, crabs,
01:26 and small fish are swept up by water spouts or drafts on Earth's surface and then drop
01:32 during rainfall.
01:33 These weird rains aren't only creepy but may be dangerous for your health.
01:38 One day in Oakville, Washington, residents witnessed jelly-like blobs falling from the
01:42 sky instead of regular raindrops.
01:45 These blobs caused flu-like symptoms in those who came in close contact.
01:50 Researchers studying the raindrops discovered human white blood cells in the jelly-like
01:54 substance, leading to speculations about their origin, with theories ranging from evaporated
02:00 jellyfish to waste from a commercial plane.
02:04 Another bizarre rain event involved money falling from the sky in Hong Kong and Germany,
02:09 seemingly as a result of human stunts.
02:11 In both instances, people were surprised to see money swirling and falling from rooftops,
02:16 leading to chaotic scenes as individuals tried to collect the cash.
02:20 That's the only type of rain I want to get caught in, unless they're dropping rolls
02:24 of quarters.
02:28 Imagine a scenario where, instead of a regular lightning bolt, a massive jet shoots out from
02:33 the top of a cloud, reaching over 50 miles up into the sky, almost touching space.
02:39 This powerful and rare lightning strikes about 1,000 times a year, carrying up to 50 times
02:45 more energy than a standard bolt.
02:47 Recently, researchers discovered the largest gigantic jet on record, emanating from a cloud
02:52 over Oklahoma in 2018.
02:55 The intensity of this blast was nearly double the previous record, leading scientists to
02:59 consider it the most significant cloud-to-ground strike ever observed.
03:04 Elsewhere, in a city in northern Mexico, numerous yellow-headed blackbirds were captured on
03:09 camera falling from the sky, resulting in some tragic casualties.
03:14 The cause of their fall remains uncertain, but experts speculate that a predator bird
03:19 may have startled the flock from above, causing them to lose their balance.
03:23 A security camera recorded the birds descending onto homes like a dark cloud.
03:28 These migratory birds breathed further north in the U.S. and Canada before wintering in
03:32 Mexico.
03:33 While some theories attribute the fall to various factors such as electrical wires,
03:39 experts lean toward a predator bird in citing the chaos.
03:43 Sometimes even iguanas can fall onto your head from the skies.
03:47 In really cold weather, they go into a kind of hibernation mode to survive.
03:51 They might look frozen, but they're actually still alive.
03:54 They usually start moving again when it warms up above 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
03:59 The problem is that they might fall down from trees while they're in this chilled state,
04:03 which is dangerous both for them and your head.
04:06 Imagine a vase falling from a shelf; the principle is basically the same.
04:10 If the temperature stays below 40 degrees for too long, the aftermath might be sad.
04:16 One morning, the Fox 6 "Wake Up Show" in Wisconsin was in for a surprise when they
04:21 spotted strange lights flying over downtown.
04:24 At first, the crew thought it could be fireworks or even something extraterrestrial.
04:29 But as they continued to watch, they discovered it was just a group of seagulls flying over
04:34 the Milwaukee County Courthouse, an illusion caused by the camera's settings.
04:39 To confirm, a reporter went to the courthouse and filmed the seagulls.
04:43 Case closed, right?
04:44 Well, not quite.
04:46 The Internet wasn't satisfied, and conspiracy theories started popping up, still lingering
04:51 today.
04:52 People with too much time on their hands.
04:54 Despite videos pointing out differences in movements and height of the objects, it was
04:59 clear they were just seagulls, the result of the camera settings and angles.
05:04 Meanwhile, in the beautiful city of Rome, a charming yet tricky bird problem has residents
05:10 on edge.
05:11 As nighttime falls, citizens may come across a group of people in white overhauls carrying
05:16 speakers blaring sharp sounds to scare away pesky birds from staining their clothes with
05:21 droppings.
05:23 Every winter, starlings fill the skies above Rome in a mesmerizing display of synchronized
05:28 aerobatics.
05:29 But the mess they leave behind prompts city officials to try and shoo them away.
05:34 Sadly, sometimes the sky brings more unusual and unsettling sights, such as the case in
05:40 Olympia Springs, Kentucky in 1876, when chunks of raw meat fell from the sky.
05:47 After months of debate among researchers, it was concluded that the meat shower was
05:51 actually vulture vomit, ew, a defense mechanism or a weight-reduction tactic used by vultures.
05:58 Other strange events include birds raining down in Arkansas due to fireworks causing
06:03 disorientation, spiders ballooning and covering landscapes in Australia, and golf balls falling
06:09 in Punta Gorda, Florida, possibly due to water spouts and nearby golf courses.
06:14 Additionally, a mud rain event was recorded once.
06:18 This phenomenon led to discomfort and dirty water droplets containing dust particles falling
06:23 from the sky in an unusually brief and unpleasant occurrence.
06:27 In California, a homeowner in Torrance found themselves in a chaos straight out of a horror
06:32 movie when hundreds of birds invaded their home through the chimney.
06:37 It took three days to remove them all, leaving a massive mess that was no joke.
06:42 A similar incident occurred in Montecito, but thankfully, a steel grate prevented 1,000
06:48 birds from causing havoc within the house.
06:51 To avoid a similar invasion, experts recommend ensuring your chimney has a secure screen
06:56 to keep birds out.
06:58 Get ready to witness a spectacular display of purples and greens illuminating the sky!
07:03 No, it's not your usual aurora, but rather something known as "Steve."
07:09 Discovered by amateur sky watchers, Steve is a mysterious counterpart to the aurora.
07:14 Short for Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement (very clever), Steve was first
07:19 documented by a group of amateur aurora chasers in Canada in 2018, who shared their find with
07:25 NASA researchers.
07:27 Steve stands out for its magenta streak appearance, contrasting the conventional green ribbons
07:32 of the aurora.
07:34 While the aurora results from solar particles interacting with Earth's magnetic field
07:38 and atmosphere, Steve is believed to be a unique optical phenomenon that occasionally
07:44 accompanies auroras.
07:45 Although the exact cause of Steve is still under investigation, scientists suggest it
07:50 may be linked to charged particles in the ionosphere interacting with Earth's magnetic
07:55 field.
07:56 If you're eager to witness it for yourself, head to locations where auroras are commonly
08:01 seen, such as Canada, Alaska, Northern Europe, New Zealand, or Australia.
08:06 Keep in mind that Steve usually accompanies a powerful aurora during geomagnetic storms,
08:11 never appearing on its own.
08:14 Lastly, in southeastern Mexico, the skies turned dark as swarms of locusts passed over
08:20 Merida.
08:21 While some compared the event to a passage from the Book of Revelation, local officials
08:25 reassured the public that these Central American locusts were simply passing through and wouldn't
08:30 harm local crops.
08:32 Native to the region, the locusts came from vegetation-rich areas northwest of the city.
08:38 But despite this simple scientific explanation, some people still believe this event is a
08:43 telltale sign of the end of the world.
08:45 Well, don't hold your breath, or it will.
08:48 That's it for today!
