He was a very good backstroker, capable of winning medals at the 1958 European Championships, bronze in the 4 x 100 mixed relay with Roberto Lazzari, Federico Dennerlein and Paolo Pucci. and at the 1959 Universiade, as well as being the Italian champion and record holder several times. 5 individual titles and 2 in relays, distributed as follows: 5 in the 100 m backstroke 2 in the 4 x 100 m medley.
