Transcript
00:00 I'm here outside Headingley Stadium after the sad death of Rob Burrow at the age of 41, the Leeds Rhinos legend.
00:09 I'll be showing you some of the tributes that have been left to Rob, and I'll also be talking about the legacy that he leaves behind a bit later.
00:18 So I'll show you the scene now at Headingley Stadium.
00:27 It was announced yesterday that Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow had died at the age of 41 following a four and a half year battle with motor neurone disease.
00:39 It was confirmed by the Leeds Rhinos yesterday.
00:43 Rob spent his entire rugby league career with the Leeds Rhinos and helped them win eight Super League titles.
00:50 He retired in 2017, but two years later it was revealed that Rob had been diagnosed with MND.
00:57 And after he raised millions to help build a new care centre for MND patients alongside former team mate Kevin Sinfield, his death was confirmed by his former club on Sunday evening.
01:12 I'll read you now the statement that was issued by Leeds Rhinos announcing the sad news.
01:20 The Rhinos statement said, "It's with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved son, husband, father, brother and friend.
01:28 Rob has always been a true inspiration throughout his life, whether that was on the rugby league field or during his battle with MND.
01:36 He never allowed others to define what he could achieve and believed in his own ability to do more.
01:42 The outpouring of love and support that Rob and the whole Burrow family have received over the last four and a half years meant so much to Rob.
01:49 In particular, the rugby league family and MND community have rallied around Rob to inspire him.
01:55 Thank you for your support."
