XXIII; Sotto il Monte, 25 novembre 1881 – Città del Vaticano, 3 giugno 1963), è stato il 261º vescovo di Roma e papa della Chiesa cattolica,primate d'Italia e 3º sovrano dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, oltre agli altri titoli propri del romano pontefice, dal 28 ottobre 1958 alla sua morte.In meno di cinque anni di pontificato riuscì ad avviare il rinnovato impulso evangelizzatore della Chiesa Universale. Già terziario francescano e cappellano militare durante la prima guerra mondiale, è stato beatificato da papa Giovanni Paolo II il 3 settembre 2000 e successivamente canonizzato il 27 aprile 2014, insieme con Giovanni Paolo II, da papa Francesco, alla presenza del papa emerito Benedetto XVI, che ha concelebrato la messa di canonizzazione.Giovanni XXIII si spense alle 19:49 del 3 giugno 1963, all'età di 81 anni, mentre in piazza San Pietro volgeva al termine una messa di preghiera.

XXIII; Sotto il Monte, 25 November 1881 – Vatican City, 3 June 1963), was the 261st bishop of Rome and pope of the Catholic Church, primate of Italy and 3rd sovereign of the Vatican City State, in addition to the other titles of the Roman Pontiff, from 28 October 1958 to his death. In less than five years of pontificate he managed to start the renewed evangelizing impulse of the Universal Church. Already a Franciscan tertiary and military chaplain during the First World War, he was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 3 September 2000 and subsequently canonized on 27 April 2014, together with John Paul II, by Pope Francis, in the presence of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who concelebrated the canonization mass. John XXIII passed away at 7.49 pm on 3 June 1963, at the age of 81, while a prayer mass was coming to an end in St. Peter's Square.
