01:05 that it is time to seriously reform the pension and retirement framework,

01:12 and allow more people to accumulate enough retirement savings for later years.
01:15 It is time for Malaysia to embrace serious reform in its pension and retirement framework
01:22 to enhance its coverage, adequacy and sustainability,
01:27 and ensure financial security and equity for all Malaysians in their later years,
01:35 and contribute to positive long-term economic growth.
01:39 Anhua pointed out that the reason why the United Nations is committed to improving the lives of retirees
01:43 is because our country is only less than 30 years away from becoming an old country.
01:47 Our country must be prepared as soon as possible.
01:49 For Malaysia, it is projected to only take 23 years to make the shift from ageing nation to aged nation,
02:00 with 14% of the population well above the age of 65.
02:06 And it will take another 14 years thereafter for Malaysia to reach super-aged nation.
