00:00Gone are the days of filling out lottery picks and numbers at PCSO-authorized outlets.
00:05A mobile app to launch next month will expedite things for bettors anywhere they are,
00:12while a billion-peso lottery game will soon be out for bigger dreams and prizes.
00:17And as Alan Francisco reports in an exclusive interview,
00:21the PCSO vows to be more transparent in its operations with its new leadership at the helm.
00:30He is retired Judge Felix Reyes, the newly appointed chairman of the board of directors
00:36of the Philippine Charity Subsidies Office, or PCSO, by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
00:41In an exclusive interview with PTV News, he laid out his plans and programs for the PCSO,
00:47led by PCSO General Manager Mel Robles.
00:51First, the PCSO's plan to launch electronic or e-lotto in July.
00:55This means a bettor need not place his or her bets manually
00:59at PCSO outlets by filling betting forms with pen or pencil.
01:03Once e-lotto is available, one can place bets using a mobile application
01:08or app at any location so long as he or she is connected online.
01:26A bettor just needs to register using the PCSO app,
01:40which blocks access to minors and prevents them from registering.
01:44This will benefit overseas Filipino workers or OFWs who want to place bets from abroad.
01:49Currently, most lotto bettors are from classes C, D, and E.
01:53With the introduction of e-lotto, they expect participation from all walks of life.
01:58In October, the PCSO aims to launch the Lotto Billionario,
02:02where it could win up to a billion pesos on a hundred-peso wager.
02:23Chairman Reyes assured transparency in the PCSO in its operations and all its gaming programs.
02:54It is the PCSO's duty to use its earnings to bankroll government's outreach
03:00and social development programs to help Filipinos in need.
03:24As an alternative, we are also trying to give back to the people through medical assistance programs,
03:36such as hospitalization, chemotherapy, and dialysis.
