00:43 - Hey there, drama lovers.

00:46 of "The Killing Vote,"
00:48 a Korean drama that's got everyone talking.
00:50 So buckle up and get ready for a wild ride.
00:53 We're gonna be talking about the K-drama "The Killing Vote"
00:56 and why you should be watching.
00:58 Before we jump into the topic at hand,
01:00 be sure to like this video
01:01 and subscribe for more Korean drama goodness, okay?
01:04 Okay, now let's dive in, shall we?
01:06 So what is "The Killing Vote" all about?
01:08 Well, in a world where innocent Korean citizens
01:11 are tired of justice never being served,
01:14 a mysterious figure known as Gaetal, or Dog Mask,
01:18 puts on a dog-like mask and decides to carry out
01:21 what he considers to be justice against the criminals
01:24 he believes deserve their horrible fates.
01:27 But the twist is he doesn't carry out these killings
01:31 all by himself.
01:32 He puts out a public poll for normal, everyday citizens
01:36 called the Killing Vote to decide on
01:38 if these criminals should die or not.
01:41 Sounds pretty psycho and juicy, right?
01:42 Yeah.
01:43 So right off the bat,
01:44 me as the annoying anime fan that I am,
01:47 I felt like the show was giving death notes.
01:50 It was very similar to the gritty storyline.
01:53 A normal citizen gets hold of too much power
01:55 and decides to take serving justice
01:57 into his or her own hands.
01:59 And I love premises for these.
02:01 I'm really a sucker for this kind of storyline.
02:04 Criminals who have gotten away with doing heinous crimes
02:06 for far too long are not judged by the law,
02:10 but instead by the general public.
02:12 If over 50% of the people vote in favor
02:15 for someone being killed, then guess what?
02:17 Somebody gonna die.
02:18 It's a public lynching, basically,
02:20 and everybody is seated, including me.
02:23 Now, the story follows three main characters.
02:25 Kim Moo-chan, who is the smug, tactful leader
02:29 at the Southern Police Agency.

03:16 He's kind of self-centered and really only truly cares
03:21 about his reputation with the police force.
03:23 'Cause I get it because, you know,
03:24 I'm trying to keep a job too.
03:26 Then we have Kwon Seok-joo.
03:29 (speaking Korean)
03:32 He was once a successful scholar in the legal field,
03:51 but unfortunate circumstances led him behind bars.
03:54 And last but not least,
03:56 we have Joo Hyun, the expert hacker.

04:31 Now she's a police officer who's worked in cybersecurity
04:34 at the Bureau of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency
04:38 for five years.
04:39 She's kind of my bias in the show.
04:40 I'm not gonna lie.
04:42 She made me laugh a few times.
04:43 Can you have a bias in a K-drama
04:45 or is that just for the K-poppies?
04:47 I don't know.
04:47 If you're looking for a great show
04:48 with compelling characters and a great storyline,
04:50 this is definitely the one for you.
04:53 Even if you're just getting into the world
04:54 of Korean dramas,
04:56 this honestly wouldn't be too bad of a place
04:58 to start at all.
04:59 This is a high stakes show that will keep you guessing
05:02 and the drama truly never ends,
05:04 or seems like it won't anyway.
05:06 I mean, these episodes are like an hour long.
05:08 So grab your popcorn, grab your kimchi,
05:10 grab your bulgogi, bulgogi to say yo,
05:13 and dive on in.
05:15 Get ready to have a night
05:17 because this show is gonna take you on a wild ride,
05:19 I promise.
05:20 If you're looking for a political drama, mystery,
05:22 and don't mind maybe like a tiny bit of blood and gore,
05:26 a lot of murder,
05:27 the killing joke is your vibe.
05:29 I mean, just the first kill alone
05:31 will be enough to get you hooked.
05:32 I promise.
05:33 So you can watch it in its entirety on Prime Video,
05:37 free with Prime.
