00:45In a letter to Senator Issa Ontiveros, controversial Mayor Alice Guo of Bambantar Lak says,

00:51Lin Wenyi, a Chinese national, is my father's romantic partner and his business partner.

00:56She is not my mother.

00:58She adds, it is not true that Amelia Leal does not exist.

01:02Guo reveals the relationship between her father and Lin after Senators Sherwin Gatchalian

01:06and Ontiveros voiced suspicions Lin may be the mayor's biological mother.

01:11Lin and the Guo family are listed as co-incorporators of at least seven businesses.

01:17Guo's Filipino citizenship hinges on her claim that her mother is Filipino.

01:23But the Philippine Statistics Authority says there is a possibility that Amelia Leal does

01:27not exist at all since she does not have any birth, marriage, or death certificate.

01:34The Senate panel investigating the illegal activities of Philippine offshore gaming operators

01:39in the country has asked the National Security Council to help convince President Ferdinand

01:43Marcos Jr. to ban Pogos.

01:46The statement comes after Senator Issa Ontiveros led an executive session Wednesday, June 5,

01:51on the illegal activities of Pogos and their alleged link to Bambantar Lak Mayor Alice Guo.

01:57I hope they bring this up to the President so they can talk about Pogo as a national

02:04security threat.

02:06The meeting was done in an executive session where, in principle, discussions should be

02:10confidential.

02:11The Pogos were raided due to complaints of human trafficking and love scams.

02:16Senators found out that surveillance activities and even the hacking of government websites

02:21were traceable to the Pogo firms in Bamban.

02:24Investigators are probing Guo's alleged involvement in the two illegal Pogos, Hongsheng Gaming

02:28Technology and Zun Yuan Technology.

02:33It seems House Human Rights Committee Chairperson Bienvenido Benny Abante Jr. could benefit

02:38from a crash course on dealing with grief and trauma.

02:42During a probe on extrajudicial killings on Wednesday, June 5, Abante berated human rights

02:46lawyer Cristina Conte for bringing only three families to testify.

02:51Conte says being afraid is a preposterous reason to still hide, given that his committee

02:56promised protection to the families.

02:58He also claims that the Philippine National Police has compassion, even if it's the same

03:02PNP whose anti-illegal drug operations led more than 6,000 deaths under the Duterte administration.

03:26PHIVOX confirms rain from thunderstorms over Negros Island's Canlaon Volcano generated volcanic

03:31sediment flows, or lahars, as seen in social media posts.

03:35Moderate to heavy rain from the thunderstorms mixed with debris from the volcano were observed

03:40on Wednesday, June 5, producing lahars on Canlaon's southern slopes.

03:44The lahar then deposited gray, cohesive mud, plant debris, and gravel in at least four

03:49waterways.

03:52PHIVOX strongly recommends increased vigilance and readiness of communities along rivers

03:57draining southern Canlaon as more thunderstorms might bring heavy rain to Negros Island.

04:02Mount Canlaon erupted last Monday, June 3, its first eruption in nearly six-and-a-half

04:07years.

04:08This prompted PHIVOX to place the volcano under Alert Level 2, which means there is

04:13increasing unrest and further explosive eruptions are possible.

04:19UNICEF says 90% of children in Gaza could not eat nutrients to ensure their healthy

04:24growth and development.

04:25It says data collected between December 2023 and April 2024 reveal 90% of children in Gaza

04:32are suffering from severe food poverty, which means they are surviving on two or fewer food

04:36groups per day.

04:38UNICEF says months of hostilities and restrictions on humanitarian aid have collapsed the food

04:43and health systems, resulting in catastrophic consequences for children and their families.

04:48Israel says it puts no limit on humanitarian supplies for civilians in Gaza and blames

04:53the UN for slow deliveries, calling its operations inefficient.

04:57With famine emerging in Gaza and some children dying from malnutrition and dehydration, even

05:02Israel's allies have increased pressure on it to do more to let in food.
