00:00This is the Starship, the newest and most gargantuan spacecraft from SpaceX yet.
00:08Now in its fourth test mission, it has finally made it there and back again, launching into
00:13Earth orbit and surviving re-entry.
00:15And this was the response from the SpaceX team responsible for the achievement.
00:24The launch occurred from the company's starbase in Boca Chica, Texas.
00:27The Starship then travelled upwards into the sky and halfway around the planet before
00:31re-entering the atmosphere.
00:33As it did so, it reached speeds of around 17,000 miles per hour, with bits of its heat
00:38shield breaking off as temperatures reached upwards of 2,600 degrees Fahrenheit.
00:43It eventually made a splashdown in the Indian Ocean just northwest of Australia.
00:47Meanwhile, the super-heavy rocket booster, which propelled the craft skyward, also made
00:51a safe and controlled landing.
00:53This is the first Starship test that has not resulted in a catastrophic failure and complete
00:58destruction of the spacecraft.
01:00Still, further tests will need to be done before humans take a ride, with six more test
01:04flights scheduled this year alone.
