The Green party launch their campaign in Kent

00:00Hi everyone, as some of you know I'm Stuart Jeffery, I'm the next Green MP for Mason and Morley.

00:06I've stood a few times and since starting to stand I've watched the planet, democracy, people under huge amounts of attack.

00:21Whether it's climate change that is utterly out of control, the cost of living crisis,

00:28which has seen a hundred fold increase in the number of food banks,

00:32or the assault on democracy that's stopping people speaking out for things that really matter.

00:37We do need bold action.

00:39My name is Hannah Temple and I am the parliamentary candidate for the Green Party in Favisham and Mid Kent where I live.

00:46Hooray!

00:48And I am honoured to have this chance to stand for real change.

00:53You don't need me to tell you how devastating the last years and decades of this government have been.

00:58You don't need me to tell you because we can see the evidence of it all around us.

01:02We can see it in our crumbling roads and schools, we can see it in our sewage filled rivers and seas,

01:08we can see it in the growing queues for GPs and food banks.

01:12The case for change is obvious, don't we, but it has to be real change.

01:17We don't want broken promises, we don't want broken pledges, we want real bold action.

01:23The luckiest members of the luckiest generation that has ever lived.

01:28Our parents rebuilt this country after the war with an NHS, a welfare state, free schools and university.

01:38So why is it now there are so many people around who don't have any hope for the future?

01:44In Gravesham where I'm standing I'm hearing from so many people locally that they're really tired of two-party politics.

01:51They want change because right now they feel hopeless, they feel like they're not being properly represented.

01:58Hi, so I am Laura Manston and I'm the Green Party candidate for Sevenoaks in the general election.

02:07We've got over 800 councillors in England and Wales at all levels of governance

02:13and people are finding that when they vote for a Green candidate they get a hard-working, competent and honest candidate all year round.
