00:00 I went to many places to get the feel of a Muslim girl.
00:04 I also spoke to many Muslim women.
00:07 We have done the shooting with a lot of effort.
00:10 We have worked hard for 10 days.
00:13 And we have taken very risky shots.
00:16 I used to feel weird that why are they not accepting my autograph.
00:20 I mean what have I done that I should give an autograph to someone.
00:24 I change people's egos because I think that is the cause of all the problems we have.
00:29 [Music]
00:35 Amisha, tell me how did you get this film?
00:38 A Muslim girl who has come from Pakistan.
00:41 A girl who loves an Indian boy in the face of the situation.
00:51 And because of the situation, they come together and then separate.
00:57 Here I have played the role of a school girl and a mother.
01:02 It was a challenge for me.
01:05 It was very difficult because it was my second film.
01:09 And I had to work very hard on it.
01:14 How did you get this role?
01:18 My director Anil Sharma gave me a lot of time.
01:24 He spent a lot of sessions with me.
01:27 We worked on the physical appearance.
01:31 Because it is a period film, I could not come in front of the camera in any attire.
01:37 I wanted a definite look that would match the period.
01:41 And three different looks, that would show maturity.
01:44 A college girl, a wife and a mother.
01:48 The growth of the character should be the same as the growth of the film.
01:54 So we worked a lot on costumes, hair, makeup.
01:59 Then I focused on the script.
02:02 We used to work on the script, discuss the scenes.
02:06 I read books on Islam, Lahore.
02:09 I went to Hajiali.
02:11 I went to many places to get the feel of a Muslim girl.
02:16 I also talked to many Muslim women.
02:19 I had a lot of knowledge of that period.
02:23 Because I studied history in school.
02:27 And all together, Sakina's character became good.
02:32 What is the situation of the shooting today?
02:36 The scene before the interval.
02:38 How is your scene?
02:41 I cannot tell.
02:43 Because if I tell, it is a twist of the story.
02:47 If I tell, it will not be fun.
02:50 How do you feel working with Sunny?
02:52 Very good. He is a superstar.
02:56 But he never made me realize that he is so senior to me.
03:02 And he has been in the industry for 18 years.
03:06 He has always helped me.
03:08 He has been a gentleman.
03:10 I never get a shot.
03:13 I do not understand the director's words.
03:17 Sunny would have explained it to me.
03:20 He was always understanding.
03:24 Because he understood that I am a new girl.
03:27 And this role is very difficult.
03:29 He has always supported me.
03:32 We have worked together.
03:36 And it is looking good on the screen.
03:40 What do you think about the music of this film?
03:43 The music is very beautiful.
03:45 According to me, it is one of the best music of Uttamji.
03:48 Anand Bakshi has written such good lyrics.
03:51 And the mood of this film matches that mood.
03:56 The music coming from our dots is completely different.
04:01 And it is such a melodious music.
04:05 It is not out of fashion even after 10 years.
04:08 It is such a beautiful music.
04:11 Do you have any personal favorite song?
04:14 It would be injustice if I say one song is special.
04:22 Because every song is so important for this film.
04:26 It presents a story.
04:30 We have not kept the songs in such a way that it is just a song.
04:34 It is a dream sequence or a flash forward.
04:36 Every song makes the story move forward.
04:39 So if I choose a song alone, it would not be right.
04:43 It has a major schedule in Bikaner.
04:46 Can you tell us about your experience with that?
04:49 Our major climax was there.
04:52 A steam engine from Delhi Railway Museum came.
04:55 A steam engine from 1940.
04:57 It will be seen for the first time on screen.
05:00 No film had got permission before that.
05:03 They brought an authentic steam engine.
05:06 We worked in the middle of the desert.
05:11 We did the whole sequence of action in 48 degrees heat.
05:16 We worked in the scorching heat and hard work.
05:21 We have given such shots that we have shot on a moving vehicle.
05:25 We have jumped from one bogie to another.
05:28 When I think how we did it, my heart still beats.
05:34 I think it will never happen again.
05:37 But it will be seen on screen.
05:39 The thrill that we had to do it, it will be seen on screen.
05:45 But we have taken a lot of risk in that shooting.
05:48 We have played with our lives and shot it.
05:52 We have worked hard for 10 days in scorching heat.
05:55 We have taken very risky shots.
05:59 There were no special effects.
06:02 We have done whatever we could.
06:05 Risky shots.
06:08 You were hesitating.
06:10 I was hesitating a little bit.
06:12 But I had a very good co-star in Sunny Deol who was there to protect you.
06:16 And a very confident action director like Mr. T.Nu Varma.
06:21 They took away part of my worries.
06:23 A memorable incident while shooting for this film?
06:26 Every incident is so memorable that to name one would not be doing justice.
06:31 It's been a beautiful experience because this film is very close to my heart.
06:36 Even though it's a character that is 60 years before my time.
06:39 And it was very difficult to play that character.
06:43 So I had to learn something new every day.
06:46 And I think it was very challenging.
06:48 So every moment is special.
06:49 How was the reaction of the hosts of 'Kahona Pyar Hai' when you were shooting in the open?
06:58 Well, I got a very good reaction even before 'Kahona Pyar Hai'.
07:04 When the promo started, I got a positive feel.
07:07 People were looking forward to a new fresh screen.
07:13 And people liked the innocence that they saw in me and Hrithik.
07:18 And of course, after 'Kahona Pyar Hai', it was very difficult to leave the house.
07:22 And whenever we used to shoot outdoors, there was a lot of crowd.
07:27 It was a new experience for me.
07:30 Wherever I go, people recognize me.
07:33 And I used to feel weird that why are they accepting my autograph?
07:37 I mean, what did I do that I should give an autograph to someone?
07:42 Because I think that I have to go far ahead and do a lot of work.
07:47 And I don't want to disappoint my audience.
07:51 And I want to do 10 times better work than the audience I have received love from.
07:58 Any of the three roles you would like to play?
08:00 'Umrao Jaan', 'Majhuri' of 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai', 'Chandni', 'Dilwale'.
08:07 I even liked a film of Majhuri's called 'Mithyu Dand'.
08:11 But I love 'Umrao Jaan'.
08:14 Any film that has to do with a lot of sensitivity and dance, I would love to do.
08:19 Can I ask you a little rapid fire question?
08:22 In one word, basically.
08:24 If you had one, which one would you choose?
08:26 Worldwide peace.
08:29 The closest thing to your heart?
08:31 I'm not sure he looks close to me.
08:33 I'm questioning whether he looks close to me.
08:35 The closest thing to your heart?
08:36 I guess my skin, no?
08:38 But my mother.
08:40 Your memorable moments?
08:41 Too many to name.
08:43 Your favourite costumes?
08:45 Salwar Kameez.
08:47 One word to describe yourself?
08:49 Child woman.
08:51 Favourite movie?
08:52 'Kahona Pyaar Hai'.
08:54 Favourite lecture?
08:56 I have many.
08:57 One?
08:59 I can't name one.
09:00 Fan of?
09:01 Madhuri Dixit.
09:02 Favourite food?
09:04 Roadside food.
09:05 Drink?
09:06 Water.
09:07 You're scared of?
09:10 Waking up and not having my family around me.
09:13 What do you hate?
09:14 Hypocrisy.
09:16 What do you hate the most about the Indian films?
09:19 Hypocrisy.
09:21 Your favourite lines from a movie?
09:24 I have none.
09:26 If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
09:30 I change people's egos because I think that is the cause of all the problems we have.
09:39 What would you say about the award you received?
09:42 I was very happy because this award was unexpected.
09:48 I know that my audience and fans were happier than me.
09:55 When I was shooting after receiving the award, small kids would come to me and say,
10:01 "Ameesha, we were so happy you won the award. When you won it, we were crying."
10:05 I think this is my actual award.
10:08 An award is a trophy that we take home and keep it.
10:12 But the love of the fans and people is eternal.
10:16 So I think that is the most important award to me.
10:18 But I felt on top of the world.
10:21 Thank you.
10:22 Thank you.
10:23 Thank you.
10:25 Thank you.
10:26 (upbeat music)
