00:00 It's such a privilege to be here and thank you very much for South Tyneside for allowing us to do this.
00:04 Being in front of this amazing beautiful monument of one of the oldest lifeboats in the UK is such a pleasure.
00:11 We obviously are based north of the Tyne at Tyne Mouth but looking back it's amazing to be here in front of this old boat
00:18 and show the differences that have happened since then.
00:21 It's honestly such a privilege to be representing our crew on the scroll today
00:26 and for generations to come to look back and see mine, Caroline and David's name written on this scroll
00:34 is a true pleasure and feel very humbled by it.
00:37 I just think it's amazing and I think it's a great thing that they're doing.
00:41 200 years of service and being a maritime town it's been so important to us and in front of the Tyne.
00:50 It was one of the first self-righting lifeboats built so proudly in South Shields, South Tyneside.
00:57 It was our discovery as it were and because people on both sides of the Tyne watched people drowning on the Black Mibbles
01:07 and felt they had to do something about it and now we have these wonderful grown men and women, ladies.
01:14 And also I know that they work alongside South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade who are also very, very proud of.
01:22 So a really, really important day today, 200 years of service.
01:26 I've been with Tyne Mouth RNLI for three years and was looking for something to do, volunteer that was
01:35 you know, going to support the community and being based at the coast, love the sea
01:40 but I knew I wasn't going to be able to go out on the boat.
01:42 What people forget is that the RNLI are a crew made up of many different people, not everybody goes out on the boat.
01:48 So we've got volunteers who are shore crew, we've got volunteers who are fundraisers, people who help out at our events
01:56 and yeah, lots of interest from different people who can support us.
02:01 Absolutely love it, it's been an honour to come here today and sign the scroll on behalf of the RNLI.
02:06 I saw it leave Westminster, I was at that service again, a real privilege to be representative of Tyne Mouth RNLI.
