00:00This plane might not look that futuristic but it actually is. That's
00:07because this aerial vehicle developed at Cranfield University in the UK is
00:11all-electric and it's not only England's first ever all-electric flight but also
00:15a landmark moment for aviation. That's because this was once a conventional
00:20airplane modified with an electric engine. The plane was piloted by an
00:23associate professor of aviation at the University, Dr. Guy Gratton. He said it
00:27was one of the most exciting things he's ever done but as that this is only
00:30the beginning for all-electric aircraft. Saying about the inaugural takeoff quote
00:34the airplane flew very much as predicted from our analysis and ground tests. This
00:38is a new way of flying and we're at the start of a steep learning curve on
00:42electric flight. During the flight he flew to heights of 2,000 feet traveling
00:46at speeds of 80 miles per hour. They're calling the aircraft the E-Cub and its
00:50developers say it's part of the cutting edge of electric aeronautics. During its
00:54first test the aircraft flew for 10 minutes followed by a second 22-minute
00:58flight.
