Transcript
00:00 Hello guys, it's Adam Monk here from 442 and here is a quick little roundup video for
00:08 everything you need to know ahead of Euro 2024.
00:11 UEFA have confirmed that squad sizes will increase from 23 players to 26 for Euro 2024.
00:18 Nations have successfully argued that the demanding schedule at club level has created
00:22 more risk of injury, therefore they've increased the squad size for each team.
00:26 The competition will start on June 14th with the group stage and the group stage will end
00:30 on June 26th.
00:32 Then the last 16 will go from June 29th to July 2nd.
00:37 The quarterfinals will then be played on July 5th and July 6th.
00:40 Then the semi-finals on July 9th and July 10th.
00:44 And then finally the final will be on July 14th.
00:47 The groups will be as follows.
00:49 In Group A, Germany, Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland.
00:53 In Group B, you've got Spain, Croatia, Italy and Albania.
00:57 That's a bit of a group of death.
00:58 In Group C, you've got Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia and England.
01:02 In Group D, you've got Poland, The Netherlands, Austria and France.
01:07 In Group E, you've got Belgium, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine.
01:11 And then finally in Group F, you have Turkey, Georgia, Portugal and Czech Republic.
01:17 There will be 10 stadiums at use in the tournament in 10 different German cities and those German
01:22 cities are Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Dortmund, Gilsakerken, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt,
01:30 Stuttgart and finally Munich.
01:33 The final will be played in Berlin's Olympiastadion which was built for the 1936 Olympics of course
01:38 and that stadium has previously hosted games at the 1974 and 2006 World Cups as well, including
01:44 the 2006 World Cup Final.
01:47 The official match ball for Euro 2024 is manufactured by Adidas and is called the Fussballiber,
01:53 if I've pronounced that right, which means the love of football in German.
01:57 The ball features a striking design which Adidas have claimed "represents the movement
02:01 of the ball and the energy of the game through prominent black wing shapes accentuated with
02:06 colourful edges, curves and dots".
02:09 The ball will also include a sensor which will help VAR with semi-automated offside
02:14 decisions while also providing 500 pieces of data a second to detect when the ball is,
02:20 or crucially isn't, touched.
02:22 And following a vote conducted among Uefa.com users and school children across Europe, the
02:27 mascot for the competition will be Albar the bear.
02:30 Isn't he cute?
