President Biden delivered remarks on Tuesday at a gun safety event where he called out Republicans over their efforts to abolish the ATF.

00:00And by the way, this is most important.
00:03The only industry in America that has immunity are gun deals.
00:08We got to end it.
00:09End it now.
00:10You know I mean it.
00:11Imagine.
00:12Imagine if we gave tobacco an exception, they could not be prosecuted.
00:29And what would happen?
00:30We'd still have a thousand more people be dying of cancer because of the smoke inhalation.
00:34It's time to increase funding for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives
00:39and other law enforcement agencies as well to solve the crimes faster.
00:46Look, unfortunately, it's the only partisan thing I'm going to say.
00:52The Congressional Republicans oppose all of these.
00:54Every one of these.
00:55Instead of trying to stop our ban on ghost gun kits that contain these commit crimes,
01:02they're working like hell to stop it.
01:04They want to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives, which
01:09is responsible for fighting gun crimes.
01:12You can't be pro-law enforcement and say you are pro-law enforcement and be pro-abolishing
01:17the AFT.
01:18You can't do it.
01:19It's outrageous.
01:20It's outrageous.
01:21I disagree with some of my own party and on the other side about a lot of things, but
01:29at least there's some rational argument they have as part of their argument.
01:34What in God's name is the rationale for taking away the alcohol, tobacco, and firearms?
01:40After a school shooting in Iowa that killed a student and a teacher, my predecessor was
01:44asked about it.
01:46You remember what he said.
01:47He said, you have to get over it.
01:50Hell no, we don't have to get over it.
01:52We've got to stop it.
01:54We've got to stop it and stop it now.
02:05More children are killed in America by guns than cancer and car accidents combined.
02:11My predecessor told the NRA convention recently, he's proud that, quote, I did nothing on guns
02:18when I was president.
02:19And by doing nothing, he made the situation considerably worse.
02:23That's why every town, why this summit, why all of you here today are so damn important.
02:28We need you.
02:29We need you to overcome the unrelenting opposition of the gun lobby, gun manufacturers, so many
02:34politicians when they oppose common sense gun legislation.
