A mum says her family has been banned from having fun - after she was told she would no longer be allowed a 12ft paddling pool in a communal yard area.
Chelsea Davidson, 38, has been left frustrated after also being told she'd have to cancel her wedding reception, which was planned to be held in the communal area in Walderslade, Kent.
Despite having already forked out £200 for a buffet for the event, Chelsea was recently told by her housing association she'd have to find a new venue.
The mum-of-two was suddenly told by mhs homes that her paddling pool - which she's put up every summer for the past decade without problems - will now have to go.
Chelsea, who has lived at the flats since 2009, was told her pool breached her tenancy agreement.
She says the pool has made an appearance between March and September every year for around a decade.
She said: “We haven't got anything around this area for the kids. The only thing we ever get is during the holidays and you might have the occasional club at the school but nowhere for teenagers to socialise.
“The kids love playing together. If they're not outside playing in the pool or kicking a football, they're trashing my kitchen, baking cakes and rolls.
"It's what we do - we love the fun. We've had barbecues, we've had birthday parties, we've even had little wedding parties down in the yard over the years.
“But now we're not allowed barbecues, we're not allowed to have fun and it's not allowed to be a communal yard.”
During a recent phone call, Ms Davidson was also told she wouldn't be able to host her wedding reception in the yard when she marries her partner of 19 years, Bob Gartward, in August - despite already having forked out to Gillingham Street Angels for a buffet.
“The plans have gone out the window thanks to mhs,” Chelsea said. “It's taken us this long to plan because of a lack of money.
“Everyone up here is invited, we're like a family, so I don’t see what the problem is.”
Bride to be Ms Davidson received a letter from mhs homes confirming the matters discussed on the phone earlier this month, which stated the family-sized pool is 'prohibited in communal areas' and 'goes against' its tenancy management policy.
It said an investigation would be launched which could put her tenancy at risk if she didn't remove the pool and any other children's toys or personal items from the communal yard.
Chelsea has removed the pool but has now started a petition, signed by 18 fellow residents of the balcony area where she lives, and plans to put it back up in the coming days.
A spokesman for mhs homes insisted the health and safety of its customers is its 'top priority'.
He added: “Communal spaces are a great way of bringing residents together and building a sense of community, but we also have a responsibility to keep people safe in these areas.
“We understand one of our customers wanted to celebrate their wedding reception in the communal space.
“However, as part of their tenancy agreement, we ask people not to use these spaces for barbeques, which can potentially lead to a fire hazard, or for large family-sized pools or trampolines, which also carry a health and safety risk.
"This is an important part of keeping people safe.”

00:00 I'm Chelsea Davison, I am almost 39 years old and we're currently in the communal yard in
00:07 Silverwick Road between 38 and 56. We've had our swimming pool up in the communal yard for at least
00:13 10 years now, every year between March and September. Previous residents even to this day
00:19 will probably agree with you, it's always been a social little yard. We've had barbecues, we've had
00:25 birthday parties, we've even had little wedding parties down in the yard and now MHS are telling
00:32 us they've given me seven days from last Thursday the 30th to remove my swimming pool, to remove all
00:39 my toys that are in the yard at the moment, to remove our tables and chairs. We're not allowed
00:43 barbecues, we're not allowed to have fun, it's not allowed to be a communal yard. The reason we took
00:49 it down at the moment is where we've been given until Thursday, I am still waiting for paperwork
00:55 from MHS because I've still not received this to tell me the reasons behind not having my swimming
01:00 pool. I will be saying now that as of once they come out Thursday I will be re-erecting my swimming
01:09 pool because my children want to have fun, the children on the balcony need the fun. We haven't
01:15 got nothing around this area for the kids, the only thing we ever get is come the holidays and
01:20 you might have the occasional Easter club or the occasional club at the school but nothing that's
01:25 socialises the teenagers or the youngsters that need to have fun and this is what we do here.
01:30 My wedding plans have gone out the window thanks to MHS. I'm due to get married on the 8th of
01:37 August this year, been together with my partner 19 years now, it's taken us this long with lack
01:42 of money and everything but in all logic 19 years together is good but MHS is now saying I cannot
01:50 have my wedding reception in my communal yard because it doesn't justify the rights of the
01:56 communal yard. I'm not allowed friends, I'm not allowed family, I can't have a barbecue.
02:01 All the wedding is paid for, even my buffet food from Street Angels is paid for.
02:06 They're willing to come and help me with my buffet so I don't understand why MHS is stopping us
02:14 from enjoying this. This is our yard and we use it how we do. We enjoy our life, let us enjoy it.
02:22 Everyone up here is invited, we're basically like a family up here. Every previous neighbour to the
02:27 neighbours we've got now, everyone is basically family. The kids love playing together, they're
02:34 always together. If they're not outside playing in the pool or kicking a football, they're trashing
02:39 my kitchen baking cakes and rolls. It's what we do, we love the fun. Even if it makes a mess,
02:48 we clear our mess. We've never left MHS a mess to deal with, we've always dealt with it.
02:53 We fought to keep our dogs and even the dogs don't make a mess. I have my petition signed by
03:00 my local residents on the balcony, some of my local shops and my residents of the elderly which also
03:07 enjoy the fun of the kids. The only thing I'd like to add to, in my opinion, MHS need to come
03:22 out and talk to us ourselves instead of blaming the situation. They need to see what we have done
03:28 over the years in this communal yard. They need to see how much fun us residents have had in this yard
03:34 and to stop us now isn't fair. I've received no paperwork, all I've received is one email
03:41 stating I tried to contact you regarding the issue of the swimming pool, I was unable to contact you
03:49 via the number on system, can you please send me your number. I sent an email back with my mobile
03:56 number, exactly the same number that is on the system and within an hour after that I was contacted
04:02 and that was when I was told we're not allowed nothing in the yards, no swimming pool, no toys,
04:06 no tables, no barbecues and I'm not even allowed my wedding venue down here.
04:20 (Laughter)
