00:00Two years ago, my wife and I decided to start an open water swimming venue.
00:05The benefit is that you can get experience open water swimming in a safe environment,
00:11in clean water, where you know you're going to be safe and have a good time.
00:15It's a really rewarding and natural experience to come and get in the lake,
00:20along with some really good mental health benefits from the cold water,
00:24getting your blood flow working and getting your brain activated.
00:27Once you've been in in the morning, you are energized and powerful for the rest of the day.
00:33We have a fully qualified open water lifeguard on site at all times,
00:38and also a spotter on the other side of the lake, so you are always under the watchful eye of people
00:45who can come and help you if you ever get into trouble.
00:47One of the really nice things about this lake is the location that it's in.
00:52We are right at the head of the river Neen, so we have the springs on the farm 300 meters up
00:57from the lake, so the water quality is always as good as it can get.
01:02Currently it's been going really well, we've got an open day going on today,
01:06try and get as many people here just to experience it and see what we've got.
01:10Hot pod yoga from Daventry are also here, which is one of the most intense yoga sessions you can do.
01:18I'm going to join in and start doing a few sessions myself as well.
01:21A year ago Hugh approached me to ask me if I was interested in getting involved in
01:26open water swimming at this venue, and I was blown away, it's just so peaceful.
01:31Our main aim is to make people aware of this venue,
01:34because there aren't very many open water venues in this area,
01:37and it's quite nice that we've had such a good turnout,
01:40and so many people have come to join us at the lake today.
01:43Me and Harry really enjoyed some sunshine, looking at the beautiful views,
01:47it's been a fantastic day.
01:48It's a really good place to just put yourself back together, because life is hectic,
01:53and this is one place where it doesn't have to be hectic at all.
01:56Nice and relaxed is what we're looking for here.
01:59Really important to me that we teach children about swimming in open water venues.
02:04Swimming pool swimming and open water swimming are two vastly different beasts.
02:09Really exciting to get the children into the water,
02:11so that I know that we're going to have more children who are safe in an open water environment.
02:16It's a lovely place to come swimming.
