00:00We kick off your Leeds Euro 2024 guide with the dedicated Fan Zone, which is warming up
00:06for the tournament, potentially as the weather warms up too. Gareth Southgate's team will
00:11be shown live on the square's giant HD LED screen. Advance booking is required and gates
00:17open around 90 minutes before each England match. There are of course a number of venues
00:22right across the city which will be screening each game.
00:26On the food front, it's cumin home as football fever hots up at Bundabost on Mill Hill in
00:32Leeds city centre. They've developed a limited edition menu taking inspiration from iconic
00:38football ground food, including a vindaloo pie.
00:44Sticking with the food theme, James Connolly from the Yorkshire Evening Post recently visited
00:48two outlets which celebrate the traditional dish of England and the national drink of
00:53Spain.
00:54I'm here with Wad from North Leeds Fish Bar. Wad, could you tell me a little bit about
00:59the customers that you have here and what their reactions are? Are they always looking
01:02forward to a chippy tea?
01:04Yes, yes, they do. They normally finish work and they come in on Fridays and they look
01:11forward for the fish and chips meals that normally happen on a Friday. We get really
01:15busy on a Friday and people looking forward, you know, for the fish and chips, you know,
01:21on Fridays.
01:22Fantastic. And it's such an English staple. With the Euros coming up, we were looking
01:27at some of the foods that represent each country. Are you going to be watching the football
01:30this year?
01:31I would definitely, if I have a time, if I have a time, I would definitely watch it.
01:35Yeah, yeah. I really enjoy watching the football and I like football.
01:38Yes. And will you be rooting for England or is there a team that you'll be particularly
01:43looking forward to watching this year?
01:45Of course it's for England. I wouldn't, I wouldn't support any teams because I really
01:50like to watch a football who is, you know, supporting England. Yeah, definitely.
01:56We've just seen you making some of your famous sangria. Could you tell us a bit about the
02:01process? How do you make sangria?
02:03Well, it's quite simple to make. You just need to be generous with the fruit and we
02:10put vermouth in there. You can also put brandy in, but we make it with a nice Spanish vermouth,
02:17some sugar, some nice red wine and just a bit of lemonade to top it off. It's just like
02:22a perfect drink to have, especially in the summer with, with our food here at Bomba.
02:26Who will you be supporting in the Euros?
02:28Yeah, I suppose it's a tricky one. I support England. If they get knocked out, I'm definitely
02:34going to support Spain. The staff here love football and we've got the pub just next to
02:39us where people are watching football. So there is a good atmosphere. You can feel it
02:44building up.
02:45It's been great to come down to Bomba to try this classic drink from Spain. And I'd say
02:49if their sangria is as good as their football, I don't think they've got anything to worry
02:54about this year.
02:55Cheers.
