00:00They may be near the end of the alphabet, but they'll be the first in battle.
00:04Here's a look at the Jazwares Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron Series 3 V-Wing Starfighter.
00:23The Starfighter Class Series 3 box set is the best way to complete your Star Wars Micro
00:27Galaxy Squadron collection.
00:29If you were unable to grab every vehicle and micro-figure accessory when they launched
00:32in stores, then this set was made perfectly for you.
00:35I don't know, maybe the V stands for victory.
00:38What I do know, though, is just before we look at the Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron
00:41Series 3 V-Wing Starfighter, boy, that's a lot to get out, I'd like to get out a
00:45thank you to the folks over at Jazwares that were kind enough to provide the sample we
00:49could have a look at.
00:50Sure, if you're interested, you could get the V-Wing all on its own, but if you're
00:53having a hard time to find any of these out in the wild, you could also as well go over
00:57to Jazwares Vault as it's an exclusive there.
01:00Maybe not necessarily the fact that the V-Wing is an exclusive, but there is also a Starfighter
01:04Class Series 3 box set that happens to contain the V-Wing Starfighter.
01:08It just happens to also be the same reason why we've looked at the other three previous
01:12looked at Squadron Starfighters.
01:13It's $100, but it's limited to only 1,500 copies, so you may want to jump on getting
01:18the set for yourself pretty fast.
01:20From the end of its wings to the front of its snout, do you want to call it a snout?
01:24The V-Wing Starfighter is actually exactly six inches in length, or it's going to be
01:3016 centimeters long.
01:32Now four Starfighters in from the five Starfighter sets.
01:36Let's just move in the center here, the V-Wing that we're about to have a look at, bringing
01:39in an equally sized Jedi Starfighter, just happens to belong to Anakin Skywalker.
01:44Let's also as well bring in the T-70 X-Wing that belongs to Poe Dameron.
01:48And off to the side, hopefully I can squeeze everybody all in.
01:51Here's also what it looks like as well with General Grievous' Starfighter, the soulless
01:55one.
01:56I apologize for my unnerving whispering.
01:58Let's look at the included micro figures.
02:00We get ourself a clone pilot.
02:01We also get as well R4-P17, which seems to be just a repaint of the earlier looked at
02:06R2-D2.
02:07Retrieving, though, the figures only involves flipping back the cardboard card, and always
02:12pull it this way.
02:13Don't pull it the opposite way, because you'll just end up finding your figures on the floor.
02:16Let's move that off to the side, and then of course retrieving the figures inside.
02:20What we'll do first, though, is we'll look at the figure of the droid.
02:23Let's just bring back in here, and let's flip it around, because I think in fact it is the
02:27exact same one.
02:28Let's just grab over R2 here.
02:30Yeah, it looks to be the identical mold as R2 we've looked at from before.
02:35So in the case here of R4-P17, short of maybe just changing the silver that was before for
02:40R2-D2 now to kind of a rusted brown, it looks to be the exact same design of droid.
02:46It also as well attaches inside, although in this case, though, with the Starfighter,
02:51you kind of have to pull away the covers, pull away the curtains, in order to gain access
02:54to where the droid's going to actually be.
02:56We're just going to put the droid right there for a second.
02:58Also to come in clear, we get yourself a clone pilot.
03:00The pilot looks pretty good, actually.
03:02Again, poseability, nothing in the head, only in the arms, but when you move one arm, his
03:07little baby brother has to come along with that as well.
03:09I guess they wouldn't be a baby brother, because they're the exact same length of arms, but
03:12they move exactly at the same time.
03:14There's also, as well, leg articulation, so you can bring those legs down.
03:17You will definitely need to do that in order to fit this inside the cockpit.
03:20Forcing it down this way would only then just fracture his back and shatter his legs.
03:26But again, nicely detailed.
03:28Let's grab Poe Dameron here.
03:30You can see the difference between the two.
03:32Obviously, Poe Dameron stands more out, just because he's got the additional orange added
03:37in there.
03:38The clone pilot, though, does look good.
03:39I like the little mask that they've given him as well.
03:42Now again, if you wanted to put these inside, the pilot is actually the easiest.
03:46You just lift the lid up, although before doing that, you really want to kind of move
03:49stuff out of the way.
03:50So I did say you kind of had to move the curtains out of the way.
03:53The thing that you do have to move is the top wings here.
03:56These wings currently cover over the area where the droid's actually going to be situated,
03:59so you want to just take these and fold them down.
04:03In its state of landing, these would basically be folded inward, but if it's ready for flight,
04:07you want to bring those out.
04:08Again, they're just on hinges.
04:09Then you can take yourself the tiny little droid, and that pops just inside.
04:13I didn't do this really much when we looked at the other ones, but once you pop this in,
04:18basically what it does is it depresses this.
04:21Not depresses it, it talks badly to it, but it pops this bottom section out.
04:25When you press this button, it's supposed to deploy the droid.
04:29It only really just lifts the droid, so it's a little bit easier.
04:31So let me just, again, looking at the bottom of it, see if I pop that all the way in, you
04:36can see this kind of, again, just pops itself.
04:38So again, you're just going to push this to pop the droid out.
04:41Everybody get that by now?
04:42Okay, good.
04:43I'm just going to keep the droid in there for at least right now.
04:45Then we're also going to lift the canopy up, and just to show you guys what that looks
04:48like on the inside.
04:50It's molded nicely.
04:51It doesn't have any paint applications, but again, for something small like this, do we
04:54have expectations high that it should have paint applications or sticker applications?
04:59I don't think so.
05:00Let's take ourselves a little clone pilot.
05:02We're going to fold in in the legs, and then we're just tucking conveniently in there,
05:06and we'll just close up the canopy.
05:08Whoa, speaking of deploying droids, I'm going to have to go retrieve that a little bit later.
05:13It's funny though, I just jokingly said that, and then sure enough, as I pushed it, the
05:15droid did, in fact, go across the room.
05:18Actually, he's not even across the room, I'm looking at him right now, he's just down by
05:22my legs.
05:23Though, getting a closer look though at the V-Wing, the V-Wing is a really neat designed
05:27starfighter.
05:28It does have a landing gear, which I've already retracted out.
05:31This folds in, and it's one of the easiest landing gears to retrieve.
05:34The lip is just well enough that you can get your finger in there and just lift this
05:37out.
05:38You don't even need a screwdriver.
05:39I'm looking at you, General Grievous' starfighter.
05:42Does have some little cannons there on the side there as well.
05:44It sort of does look like a modified A-Wing, which is one of my favorite starfighters.
05:47I like the look of the A-Wing.
05:48I got the chance to see the A-Wing at Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios, not Disney World
05:54or Magic Kingdom, but definitely one of my highlights was getting a chance to see these
05:58things in the wild.
05:59Now, again, the one thing that's a little bit different though is, well, maybe the front
06:03of it looks like a traditional A-Wing.
06:05The back is really the part that sells this the most.
06:08It does have these extra wings.
06:09Now, the wings in its defaulted state when it lands like this has the wings sort of folded
06:13back like this.
06:14What you need to do is that you need to bring them forward, but you bring them forward in
06:18a weird, awkward way.
06:19It's not just a case of swinging them around.
06:21You have to kind of move them in a certain coordination.
06:24So you move this bottom one here out first.
06:26That comes around to the front like this, and then you bring this one around.
06:29I would have really thought it would have been the opposite way, but again, you just
06:33take this, fold this all the way around, and then basically you just fold.
06:37Do I have this going the right way?
06:38I don't think I have this going the right way.
06:40Fold this.
06:41Yes, I do.
06:42Yes, I do.
06:43Fold this down.
06:44Fold this up.
06:45There we go.
06:46Again, you kind of have to just remember when you're doing this.
06:48You know, looking at it though, the thing I really like about it is the configuration
06:51of the wings.
06:52The thing I don't like about it sort of goes back to my original idea when we look at the
06:55Hyper Drive transport ring that went on top of Anakin's Starfighters.
07:01When you're looking at this in its defaulted state without having the ring included, it
07:05easily just stands on its own on the shelf.
07:07The moment you start to add things that then increase its likelihood of falling forward,
07:11I feel like it looks good like this, but it really needed then something to attach onto
07:15the bottom of it.
07:16It so happens though that there just happens to be a screw hole right there that kind of
07:20keeps really the top and the bottom shell of the whole ship together.
07:24This could have been an ideal place if they had just included just a display stand about
07:27yay big, just a clear plastic square base or rectangular base, and just had a post,
07:32just had a post that attached right there.
07:34It would have been more than enough just to accommodate now the ship being able to balance.
07:38Even though it does have flat wings on the bottom, there's no way at all you can get
07:41this to balance properly.
07:43So it just really needed a display stand.
07:45I'm going to see if I can maybe pillage display stands I'm not currently using, because truth
07:49be told, I really liked Anakin's Starfighter design with actually the Hyper Drive on the
07:54transport ring on the front.
07:56If the wings to fold out like this on the V-Wing gives it sort of its kind of unique
08:01charm to it, I really would like to be able to display this on the shelf, but not by having
08:05proper means.
08:06I'm going to have to use a display stand from another figure company.
08:09Of course, the last thing you want to do is fold in the landing gears and now it's ready
08:13for flight.
08:14The colors on this is not quite white.
08:16It's more of like a beige white and it's got some really nice red accents added in there
08:20as well.
08:21Of course, you've got there on the Rebellion symbol on the side.
08:24We also have that on the back there as well.
08:26The thing that's obviously missing is the fact that my little tiny droid companion.
08:30Where is he right now?
08:31R4P-17?
08:32R4P-17?
08:33Are you?
08:34Okay, I see him.
08:35I'm going to have to go again a little bit later.
08:36So obviously he's going to sit in the back there also as well.
08:40One of the things, again, I really like about the micro galaxy squadron is that the line
08:43has micro figures.
08:45So even if they had just released the actual vehicles on their own, that would just been
08:49enough for me.
08:50You could have just all your favorite vehicles out on display.
08:52I mean, it's funny enough that we're actually looking at all the ones from like the original
08:55trilogy and a later trilogy.
08:57We have yet to actually look at anything from like episode four, five, and six.
09:01But again, you've got some nice detailing there on the side.
09:02You've got the gray added in there as well.
09:04Now, again, when you're folding these, the wings are very cumbersome.
09:08I mean, again, like when you're moving things around, you kind of have to bring these around
09:11and even when you bring them around, you can kind of see like these side pieces sort of
09:15start to lip up.
09:17Just bring this around to the back and then you kind of have to get this around a lip
09:20area.
09:21So you can see it right there.
09:22There's a bit of plastic where that when you move it around, you have to kind of lift over
09:26that to bring the wing to the back and then that just folds in like that.
09:30So that's what it looks like when it's landing.
09:32Just move this up a little bit.
09:33That's what it looks like when it's landing.
09:34And then that's what it looks like when it's out in space and battle.
09:37Really like the idea that you can move this stuff around, but you know, again, like the
09:40wings are just a little bit more cumbersome.
09:42Again, we're just going to just fold these around again, like this one has that kind
09:46of move up around and then this is the one that kind of meets around the other side.
09:50And then when you move it around, it has to get around that little lip of plastic.
09:54There we go.
09:55There we go.
09:56Again, it is my favorite vehicle we've looked at so far.
09:59You don't think honestly that's going to change either, even though we are still going to
10:02be looking at Poe Dameron's alternate ride of the X-Wing.
10:05I don't think because the mold, I already know what I'm recognizing it, what it's going
10:08to look like.
10:09It's just going to be a different color scheme.
10:10I think honestly, honestly, like the Y-Wing might be my favorite or the V-Wing might be
10:14my favorite.
10:15The only thing again about it though, is similar though, to when we looked at Anakin's Starfighter,
10:21in order to have again, all the additional baggage of having the ringlets added into
10:24the ship as well, which again, like this just slid in, I don't know, obviously you guys
10:28have probably already seen the review of this, but this in a similar way, it took up a lot
10:31of, no, let's just fold and land again.
10:33This slid in place.
10:36And then once you actually have that all set up, if I can get it all in there, even though
10:40we've already done this all in the review, once that's locked in place, essentially,
10:43now you've got something similar to the V-Wing where it has to hold itself up.
10:47I think in cases like this though, I mean, Jasper's really made, should have made the
10:50exception.
10:51Not all the ships really deserve to have display stands.
10:54Like Grievous' starship doesn't need it, nor does really the X-Wing.
10:57But when you get examples like this, the ones that stand out from the crowd because they
11:00do something a little bit different, I think obviously an accommodating display stand was
11:04a must need included accessory.
11:07So I did take my own advice and I brought back the display stand to help wrap up the
11:10review for the Anakin Skywalker's Starfighter.
11:13Because remember with Skywalker's, he had the hyperspace transport ring that attached
11:16onto the front of his vehicle.
11:18Like with the configurable wings here for the V-Wing, honestly, it's the best way of
11:22displaying both vehicles.
11:23But ironically enough, neither one of them can be displayed like that without the helping
11:27hand of a display stand.
11:29Some collectors though, choose to have their flying vehicles suspended by a ceiling with
11:31fishing line.
11:32And hey, it's not a look I like myself, but if that's something you'd like to do with
11:35your collection, all the power to you.
11:37I'd rather just have these honestly on the shelf, but I feel like I would unfortunately
11:40have to be relegated to the inferior way of displaying these vehicles.
11:44Starfighter just in his landing position and with the wings folded forward on the V-Wing.
11:49Now if Jazwares entertained the idea of including display stands along with that, they probably
11:54would have thought the idea of tacking on what another $2 or $3 over the asking price
11:58of what they're selling the micro galaxy squadron for.
12:00I can't speak for everybody, but I don't mind.
12:02I would have spent the extra $2 more if it meant that I could display the V-Wing looking
12:06like this than having the wings and the landing gears folded out.
12:10What do you guys think of this?
12:11Let me know down below in the comment section.
12:12Now short of again, the Poe Dameron T-70 X-Wing, the variation that's going to be limited
12:16to 5,000 copies.
12:17What has been your favorite vehicle we've looked at so far from series three?
12:21Speaking of Poe Dameron, he is actually also part of the T-70 X-Wing.
12:24He's also part of the Starfighter class series three box set that's currently on sale over
12:29on Jazwares vault site.
12:31It's an exclusive.
12:33It isn't so much an exclusive for what the vehicles are inside, but it's an exclusive
12:36in the sense that they actually come packed in a pretty decorative looking box.
12:40I never really got the chance to show you guys what the box looks like for that, but
12:42they're all packed inside of there.
12:44They're all sealed and they're limited to two per customer.
12:46So if you did want to get two, you could keep them all still sealed inside of their clam
12:50shells and then have the other set of them displayed loose, which ideally would be the
12:53better way I feel of displaying these vehicles for yourself.
12:56But again, they're limited to two per person.
12:57They're a hundred dollars.
12:59And as of right now, at the time of shooting this video, they're still in stock.
13:01Whether the stock is still going to stick around, I can't make that promise, but definitely
13:05if you are interested to get your hands on series three, you may want to jump over to
13:09the link right away.
13:10Big thank you once again to the folks over at Jazwares that did come through and again,
13:13provide another sample.
13:14Now, this was again, all part of the starfighter class series three.
13:17I just sort of just decided to break these all down individually.
13:20This review, we're looking at the micro galaxy squadron series three V wing starfighter so
13:24far and probably will be my favorite from series three.
13:28If you guys did enjoy this video, I want to throw it a like.
13:30If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing, I want to stick around for more.
13:32By the way, FYI, I did also retrieve R4 P17.
13:36If anybody was worried about the whereabouts of that droid, don't worry.
13:39I mean, guys, obviously he didn't have any moving legs.
13:40How far would that droid really be able to travel?
13:43He's back where he belongs, just behind the back of the pilot sitting inside of his cockpit.
13:47Anyways, though, if you guys did want to stick around for more, because we are again, still
13:51be going to be looking at the chase 5,000 copy release of Poe Dameron's T-70 X-wing.
13:56That's going to be coming up in the pipeline.
13:58Making sure you hit that subscribe button down below is the crucial thing.
14:01Turning on the bell notification is an equally crucial thing, but the most important thing
14:04is that you're coming back here regularly.
14:06As always guys, thanks for watching.
14:08See you guys next time.
