00:00Russell Crowe is defending superhero movies in the wake of Dakota Johnson's Madam Web comments.
00:06Crowe, who next stars in Crave and the Hunter, gave a candid interview to GQ where at one point
00:11he was asked about Johnson saying that the recent box office disappointment, Madam Web,
00:15felt like it was made by a committee and pushed back on the notion that actors should have high
00:19personal artistic expectations for making films in the genre. You're telling me you
00:24signed up for a Marvel movie and some f***ing universe for cartoon characters and you didn't
00:28get enough pathos? Not quite sure how I can make this better for you. It's a gigantic machine,
00:33and they make movies at a certain size. And you know, I've experienced that on the DC side with
00:37Man of Steel's Zack Snyder, and I've experienced it on the Marvel side via Disney with Thor,
00:42Love and Thunder. These are jobs. You know, here's your role, play the role. If you're
00:46expecting this to be some kind of life-changing event, I just think you're here for the wrong
00:50reasons." Elsewhere in the interview, he also seemed to address past reports of bad behavior
00:54amid giving acclaimed performances in films such as Gladiator. The Oscar-winning actor has a long
00:59history of allegations of unfriendly behavior and angry outbursts. I'm in awe of people these days
01:05who say, I have no regrets. Really? I've got a ton of regrets, an angry word, an overreaction,
01:10a missed opportunity for friendship, lots of things like that. But all of those things are
01:14in perspective because I've done lots of really cool too. My regrets are in a way badges of honor.
