00:00Hey guys, welcome back to DriveSpark, I'm Vedant Johari and what I have right beside
00:10me is the all-new Tata Altroz Racer, launched as competition for a few other sporty hatchbacks
00:16in the segment.
00:17So, let's see what all this car has to offer us at a starting price of Rs. 9.49 lakhs
00:22ex-showroom, right from the exterior look to the interior design, features and even
00:27the powertrain.
00:28So stay tuned for the whole video to know whether this car is for you.
00:42Now starting off with the exterior look, as you see, it looks more or less as a standard
00:47Altroz but it performs like a sports car.
00:50Now we get this beautiful orange and black paint scheme throughout the vehicle and at
00:55the front and at the roof of the car, we get racing stripes, yes, white coloured racing
00:59stripes because this is the Tata Altroz Racer.
01:03Now apart from that, as I said, looks more or less remain the same, it's really what
01:08inside that matters and it's really what inside that makes the Racer stand out.
01:12So apart from that, in the exterior we get a camera for a 360 degree view and we get
01:17the Racer badging located around the car.
01:20So the tyres that we get on the Altroz Racer are MRF EcoTreads and they come in a size
01:25of 185-60 R16.
01:28So now coming to the variants of the Tata Altroz Racer, well it's available in three
01:32variants, R1, which is the base variant, R2 and R3.
01:36R3 is the top variant of the Altroz Racer.
01:39Now in terms of colours on the Altroz Racer, we get three colours.
01:42One is this orange and black that's right beside me.
01:45We also get a grey and a white, both of them are in a dual tone finish.
01:49So let us know which your favourite option is down in the comments section below.
02:00So now gearing into the Altroz Racer, the whole sporty element follows us inside.
02:05Right from the orange accent on the vents to the whole blacked out dashboard that we
02:09get, even this light orange ambient lighting that we get around the centre console, it's
02:15just beautiful.
02:17Now, apart from that, the racing stripes that we had outside also follow us inside on our
02:21seats and on our floor mats.
02:23It's not found in the white finish this time, except for it's found in an orange and white
02:27finish.
02:28Apart from that, we get ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 7-inch
02:33instrument cluster.
02:34Now the infotainment system and the instrument cluster are fully digital.
02:38Now the infotainment system that we get has wireless connectivity, right from Android
02:42Auto to Apple CarPlay, even regular Bluetooth connectivity, it offers us.
02:47So now something else really cool on the Altroz Racer is it gets a voice activated sunroof
02:51and it's not just something simple like open the sunroof or close the sunroof.
02:55You can say something fun like khul ja sim sim or I want to see the sky or stuff like
03:00that.
03:01So let me show you.
03:02All you got to do is click the voice command button on our steering wheel, show me the
03:06sky.
03:07Sure, opening sunroof.
03:10And that's about it.
03:11So now the sunroof is open.
03:12I can see the sky.
03:13And now if I want to close the sunroof.
03:15Close sunroof.
03:16Sure.
03:17And that's about it.
03:19That's how simple it is.
03:20That's how you work the voice activated sunroof.
03:23We also get manual toggles on the ceiling to control it.
03:25However, the main shade of the sunroof has to be closed manually.
03:30That will not close automatic.
03:31Now we also get eight speakers on this, four in the front, four at the rear and it has
03:36a very, very crisp sound system.
03:38Now on our infotainment system, we have, as I said, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which
03:43gives us the benefit of Google Maps.
03:45And not only that, whatever location we put on our infotainment system, if we look at
03:50our instrument cluster, we get turn by turn navigation for that.
03:53So now I've put the location back to the hotel and right now looking at my instrument cluster,
03:58I can see which route I have to take.
04:08So now coming to the performance on the Tata Altroz Racer, well, this has a 1.2 litre turbocharged
04:26engine that puts out 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque.
04:30Now we got to try out this car with a different set of tyres on the Coast High Performance
04:35track and man, I must say it was a thrill to drive.
04:39It was fast, it was peppy and the stability of this car was top notch.
04:45Now in terms of suspension, the suspension has been a little stiffened from the previous
04:49Altroz, it's been redesigned and it also comes with a more durable chassis, a chassis that
04:54can take a lot more load and a lot more strain.
04:57Now we saw that being put to test by Mr. Naren Karthikeyan himself.
05:02He took us all for a round around the track and that's when we really saw the potential
05:06of this car, it can be flicked into corners if you're one of those drivers, if you like
05:11taking it on dirt sections, you can, it's very capable and one huge benefit is it comes
05:18with a manual handbrake and not an electronic handbrake.
05:21So you can use it when you need to use it and that just makes this the racer, honestly.
05:29The engine is wonderful, the suspension setup is brilliant, the chassis is durable, there's
05:36honestly zero to no negative points you can really say about the Altroz racer.
05:42Even the pillars, the A pillar and the C pillar, it really doesn't block out your vision, you
05:46can use your window to look out from the right and you have a huge field of vision on the
05:51Altroz racer.
05:52Now the steering wheel that we get is a little sporty steering wheel, very comfortable to
05:57grip on, we get a hydraulic clutch with a 6-speed transmission, yes 6-speed transmission
06:03and it's a bliss to drive, you can bang it into each gear and the car will not complain,
06:09it will take it happily and yeah, that was how the Altroz racer drives in the city, the
06:17suspension is brilliant, braking is really good in the city, however in performance driving,
06:23the braking that does get a little weak, you do feel it to be a little weak, however
06:27you really can't expect so much also from a city car.
06:31My overall impressions of this is I'm thoroughly happy with the car, especially from driving
06:35the previous versions of the Altroz to coming into this, Tata has done a wonderful job on
06:41this vehicle.
06:42So now in terms of safety, the Altroz racer gets 6 airbags, a 5-star Global NCAP rating,
06:49wheel hold assist, stability control, you name it, the car has got it.
06:54So it's a safe car, it's a fast car, it's a fun car and it has huge potential.
07:04The Altroz racer comes in three variants, R1, R2 and R3.
07:09The base variant R1 comes with features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate
07:14control, cruise control, projector headlamps, 6 airbags, leatherette seats, a 10.25-inch
07:20infotainment system, a smart key and various other features.
07:25Move up to the R2 and we get a sunroof, wireless charger, a larger digital instrument cluster
07:32and blind spot monitoring system.
07:34The top-end R3 adds ventilated seats, an air purifier and connected car technology on top
07:40of all the features we get in the lower variants.
07:56So all in all, that was my impressions on the Atata Altroz racer, I hope you guys enjoyed
08:02the video.
