00:00Your colleagues back in the Senate talking about the Gaza pier, they're saying that it's
00:06just not working.
00:08Republicans are saying President Biden needs to take a different angle with this, soldiers
00:12are being put in harm's way, some have been hurt, humanitarian aid is being taken by Hamas.
00:20What's the House Democrats' reaction to all of this, and should President Biden take a
00:24different angle?
00:25The most important thing that can be done at this point is for the peace plan that was
00:30put into the public domain by President Joe Biden, which has the support of the United
00:37Nations Security Council, and had previously secured the unanimous support of Israel's
00:45War Council, meaning it has the type of credible affirmation by important stakeholders in the
00:57Middle East and across the world, such that we have a real opportunity to create a path
01:08toward a just and lasting peace.
01:11The peace plan, in its first phase of three, will allow for an immediate ceasefire, lock
01:21in the military gains that have been made by the Israeli Defense Forces in its effort
01:29to decisively defeat Hamas, allow for humanitarian assistance to be surged immediately and consistently
01:39on behalf of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, and, quite importantly, provide a path so
01:48that every single hostage can be returned.
01:55Instead of always trying to politicize an issue, which is what is being done by my Senate
02:03Republican colleagues with respect to a matter of important foreign policy, perhaps the extreme
02:13right Republicans should be leaning in to lifting up a peace plan that has significant
02:21stakeholder support.
02:23It's also important to note that the obstacle to peace right now is the failure of Hamas
02:30negotiators to agree to a peace plan that has support all across the region, including
02:39amongst Arab partners in Egypt and Qatar.
