00:00The Federal Court has formally recognised the Native Title application for more than
00:05365,000 hectares of land, spanning across Noosa, Gympie, Bryby Island and the Sunshine
00:12Coast. In a special hearing today, the Cubby Cubby people's non-exclusive rights for land
00:17and water were recognised. It's the first occasion in Australia's East Coast where Native
00:22Titles were recognised for urbanised areas. It was emotional scenes inside court for the
00:27Cubby Cubby people, here's what they had to say outside. We had some trials to go through
00:33to be included on this Native Title claim, so it's been a real journey. Talking about
00:38Native Title and everything like that and the value of what the Sunshine Coast means
00:44to us, and it's not money value that's important to us, it's our dreamtime stories that connect
00:52us to our country. For our people to take timber or whatever, to make boomerang spears,
01:00plants, whatever, our fishing rights, all that's in our hand today and we can proudly
01:07walk away here today and we have been empowered. The ruling will allow the community to start
01:14growing authentic outcomes for across the region.
