00:08:40Why don't you tell him, if he touches this place,
00:08:43I will get every hooker, every stripper, every pimp,
00:08:47to register to vote.
00:08:49I'll take him out of this fucking business.
00:08:52Shouldn't be too hard, Bill.
00:08:54Every one of them's on your payroll.
00:08:56We know it.
00:08:58β™ͺβ™ͺ
00:09:08β™ͺβ™ͺ
00:09:13Guillermo!
00:09:15β™ͺβ™ͺ
00:09:19Yeah.
00:09:21How's business?
00:09:22Number one is still growing.
00:09:24You sent for the cops?
00:09:26No.
00:09:27No, they came to see the girls.
00:09:29You know our reputation.
00:09:31Listen, I want this place drug-free.
00:09:36You don't have to worry.
00:09:38Everybody here knows I'm a hell of a lot tougher
00:09:40than a fucking DJ.
00:09:42I got something special for you upstairs.
00:09:47Guillermo, siempre sabes lo que me gusta.
00:09:52β™ͺβ™ͺ
00:10:02β™ͺβ™ͺ
00:10:12β™ͺβ™ͺ
00:10:20Can you believe that asshole Lamberti?
00:10:25Yeah.
00:10:26That prick probably makes more money in a month
00:10:28than I'll save my lifetime.
00:10:32Tell me something, David.
00:10:35When you walk into a place like that,
00:10:37are you thinking to yourself,
00:10:38why the fuck am I married?
00:10:41No.
00:10:42Because Joanne's worth ten of them.
00:10:44Ten?
00:10:47That's pretty incredible.
00:10:49So is she, pal.
00:10:52Wonder what she says about you.
00:10:55She says I'm all she needs.
00:10:58β™ͺβ™ͺ
00:11:04I'm picking up because I was depressed.
00:11:07The main thing it did was loosen me up.
00:11:10Can you elaborate?
00:11:12I thought about having sex with a lot of guys
00:11:15a lot of different ways.
00:11:18I thought about seducing a room full of prim guys
00:11:22like judges and lawyers and doctors.
00:11:27And they couldn't resist my charms.
00:11:31And they turned into animals.
00:11:34Not literally, but wild sex creatures.
00:11:39And they'd start taking me by force
00:11:42and passing me around from man to man.
00:11:47And, um...
00:11:50I thought about seducing a young guy
00:11:53who's never had sex before.
00:11:56And I'd just have to teach him everything.
00:12:00And I thought about sex with a beautiful woman
00:12:03and couples.
00:12:05No, I do it for you.
00:12:07I made it feel so good.
00:12:09Shut up and you'll be out of here in an hour.
00:12:12Let's get up here.
00:12:14Imagine being cooped up with her for five minutes.
00:12:20What a prize, huh?
00:12:22Yeah, a booby prize.
00:12:26Yeah.
00:12:28Yeah.
00:12:30Yeah.
00:12:32Yeah.
00:12:34Yeah.
00:12:36Uh...
00:12:38Yeah.
00:12:40Hey, I got it right there.
00:12:43Just like that.
00:12:45Uh...
00:12:47Yeah.
00:12:49Uh...
00:12:51Yeah, you know what to do.
00:12:55I met David a year ago.
00:12:57It was a Tuesday.
00:12:59I was driving to work.
00:13:01I had this shift at this cocktail lounge.
00:13:04I was late, so I guess I was speeding.
00:13:07He pulled me over and he gave me a traffic ticket.
00:13:10A week later, he paid my fine.
00:13:12He left his wife, and that was that.
00:13:19The first few months, David was incredible.
00:13:24I had never had a man treat me so well.
00:13:27It was like we were one person.
00:13:31When the money got tight, we started having problems.
00:13:35He was always worried about being able to pay the bills.
00:13:38The mortgage on the house, it was way too high.
00:13:42So he worked more. We had less time together.
00:13:46I made up this total fantasy life.
00:13:49I made up all these men who paid attention to me.
00:13:52When did that end?
00:13:54It didn't.
00:13:56And so the relationship got worse.
00:14:00So I decided I was going to make David pay attention to me
00:14:04like he did when we were first together.
00:14:22Come on.
00:14:53Joanne!
00:15:11Councilman Fletcher Ross officiated at groundbreaking ceremonies
00:15:14for the Angelico Shelter for Abused Children.
00:15:16Ross described the shelter as one more facet of his Clean Empire City campaign.
00:15:21Meanwhile, in many areas thought to be strongholds of Mayor Garibaldi...
00:15:51I think you look good.
00:15:54And the goddamn television is out!
00:16:07He must have felt rejected.
00:16:09He was really withdrawn.
00:16:12I thought that he was unhappy with me and that he'd grown tired of me.
00:16:16I didn't know that we were on the verge of a breakthrough in our relationship.
00:16:20I kept...
00:16:28Who is it?
00:16:30Intercontinental Cable. You reported a problem?
00:16:33Do you need to come inside?
00:16:35Yeah, I need to check all the connections inside and out.
00:16:38I'll be right back.
00:16:41Do you want something to drink?
00:16:43Uh, no thanks.
00:16:47Are you sure?
00:16:54I'm sorry.
00:16:56I don't know what to say.
00:16:58I'm sorry.
00:17:00I'm sorry.
00:17:02I'm sorry.
00:17:04I'm sorry.
00:17:06I'm sorry.
00:17:09Ah, if it's not too much trouble.
00:17:14No trouble at all.
00:17:18So what do you got?
00:17:20What would you like?
00:17:24What's your husband drink?
00:17:27Beer, I guess.
00:17:38So what'll it be?
00:17:42He's a cop?
00:17:45That's right.
00:17:47A boy's fantasy come true.
00:17:49So he's always gone, fighting crime.
00:17:54Sounds dangerous.
00:17:57I like danger.
00:18:03I... I'm married.
00:18:05We have a lot...
00:18:08to talk about.
00:18:21He liked to watch.
00:18:24That's what really turned him on.
00:18:27That was the secret.
00:18:29Watching me have sex with other men.
00:18:32Doing everything nasty with them.
00:18:35He loved it all.
00:18:38Whose idea was the ad?
00:18:40Yours or his?
00:18:42Mine, I think.
00:18:44I'd set it as a joke, but David was all for it.
00:18:47The money ever.
00:18:49It was like therapy for both of us.
00:18:52I know this is going to sound strange to a lot of people,
00:18:56but it saved our marriage.
00:18:58And we were two people who loved each other very much.
00:19:02We still do.
00:19:05We have power.
00:19:07Ah-ha!
00:19:09Smile for me, baby.
00:19:11All right.
00:19:13How about parting those lips?
00:19:35Wow.
00:19:37You look fantastic.
00:19:39I'm nervous.
00:19:41Yeah.
00:19:43Me, too.
00:19:45You sure you want to go through with this, Joanne?
00:19:48So enjoy yourself.
00:19:51And remember, I'm right in the next room.
00:19:55Okay.
00:19:57I think he's here.
00:20:00I love you.
00:20:18Hi, Ken?
00:20:20Court won a case.
00:20:22I'm sorry.
00:20:24It's all right.
00:20:26Hi, Ken.
00:20:28Court went a little longer than I expected.
00:20:31Come on in.
00:20:33This is for you.
00:20:39What a nice choice.
00:20:41I only pay for the best.
00:20:57You're a lawyer?
00:20:59You could say that.
00:21:01What would you say?
00:21:03I guess I would say I'm an assistant D.A.
00:21:08I'm impressed.
00:21:12Well, some girls find my position intimidating.
00:21:15Come on.
00:21:17A sexy guy like you?
00:21:20Do you have some glasses for this?
00:21:25Wouldn't you be more comfortable in the bedroom?
00:21:30Actually, if you don't mind, Joanne...
00:21:33do you mind if we just talk for a while?
00:21:43I have no idea.
00:21:45I have no idea.
00:21:48I wish.
00:21:53I interrupted.
00:21:55You were talking about your job.
00:21:58Job?
00:22:04You really want to know?
00:22:06Yeah, Mrs. Cole, I really want to know.
00:22:10He was...
00:22:13totally unselfish.
00:22:16He really got into how I felt.
00:22:19He kept touching me...
00:22:22stroking me...
00:22:24till I thought I was going to explode.
00:22:28It's weird...
00:22:30but it was all about making me feel good.
00:22:34Maybe he came here tonight to prove he could make someone else happy.
00:22:39Yeah.
00:22:41Yeah.
00:22:43Or maybe he was just looking to get laid.
00:22:45And that was great.
00:22:47The two of us were together, completely together.
00:22:51Well, not exactly just the two of you.
00:22:55How many others were there in the beginning?
00:22:58At first it was one or two a week.
00:23:12Kiss me, baby.
00:23:34Come in.
00:23:37Nice to meet you.
00:23:39Thanks for having us.
00:23:44Pleasure.
00:24:06I love you.
00:24:36Come in.
00:24:38Come in.
00:25:04Come in.
00:25:07Interesting free sample.
00:25:13For me?
00:25:15You got it.
00:25:23I knew that she was me if I hadn't found a way to get out.
00:25:27But I found a way to be happy.
00:25:30And David loved me.
00:25:32We could have gone on like that for the rest of our lives.
00:25:41Yeah, David.
00:25:43William Lamberti here.
00:25:45Listen, I need your help, guy.
00:25:48I'm under a lot of heat.
00:25:50That Fletcher Ross sent over some jerk yesterday.
00:25:53So what?
00:25:55So I need you to get him off my back.
00:25:59I know how you like to watch my girls dance.
00:26:02I'm a generous man when it comes to favors.
00:26:04I'm not asking for anything free.
00:26:06I don't need anything from you.
00:26:08So go screw yourself.
00:26:13What was that all about?
00:26:15Nothing.
00:26:16Just some lunatic.
00:26:18Can you believe these bastards want to cut our pay?
00:26:21Like we don't have enough to put up with around here?
00:26:24It happens every year. It's just talk.
00:26:26We put our lives on the line every day for these assholes,
00:26:29and look what we get back, huh?
00:26:31I should have gone to medical school like I wanted to.
00:26:33It's only money.
00:26:35I thought all you cared about was money.
00:26:37Rod, there's some things in life money just can't buy.
00:26:40Like what?
00:26:41Love.
00:26:42And the perfect woman.
00:26:47Come on in.
00:26:49Thanks.
00:26:56You're a friend of Judge Keaton's?
00:26:58Yes.
00:27:00He was right about you.
00:27:16You're a lawyer?
00:27:17Me?
00:27:18No, I'm a doctor.
00:27:20Really? What kind?
00:27:22I'm a heart specialist.
00:27:24Keeps you healthy.
00:27:26Is that true?
00:27:28Sure.
00:27:31Here's to our health.
00:27:55I think we'll keep them on.
00:27:58They always take such good care of themselves.
00:28:02There's some things money just can't buy.
00:28:06I was saying the same thing today.
00:28:09Shit.
00:28:25I'll put you up a deck chair.
00:28:27You tired or what?
00:28:29You had that one, right?
00:28:31What's officer I'm not getting paid shit grinning for?
00:28:35Well, it's not money, so you figure it out.
00:28:38Oh, yeah.
00:28:40The big date.
00:28:41So how was she?
00:28:44The question is, how wasn't she?
00:28:47Does that mean she was good?
00:28:50Good.
00:28:52Good?
00:28:54Oh, man, she did everything.
00:28:57There's not one thing she didn't do.
00:29:00You're full of crap.
00:29:02She was probably 55 with loads of kids.
00:29:06Let me tell you something, partner.
00:29:09She did things that your wife would never, ever do.
00:29:13So why didn't you tell me about it?
00:29:17It was wild.
00:29:19Lasted for hours.
00:29:22Rod was a great partner for both of us.
00:29:25And David didn't mind?
00:29:27No.
00:29:29Did he ever get tired of watching?
00:29:32Not really, but after a while he wanted me to watch with him
00:29:37so we could make love in front of the screen.
00:29:40And basically he wanted to do what we saw.
00:29:43I would be the woman on the screen
00:29:46and he would be the man or whoever.
00:29:50And that way we could share the benefits of our education.
00:30:00I'll be there as soon as I can.
00:30:03Just make sure the tabs on the tape aren't broken.
00:30:06And press play and record.
00:30:08Good. See you later, baby.
00:30:10Forget it, Dave.
00:30:12I never met a woman who could work a VCR.
00:30:14Not every woman.
00:30:32If people don't lock their doors, I guess they want you to come in.
00:30:36I didn't know it was unlocked.
00:30:39Are you who I think you are?
00:30:44Wait. I didn't do nothing, officer.
00:30:49Dave.
00:30:51This lady invited me here.
00:30:54She done anything to you?
00:30:56No.
00:30:57Are you sure?
00:30:59I just want him to go.
00:31:04So this lady's your girlfriend?
00:31:07Or is it your wife?
00:31:09That night really scared me.
00:31:12Up until then, it had been people I liked.
00:31:15Civilized people.
00:31:17Certainly nobody I had to be afraid of.
00:31:21David knew that things would never be the same after that.
00:31:25He tried to pretend that things would go back to normal, but...
00:31:30I saw a friend of yours tonight.
00:31:33I think he could help us.
00:31:36Hey, officer.
00:31:38It's William, you know?
00:31:40William Tell, or William Not Tell, if you're lucky.
00:31:43Hey.
00:31:45It's Lombardi.
00:31:47Boy, have I got a great deal for you.
00:31:49So give us a call here.
00:31:51Talk to you real soon while this is all refreshing and fine.
00:31:54Ciao, baby.
00:32:09So, who's the guy Lombardi who called?
00:32:13You heard that one, huh?
00:32:15Mm-hmm.
00:32:19Guy's nobody.
00:32:21Scum.
00:32:22Forget it.
00:32:26What was that weird message all about?
00:32:33I don't know.
00:32:36Okay.
00:32:44Nothing I can't handle.
00:33:00Are you into politics, or do you just like my campaign?
00:33:04Well, I like what you do for women.
00:33:07And looking around the office, I see that, um...
00:33:11you hire mostly women.
00:33:13I do what I can.
00:33:19I believe that, um...
00:33:22politicians can make a difference.
00:33:25And they're not out for themselves how everybody says they are.
00:33:30Maybe we can use you a little more.
00:33:35Well, feel free to call me anytime.
00:33:38And overtime is no problem.
00:33:40Good.
00:33:42Sometimes I do need extra help at night.
00:34:00Oh, sorry, Fletch.
00:34:02I didn't know if anyone was here.
00:34:04Hello, David. How you been?
00:34:07Diane, make me a cup of coffee, will you, please? Black.
00:34:19Business as usual, eh, boss?
00:34:21You gotta keep the followers happy.
00:34:23Especially around Elijah, Dad.
00:34:25Yeah, those lemmings, too.
00:34:28Hey, David, I'm on kind of a tight schedule.
00:34:31What can I do for you?
00:34:33Actually, Fletch, I think it's something I can do for you.
00:34:36Really?
00:34:38Guys and me have been talking, and we decided, you know,
00:34:41you've done some real good things for the force over the years,
00:34:44and we'd sure like to see you become the next mayor.
00:34:47I'll use all the support I can get.
00:34:50So we want to start helping you close down some of them damn strip clubs.
00:34:54Get in there, look for violations,
00:34:56make it real difficult for the customers to enjoy themselves, you know?
00:34:59What's the catch?
00:35:02We're worried about pay cuts.
00:35:04Don't worry, David.
00:35:06There'll be no pay cuts.
00:35:12Here's your coffee, sir.
00:35:14Thank you. Diane, there's some foolers in the Goober account in the outer office.
00:35:17Would you get those for me, please?
00:35:20You sure can pick them.
00:35:22You still married?
00:35:24Yeah.
00:35:26I heard you got married again.
00:35:28Yeah.
00:35:31You don't seem too thrilled about it.
00:35:33No, it's okay. It's a good arrangement.
00:35:35But there's some things in life you gotta leave home to get.
00:35:38You know what I mean?
00:35:40Yeah. Tell me about it.
00:35:42Heck, I was with some girl last night.
00:35:44I gotta tell you.
00:35:46I've always had a weakness for beautiful women,
00:35:48but this one was flawless.
00:35:50But I should push on.
00:35:52Hey, wait a minute.
00:35:54Tell me about her.
00:35:56What, the wife?
00:35:58No, dickhead.
00:36:00The girl last night.
00:36:02Well, that's the damnedest thing I saw about her in the newspaper, an ad.
00:36:06About an out-call service?
00:36:08No, no.
00:36:10This is a freelance situation.
00:36:12Very exclusive.
00:36:15I've had everyone I ever wanted.
00:36:18Then go home.
00:36:20You don't need me.
00:36:24You know who I am.
00:36:26I'm a pretty important man, lady.
00:36:28I keep this whole damn city running smoothly.
00:36:31Son of a bitch.
00:36:35You know what I mean?
00:36:37Yeah.
00:36:39You know what I mean?
00:36:41Yeah.
00:36:44Hey.
00:36:46Great.
00:36:48Fucking great, I tell you.
00:36:50Just great.
00:36:52And plenty of close-ups.
00:36:54Yeah.
00:36:56I love it.
00:36:58You know what I feel?
00:37:00I feel vindicated.
00:37:02I thought you wouldn't.
00:37:04No, I see it.
00:37:06There's two things that make the world go round.
00:37:10One is sex.
00:37:12And money.
00:37:14And we're in the same business.
00:37:16You and me.
00:37:18And your wife.
00:37:20We got the same animal instincts.
00:37:22You know what I mean?
00:37:24There's two kinds of animals.
00:37:26The ones that eat and the ones that get eaten.
00:37:31You know what I want to see?
00:37:33I want to see Fletcher Ross mauled.
00:37:37And then eaten.
00:37:40Can you dig it?
00:37:42You're getting ahead of yourself.
00:37:45First, we got to discuss terms.
00:37:48Terms?
00:37:50What are you talking about?
00:37:52Terms?
00:37:54The tape shears.
00:37:56For 50 grand.
00:37:58In cash.
00:38:00By Friday.
00:38:02Are you nuts?
00:38:04I thought I was talking to a reasonable man.
00:38:07Where do you think I'm going to get a hold of 50 grand?
00:38:11You got connections.
00:38:13Why should I give you a nickel?
00:38:16It's your assets on the line.
00:38:19All I got to do is take this tape to the cops.
00:38:23And I know plenty of cops.
00:38:25Yeah, me too.
00:38:27That got me thinking.
00:38:29I've been on the force, what, seven years?
00:38:32Seven years without one reprimand.
00:38:35So who are they going to believe?
00:38:37You or me?
00:38:39You got any proof?
00:38:41Yeah.
00:38:43I got the air.
00:38:46That don't mean shit.
00:38:48Oh, yeah, you got the word of Emelio Hernandez.
00:38:51But I bet you 50 grand,
00:38:54you couldn't get that twisted son of a bitch anywhere near a police station.
00:39:01Stay in touch, huh?
00:39:06Hey.
00:39:24Don't you think you should tell me what's going on?
00:39:27Try your tea. Tell me if I made it too strong.
00:39:31Are you blackmailing Fletcher Ross?
00:39:35Personally?
00:39:37No.
00:39:39But if it suits our purposes to help one of his enemies,
00:39:42then who cares?
00:39:44Guy's a first-class prick.
00:39:47David.
00:39:49Joanne.
00:39:52You're looking at a good, clean cop, okay?
00:39:55Nobody puts the screws on me.
00:39:57On us.
00:39:59I'm just turning the tables, okay?
00:40:03I don't know.
00:40:06In fact, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you,
00:40:09because it's all taken care of.
00:40:11Rather neat little piece of work on my part.
00:40:17Open wide.
00:40:24Beautiful.
00:40:33I had my doubts.
00:40:35I trusted David to work things out.
00:40:39It was beyond his control.
00:40:41Lamberti was as determined to keep himself in action as we were.
00:40:45As a policeman, David should have known.
00:40:47If you bring the streets into your home,
00:40:49you can't control what's going to happen.
00:40:56What if he changes his mind?
00:40:58He's a businessman.
00:41:00He'll take the easy way out.
00:41:02What about Ross?
00:41:04Fletcher's no fool.
00:41:07He'll find some new cause to focus in on.
00:41:10Someone's here.
00:41:16He's a frigging dyke.
00:41:18Let me talk to her.
00:41:20Then get rid of that freak.
00:41:22Joanne, it's Ingrid.
00:41:24Ingrid, what is it?
00:41:26Please, darling, I have to talk to you.
00:41:28Please, darling, I have to talk to you. It's very important.
00:41:30I can't talk to you. Not now. You have to leave.
00:41:33But I tried calling. Look, I have tickets.
00:41:35I'm taking you to France. I've got everything planned.
00:41:37You don't have to worry about a thing.
00:41:39Ingrid, I can't leave. Not now.
00:41:41Open up. Why are you closed? I'll take care of you.
00:41:43I can't. But I love you.
00:41:45Ingrid, no!
00:41:47Ingrid, guess what?
00:41:49We're not interested in your fucking problem.
00:41:53David, what do you think you're doing?
00:41:59This is an emergency. Please help me.
00:42:01I saw a man at the house, my friend.
00:42:03He's got a gun.
00:42:05Yes.
00:42:07650 Paloma Avenue.
00:42:09Woodland Hills.
00:42:11Yes.
00:42:29Where the hell is she going to take you?
00:42:31France.
00:42:35That's got to be him.
00:42:37Okay, let him in.
00:42:39Just make sure he's alone, all right?
00:42:59Hey.
00:43:01Hey.
00:43:03Yeah.
00:43:05I'm glad you could make it.
00:43:07You got all of it?
00:43:09I resent.
00:43:13Well, I guess you're the girl that started all the fuss.
00:43:17Hello.
00:43:22I understand you're going to become a big video star.
00:43:25Unlock the case, Lombardi.
00:43:27You going to offer me a drink?
00:43:30Just open the goddamn case.
00:43:34David,
00:43:36if we're going to be partners,
00:43:40you've got to learn to trust me.
00:43:45Feast your eyes.
00:43:48Feast your eyes.
00:43:55Okay, fix the knife.
00:43:57All right.
00:43:59Rise and rise.
00:44:03Just pull the gun out of your back.
00:44:05Throw it over there.
00:44:07Don't touch it.
00:44:09It's right here.
00:44:11Watch it.
00:44:13It's going down.
00:44:15It's down.
00:44:17Give me the tape.
00:44:19The tape?
00:44:21There better be a tape.
00:44:23Of course there's a fucking videotape.
00:44:28All right.
00:44:30Put it in the briefcase.
00:44:32Fifty grand.
00:44:34You snake.
00:44:37Hey.
00:44:40Let go.
00:44:47Stop it right now.
00:44:53Stop it.
00:44:56Freeze.
00:45:01Don't shoot. Don't shoot.
00:45:03She's my partner.
00:45:10What the fuck's going on here, David?
00:45:12That maniac broke into my house.
00:45:14What?
00:45:16This is your house?
00:45:18He was after my wife.
00:45:20Your wife?
00:45:22He was going to kill me, Rod.
00:45:24Why don't you tell him about the blackmail scam?
00:45:26Tell him about the videotapes
00:45:28with your wife making it
00:45:30with all of her gentleman friends.
00:45:32Let's talk about this at the station, huh?
00:45:34If I talk, I tell him everything.
00:45:36And that's how it goes down, partner.
00:45:38Let's go.
00:45:49Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:45:55The, uh...
00:46:00And how did you feel when the media got hold of you?
00:46:03I didn't realize that was such a big deal.
00:46:06I didn't know our story would attract so much attention.
00:46:10I wasn't prepared for any of it.
00:46:12And from what I hear,
00:46:14there are dozens of public and private figures
00:46:17that would do just about anything
00:46:19to keep their name out of it.
00:46:21I wouldn't know anything about that.
00:46:24I can't comment about that at this time.
00:46:26Our office is not ready to release any information
00:46:28about the case that would have been a full review.
00:46:30What can you tell us about the videotapes?
00:46:32I can't comment.
00:46:33But the people who have seen the tapes
00:46:35have identified many of the people involved.
00:46:37What are you saying about that?
00:46:39I, uh, can't comment.
00:46:40Well, what about Fletcher Ross?
00:46:42Judge Keaton, members of the police department,
00:46:44have identified many of the people involved.
00:46:46What are you saying about that?
00:46:48I, uh, can't comment.
00:46:50Well, what about Fletcher Ross?
00:46:52Judge Keaton, members of the police department.
00:46:54No comment.
00:46:55What about the black book?
00:46:56No comment.
00:46:57Mr. Craven, these people are witnesses to a crime,
00:46:59and under state law, their names have to be made public.
00:47:01Are you aware of that?
00:47:02Wait a minute.
00:47:03What crime?
00:47:05Mr. Van Horn, as a Coles attorney,
00:47:07you should be well aware of the charges
00:47:09being brought against them.
00:47:10Prostitution and extortion.
00:47:12There is no prostitution.
00:47:14No extortion.
00:47:16No crime of any kind.
00:47:19What about the videotapes?
00:47:21How come to that?
00:47:22What about the black book?
00:47:24I'll answer all your questions.
00:47:26Just give me a chance to tell the truth.
00:47:29What has been characterized as a crime
00:47:32perpetrated by the Coles is actually a tragedy.
00:47:36What has been called perverseness
00:47:38is underneath all the tar and feathers
00:47:40really a love story, pure and simple.
00:47:44What we have here is a loving couple,
00:47:47compatible in every way except in the bedroom.
00:47:50Joanne Cole suffers from excessive sexual desires,
00:47:54nymphomania, a medical condition.
00:47:57Induced and exacerbated by the use of the drug Primac,
00:48:01which was prescribed to her by a medical doctor.
00:48:05Because of the deep love that this couple felt for one another,
00:48:09they dealt with this blow to their marital stability
00:48:13in a sane and rational way.
00:48:16Accommodation.
00:48:18If this had been a wasting illness,
00:48:20David Cole would be praised for supporting his wife's needs.
00:48:24He would have been called a hero, and she would have been a saint.
00:48:27She took her treatment, her therapy in a safe environment,
00:48:32a clinical environment entirely under the supervision of her husband.
00:48:37They needed and depended on one another
00:48:40because they loved each other.
00:48:42There's a black book with names and dates and dollar amounts,
00:48:46heaps of videos of judges, politicians and lawyers
00:48:49embedded with your client.
00:48:50How does all this square with your therapy defense?
00:48:53These other people, their names, their prestige
00:48:56were irrelevant to the Coles.
00:48:58The camera was David's way of assessing his wife's condition.
00:49:03It was as clinical as an X-ray or an MRI.
00:49:08Look, I hope that everybody who hears the Cole story
00:49:12will recognize the commonality of it
00:49:14and perhaps relate it to travails in their own lives.
00:49:18Then I think the public will react generously,
00:49:21not just with sympathy, but with understanding.
00:49:25Mr. Van Horne!
00:49:27Mr. Van Horne!
00:49:43They sell T-shirts with your picture on it,
00:49:45you've been on radio shows, you've been on national television.
00:49:48You're a celebrity now.
00:49:50It's incredible, isn't it?
00:49:52Now that you've accepted the plea bargain,
00:49:54are you going to put all this behind you?
00:49:57No, I think it'll be kept alive for a long time.
00:50:01Why?
00:50:03Because I think it fulfills a need.
00:50:06I think a lot of people would like to experience my story firsthand,
00:50:09but they can't, or they won't.
00:50:12And so the more details they hear,
00:50:14the more real the experience becomes to them.
00:50:18What about the videotapes?
00:50:20Did Fletcher Ross's resignation and withdrawal from the mayor's race
00:50:23have anything to do with you?
00:50:26All I know is what his statement said,
00:50:28that he had some sort of medical problem.
00:50:32Beyond that, I wouldn't presume to comment on his motives.
00:50:37So what are your plans?
00:50:40Our plans?
00:50:43We've had a lot of nice offers.
00:50:46I think we're going to go to Barbados for a while.
00:50:49I think we'll work things out on the beach, have some fun.
00:50:55You're welcome to join us if you'd like.
00:50:59Well, if you had a chance to do it all over again, would you do it again?
00:51:07I'd leave out a few things, but overall, sure.
00:51:12I got what I always wanted, didn't I?
00:51:15Which was?
00:51:18Love.
00:51:23I guess that sums it up.
00:51:25Is there anything else you wanted to say?
00:51:28Yeah.
