A couple with a 21-year age gap who are sometimes mistaken to be father and daughter say "age is just a number".

Hillary, 35, and her husband, Kris, 57, started dating in 2018 while working for the same Fortune 500 healthcare company in North Carolina, US.

They had both previously been married to people their own age but marriages broke down and the pair connected over their mutual love of travel.

Their relationship blossomed and now the couple travel around the US in their supersize RV.

Hillary says that Kris is sometimes mistaken for her father, but the pair usually just laugh it off.

Kris has two sons from his previous marriage, aged 25 and 23.

Hillary, from New Orleans, Louisiana, US, said: "We recognise that there is a 20 plus year age gap so we don't get offended when this happens and just let people know that we are in fact a couple."

The couple have widely different interests, Kris is a self proclaimed "petrol-head" while Hillary is passionate about hiking, photography, and dogs.

The pair say their differing age most shows in relation to what music and TV they like.

Hillary said: "We grew up in different generations and have very different taste in those."

"When we first met I thought he was a lot younger and he thought I was older - we initially didn’t realise there was that much of a difference.

"We both had big wanderlust, it just drew me to him, and we were able to travel to lots of places with our work."

The pair became official in late 2018 and eventually moved into an apartment together in Durham, North Carolina.

Hillary said: “Everything just seemed to work, we compliment each other really well.

“The age gap brings a unique aspect to our relationship - as we’re at different points in life, they complement each other.

“I trust Kris’ experience - he is capable of handing a lot of things - especially mechanical fixes and stressful situations, while I am more technologically savvy.

"I am the planner where Kris is more the spontaneous one."

The couple made plans to travel all around the world, but then in March 2020 when the world came to a screeching halt due to the pandemic, their plans all had to be scrapped.

the couple went down a YouTube rabbit hole of watching channels with people who own RVs and became inspired.

Hillary said: “Neither one of us had ever travelled in an RV – it was totally new to us.

“We dove right in and found an RV online and made the spontaneous decision to start RVing.

“We flew to out of state to pick it up – we didn’t even know how to start the thing and the whole way driving home we were like 'what have we got ourselves into?'.

“But once we got the hang of it we just loved the freedom it provided."

The couple travelled around the US in their motorhome for a year while still owning their house and working remote.

After the first year, they decided to fully invest in the nomad lifestyle, selling their home and most of their possessions to live on the road full time.

00:00Time for the big reveal. Welcome to our new home. We traded in our Super C for this American coach Class A motorhome
00:06Come take a tour of our new house on wheels. We love the cockpit of this RV and all the updated tech
00:11It's super smooth and very quiet to drive
00:13One of the main reasons we made the switch is for more space
00:16This RV has two couches one that converts into a queen-size bed and over here
00:20We have a large power recliner sofa, which has a button to lift the TV moving into the dining and kitchen area
00:25There's a booth that we'll be using as our office space for now with tons of storage
00:28The kitchen was one of my favorite parts
00:30It is a two burner induction cooktop and one of the best features is this dishwasher, which we're super excited to have
00:36It has a huge stainless farmhouse style sink with tons of storage under it
00:39And there's even a peninsula that pulls out with more countertop space
00:42There's a residential size refrigerator and we loved that all the appliances were black stainless steel
00:47We have a pantry with drawers that pull out for easy access and it also has a stackable washer and dryer
00:51This is the main hub for the RV where we can control everything
00:55And we even have heated floors that we can turn on from here
00:57Then there's a half bathroom with nice fixtures moving into the main bedroom, which feels huge to us
01:02There's a ton of storage space for clothes and behind the TV. We have even more hidden storage
01:07We also have a large king-size bed, which is super comfy then in the bathroom
01:11There's a closet space for hanging clothes and plenty of storage around the vanity for bathroom items
01:15And another one of our favorite parts is a large shower. This thing is super nice
01:20I really really liked this part of it. And of course, there's even more storage. We love our new home
01:25What do you think follow for part two to see a tour of the exterior?
01:29We're an age gap couple and we have a 20 year age gap difference between the two of us and we get a lot of
01:34Questions about our relationship the number one most common question being this one, which is do we want to have kids together?
01:39Yeah, the reality is I already have kids. I have two grown boys both in their mid 20s
01:43I love them to death, but I don't want any more kids
01:46I'm getting a little bit older and I don't want more kids
01:49Yeah
01:50And I'm in my mid 30s and I have never wanted kids before I used to get that question a lot people would say like
01:55Well, don't you want to have kids and the answer is no, I've never wanted to have kids of my own
01:58I just never had that mom. GM. I'm a fur baby mom through and through
02:03And to all the women out there that get asked similar questions, there's nothing wrong with you
02:06It's totally fine. If you don't want to have kids of your own the relationship with Chris and I is really great
02:10I love his kids and we get along really well
02:13I'm actually closer in age to his kids than I am to Chris, but it works for us
02:17I will say I do think it's one of those important things that you need to have a discussion about because like in any relationship
02:22Having kids is a huge topic and if you have a big age gap between the two of you
02:26You definitely want to make sure you're on the same page of that. Yeah, very true. We're happy today with no kids
02:30We may be one day grandkids. That's right
02:34After living full-time on the road for the past two years
02:36We finally decided to buy an RV lot come set up our motorhome with us at our new location
02:41We have a large private pull-in site that faces a pond
02:44Once we get the RV positioned the first step is to level it
02:46You can see our snap pads here on the jacks that provide more stability
02:49Then we get started with our normal setup to be honest
02:52We're really looking forward to taking a break from the constant travel and being settled for a while
02:55The RV lifestyle is a ton of fun and we really enjoy the freedom but packing up and moving every few days or weeks can
03:01Get exhausting especially when things go wrong
03:03We weren't planning on buying a property yet
03:05But we found a place that we fell in love with in our three total years of RVing
03:09We've traveled to 39 states and stayed at over 120 campgrounds and RV parks
03:13But this was the one place we were able to find that not only has an amazing RV resort
03:17It's also in a location that we love with great weather and an incredible outdoor lifestyle
03:21Many RV parks are getting insanely expensive
03:23Plus most end up not being worth the money as they're crowded with little to no privacy or outdoor space
03:28And this is most important for us
03:29What sold us on this property is the size and privacy of a lot with beautiful scenery
03:33We'll still be living in the RV and plan to travel to some new and exciting places this summer
03:37We sold our shop in North Carolina to be able to afford this and we're so grateful that we can now call it our new
03:42home base
