00:00All right, so Joe Missoula wins his first championship, 35 years old.
00:07I remember he took over the team in some strange circumstances, there's no question about that.
00:13Youngest head coach to win since Bill Russell won at the age of 35 years old.
00:21So you know, obviously this is pretty significant and a trend that we're seeing, by the way,
00:24Jacob, not just in the NBA, but in all sports, younger guys are getting these gigs.
00:30Yeah, and I think the youth just allows them to relate to the players a little bit more.
00:34I think you could see that the Celtics really backed Joe Missoula.
00:38They knew that he was thrown into a tough circumstance, and he was expected to lead
00:43the team to the finals basically straight away.
00:46And once he didn't deliver, he was all of a sudden under the gun.
00:49People were saying, he's not the guy that you can trust to lead this team.
00:53He's too young, he's too inexperienced, he doesn't have the same ability to draw up plays
00:58that Brad Stevens and Emei Udoka did.
01:01But you know, he continued to improve as he was really in the head coaching job, which
01:06you don't see often.
01:07He was thrown into the fire.
01:09The Celtics got him some veteran coaching help, Sam Cassell, Charles Lee this offseason.
01:14And I think that kind of stabilized things and allowed Missoula to kind of be his own
01:18guy, knowing that he had the confidence and the backing of Brad Stevens.
01:22So it was an impressive feat for him to accomplish this, and for him to be the one to get the
01:26Celtics team over the top.
01:28I think if you had asked people about this last year, they would have said, they got
01:32to get someone else.
01:33And now Joe Missoula is on top of the coaching world, he's clearly an up-and-coming star.
