Boeing CEO to Testify Before US Senate on Safety Issues, Acknowledges Culture is 'Far from Perfect'

Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun will testify before the US Senate about safety issues at Boeing, admitting the company's culture is "far from perfect." In January, an unused door fell off a Boeing 737 Max during a flight by Alaska Airlines, leaving a hole in the plane's side. Whistleblowers told the Senate in April that Boeing's 737 Max, 787 Dreamliner, and 777 models had serious production defects. In 2018 and 2019, two Boeing 737 Max planes crashed, killing 346 people. In May, Boeing presented a plan to regulators to improve aircraft quality following production problems. Calhoun will step down at the end of the year.
