00:00I'm here today to demonstrate my determination that this matter go to court and we finally
00:06get justice, not only to clear my name, but also to get justice for the many people whose
00:11lives have been destroyed.
00:12It is absolutely essential that all parties accept Justice Lee's findings, all of his
00:18findings, so that the many people who have been damaged by this whole saga can get justice
00:26and to get peace.
00:27I have always hoped that we could reach settlement before this point, but it doesn't look like
00:33we will, so we are going to court because it is far too important.
00:37I need to clear my name finally, after well over three years, and so many people have
00:43been so damaged by this.
00:46Justice Lee was very clear in terms of the fact that there was never any political conspiracy
00:53that Ms Higgins was looked after by myself and particularly by my Chief of Staff, Fiona
00:57Brown, and it is time that those people who have perpetuated that agree they were wrong,
01:06apologise, and so that we can all move on.
01:09Look, I've been incredibly grateful for the support of my federal colleagues, my Liberal
01:14colleagues throughout.
01:16I've been particularly grateful in recent times for the support from Scott Morrison
01:20and from many other colleagues who will be witnesses in this trial in terms of the impact
01:26this has had on me, but on many other people as well, because there simply was never, ever
01:32any political conspiracy.
