00:13creators and vendors of these lifelike miniatures come here to sell their ware
00:30and it's six foot in real life it'll be six inches in miniature and what's some
00:35of the most weird and unusual ones you've made
00:40mortuary, that's out on the stand
00:42and an autopsy table
00:44microscopes, telescopes, condoms
00:58all sorts of stuff, I've done air fryers, I've done air fryers, I've done tower cases
01:06you know on wheels, I love it, what got you both into miniatures, yeah we just walked in on a show one day and fell in love with it all
01:18and so you just started making wow and how long do some of the works take
01:24sometimes you can build something in a half a day but it takes about two weeks to finish it on an opt you know
01:30painting it and doing all the detailing and all that, and were you arty before were you doing
01:35anything arty, well I came straight into this from school because my dad said well I was still at school so I used to come home and do my homework and then make miniatures for the fair on the Sunday
01:47wow and is that what you do full time, yes we both do it full time, wow so it's mother and daughter business, yes it is and my son's joined us now so he's doing 3D printing for us and me
01:59wow so is that the future of miniature making, I think to a certain extent it is you know I mean a lot of people that are buying the 3D printers to make
02:10buying designs off the internet and just printing them but Ryan actually makes all the designs
02:19you know in the 3D printing world and comes up with some fantastic stuff for us, oh amazing and
02:29when it comes to what's popular at the moment have you noticed a certain trend in miniatures
02:34the modern stuff's picking up because we were sort of like an oddball out, there's quite a lot more coming on now so it's more popular to collect
02:45but trends in real life get echoed in miniature you know like the air fryers
02:52you know everybody wants an air fryer I can have them in my doll's house now you know so
02:56and how popular is the miniature like market and community
03:01it's growing, it's growing, there's a lot of stuff online for it now and there's a lot of
03:09certain groups on Facebook but also we're either all involved into a certain era or you know what
03:15with that and yes it's good you know people all over the world and you know sending stuff to
03:21America and Germany and Australia and Israel and all sorts of stuff, yeah and what kind of age group
03:27are people mainly? It's all age groups, it doesn't matter man or woman it's there's just everybody's into it you know
03:46Well I've been collecting for about 12-13 years and then I started making about eight years ago
03:53And what's it like making these miniatures, how hard is it?
03:57It can be quite tricky, I have to have a lot of patience
04:01especially if I'm making something I've never made before because it takes a lot of
04:04trial and error but once I've kind of got them down I can kind of make lots at a time then
04:10And what would you say the miniatures scene is like? The miniatures scene is super friendly,
04:17everyone's lovely and everyone's just enjoying making stuff, sharing what they've made, buying
04:23stuff from everybody so it's yeah it's a great atmosphere. What inspires you about yours?
04:28I'm very inspired by fairy tales and films, movies, I love Disney so Disney's always a
04:36great one as well. And is this what you do full-time? I do it full-time yeah at the moment
04:41And is that what you thought you'd end up doing? Well I thought it would be something
04:45arts related but I didn't realise it would be miniatures but here we are. We are 99.9% handmade
04:54I take inspiration from films, a lot of films, everyday occurrences, I mean I live literally
05:03for five minute walk from the seaside so ice creams and walking parks, all the colourful
05:10sticks I've got and so they will inspire me. Also some real-life bakers like Peggy Portion
05:17if you've ever heard of her she's got several bakeries and I do follow her
05:22take inspiration from her. There was another one Miss Lola's Bakehouse, I take inspiration from her
05:28I do Christmas trees, Christmas ornaments, a lot of festive home decor and such and that
05:42I take my inspiration from Trendatree which is an American company
