00:00Yes, he is.
00:01Are you supportive of those and do you feel that they make up for some of the less popular
00:05provisions he took earlier this month?
00:07It is very important that we permit families to stay unified when someone is married to
00:17a U.S. citizen, permitting those families to stay together so that little children don't
00:22have to wonder when they go off to school in the morning whether or not mama or daddy
00:27will still be there when they get home late in the afternoon.
00:32The President, once again, is doing what Joe Biden does best.
00:35He is using his tools to try to advance the values of the American people and that means
00:43treating our families as important and helping those families that have mixed legal status
00:51on immigration.
00:53I strongly support him on that.
00:55Should you have taken that executive action earlier this month, turning away people at
00:58the border?
00:59Look, what should have happened, if you want to do the should-its, is Congress should have
01:03acted.
01:04And you may remember that there was a deal negotiated between Democrats and Republicans,
01:09what's it been, eight months ago now?
01:12And once it was negotiated, we thought we had a plan to move forward and Donald Trump
01:17said no.
01:18He wanted chaos at the border because he thinks it's going to be helpful to him in the election.
01:23The President is now in a position of saying he wants Congress to act, but if Congress
01:27won't act, he's going to use every tool in his toolbox to try to both give us security
01:33at the border and to try to protect families.
01:36Did you support that executive order?
01:38It is not how I would have approached it, but I do appreciate that right now what the
01:43President is doing is he's saying families are important to Americans and that we are
01:48going to do everything we can to protect the spouses of American citizens.
01:52They should not have to fear deportation.
01:55And the fact that we have gotten this far before this has been done is actually pretty
01:59outrageous.
02:00So, I applaud what the President's doing, I thank him for that, and I still say it's
02:05on Congress's shoulders to act.
02:08If the Republicans and Donald Trump hadn't blocked us, we would have.
02:12And we've got to get land.
02:13Thank you.
